bah, priacy IS dead. what do you class as piracy? killing lots of ships in 0.0 doesn't constitute piracy, it's just random killing.. if CCP reshaped the insurance system (40% base is far too much) maybe actually piracy may occur.. that being, robbery and plundering. ----- ----- -----

Pirate: One who preys on others; a plunderer.
If you can't be an effective pirate by yourself in 0.0 then band together with other pirates. Don't whine because your chosen career path isn't a walk in the park. It's like you guys don't expect to have to work for anything. Miners sit in asteroid belts for hours on end. Traders spend hours moving cargo around in an effort to make isk. Producers spend days flying around trying to find lab slots/factory slots. Pirates sit on forums for days complaining that they can't simply gank the miner that spent 2 weeks mining Mega. Seems right to me. |

I agree with the pirate although everyone here is making a valid point.
Pirating is not supposed to be easy... You shouldn't be using BS, you should be doing hit and run raids on shipping, scanning ships for the ones using good loot, using spies and stuff to find out when the big shipments of Zydrine and Mega are on the move.
But I do agree that you should not be getting sec status for stuff in 0.0. The reason 0.0 is lawless is cuz there is no Concord there, hence no law. If there was you would have noobies like crazy spawning everyone protected by Concord. What pirates should be doing is hitting 0.4 to 0.1 areas and 0.0 areas halting merchant shipping and stuff.
Some things I think that are way unbalanced and out of the realm is the response time for Concord. I mean, it's a government organization, they should be dragging thier feet in 0.1 - 0.4 space, lack of funding and all that jazz. Turrets should be limited to 0.5 and above, I mean, it must be expensive to maintain and perfectly functional sentry gun system that is imperivous to damage. Hell you know what? Make the sentry guns in 0.4 - 0.3 destroyable and respawns after x amount of time. And in 0.2 - 0.1 remove sentry guns, and make patrols that circulate through the system from time to time.
This way, it makes it more realisitic for pirates to be pirates in empire. After all, if Guristas can operate at gates in empire without drawing fire from sentries and concord ships then why can't PC pirates?
PC players operating in empire should be limited to frigs and cruisers, otherwise if Concord catches a whiff of a pirate BS in empire they would be on him immediately.
Make response time of Concord in 0.4 and below system dependent on aggressor size. If they are in frigs concord will take thier time, if they are in larger concord will come faster and if they are in BS they come as fast as possible.

All this leaves no real room for thoes that want to play pirates as CCP promised when we bought the game and thats a real shame.
Tbh. i think CCP should forget all about these carebears that want to travel safe for a while!
Add more 0.4 - 0.1 systems so thats pirates wont be in every system cause there a chokesystems. Remove most of the sentry guns in 0.4-0.1 but leave some so there again wont be pirates in every system. Make it so there are less concord for the lower you get in 1.0 - 0.5 and do something about the sentry guns there, that would make only the real determin pirates go there since they will 100% sure loose ships BUT have a chance of surviving.. To all the carebears, as you say to us when you get PVP nerfed all the time "live with it and adapt! You will like it in the end" Move more of the ore out in 0.4-0.1, its to easy making a living of mining in high sec. Make less chokesystems into 0.0, this should make it so pirates don't have to use the same old system every day and with the map changes in Shiva it will be fun for all and not only big alliances having thoes systems to play with. Give pirates a chance to raise their sec rating just a little faster than today so we can actually buy new ships when we get blown up.
Carebear miners have ruind the market also, prices are screwed like no other MMORPG and almost everyone have a minimum of 1 bill in their wallets. This is ofcause the result of different things but safe travel is one main factor.
Make the sisi server into a server where there is only Yulai and all the ore in the world and let the people that want a safe game go there or something if you don't like the above surgestions!

How about allowing pirates to bribe concord so they can enter Empire. The more isk involved in the bribe the longer they can stay (of course with a set limit) If the good citizens of Empire want to take the law into their own hands they should be allowed to without concord attacking them.
The idea about not decreasing the number of sentries in 0.4-0.1 but making them less likely to hit hard do to shoddy maintanence is a good one. This is something that should dynamically change. One week the sentries in Assah are hitting full the next they miss 25% of the time. This would keep the pirates and travellers on their toes.

Sec status is a flawed system. In empire it works as a way of telling which characters will get concord ganked, or killed by sentries. But to the average player, and in a roleplay sense, its pointless. Theres no guarantee, even in empire, that a player with a positive sec status isnt a pirate. For a recent example, Shollos. In 0.0, people that attack non alliance/corp related players aren't given any permanent marking for it.
As well as sec status, maybe something like a reputation system could be implemented. Whenever a person is killed out of an alliance or corp war, i.e, an innocent person, it could be added to a characters reputation. Doing good deeds, such as customs work, or extensive NPC hunting could also be added to the reputation, to still allow people to "reform". They probably donŠt have a clue what to do to fix all the problems. Their own rules caused now that the game had to be changed from a corp-based and -sized game to an alliance-based and -sized game. Blobbing is "made by CCP". Also the now alliance-focusing game is a sign for all the lost career types.
CCP, i donŠt know what finally is right or wrong - but can it be ok, that TDG/BNCL/TEDDYS have to form an alliance, declare war on all other alliances while all our players only wanted to be pirates? They didnt want to declare any wars and be a political force, they simply wanted to hunt rich players. If this new Shiva features comes without sec. hits in 0.0 there would be no reason for us to go on to do piracy in 0.0. The war declaration possibilitys would offer us much more traffic in empire. ItŠs a mess for the pirate career because any pirates in this game will fix their sec. ranking and become "warriors". Sec. hits in 0.0 would fix this, while alliance warriors can still pvp as much they want. If they kill others without a war, they would get pirates - wich would be absolutly logical.

Whats tickin me off at the minute is ships logging. I used to offer npc farmers a chance to pay a ransom but now I just take em out. Had 4 pilots log in 1 day compplained to CCP and they told me to sling it basically. Said it couldnt be proven if they chose to log or if there PC went down. Ive been playin eve since its launch and have seen many many changes and all of them seem to be anti pirate and pro miner/manufacturer I have 6 characters in eve 2 corps 1 good 1 bad and the bad corp is the most fun but i do feel as though slowly but surely im being pushed outa the game by the nerfs CCP keep applying. Due to the way ive been pushed i now no longer hunt rich targets and cherry pick the best players to fight i just kill anything that crosses my path as there no way to make isk anymore as a player pirate, its just a nice change from mining/manufacturing.

I think a failing on ccps fault is there are very few ISK drainers in the game. lose of a BS can add up but its off set if you mine for all the mins... There is WAY to much isk in the game right now. Mega corps should have billions but,it seems like everyone has a bill of isk to throw around these days.

Say you attacked a ship in 0.0 that belonged to xyz alliance and you aren't at war with xyz alliance. Instead of sec status going negative, your standing with all the corps in xyz alliance automatically takes a hit. Eventually, if you pirate members of xyz alliance enough, they'll see you as a red square. It should also work with corps that aren't in alliances too. Getting your standings back up will require player interaction or some clever thing someone else might think of. agents?

I have to totaly agree with everything said in this topic.
There are people moaning about macro mining but if theres no way for you to take a macro mininig apoc out whats to stop them ???.. O wait you could ore steal .. BUT WAIT!! .. aint there peeps moaning on about this aswell ??.. maybe these could be the ones macro mining ??? DUH!..
