Completely agree. It's just that people keep saying that Incarna is going to be the best thing since T2 while it's just going to be a rather small and hardly used area of EVE.
Originally by: Jim Raynor EVE needs danger, EVE needs risks, EVE needs combat, even piracy, without these things, the game stagnates to a trivial game centering around bloating your wallet with no purpose. |

Didn't you hear? CCP bought out gia-online so they could use the "dress my avatar is this months latest pixels" engine. On the other hand everyone has there own opinion and you can feel free to disagree with my sig.

i bet there is a space sim for sl (which is just a vpron game anyway) but the ability to costomise my costume and maby have a little taser gun that i can just nock people over with in stations also a pos structure i could walk in would be nice have a mall section of a station be able to walk through a small trophy room i really like how they were saying that the program would sync the lips of your avatar to your mic input and even modify your voice the tech seems a little shaky but still the machinima potential would be staggering (clear skys on crack) also id like to lord my wealth over a bunch of console noobs playing dust since capsuleers are vip's so to speak

The ability to enter planets and go exploring. Would open a new avenue in PVP as well.
Yeah, that is so going to happen soon, because making a very simple sidetrack where you can walk around in a station didnt take them 3 or 4 years so far. If you want to fight at planets get Dust514 when it comes.
On another note though, they better not **** up incarna, it ought to look real nice if it is supposed to go with the visuals of space. I have these images of stiff walking around like in some early 3d game |

If people are looking to walk around and interact with people, then put down the Cheetos, turn off the computer, and interact with people in real life. Not that hard of a concept, unless you're really socially inept.
---
Achurian players retain their fugly looks when this expansion is released. There should be no reason they benefited years ago with increased stats save for Charisma and now feel they should be entitled to look glamorous.
---
Since people desire to walk around, you would not be hooked into Aura which is a part of the egg and thus your skill training should cease.
---
There really should be an option to have hand-to-hand combat, gun fights, etc. outside the egg and thus potentially getting "podded" would be easier than if surrounded by an egg and ship.

why do people care how other people play, it will bring in subs, you don't want to do anything outside your ship, gotcha, other people don't want to sit at a gate and beat off to their latest kill mail, guess what everybody will be paying their 15 bucks(or equivalent currency) I know tons of people who would be playing if there was an avatar of any kind besides an egg.

Bahaha. You may be fined for breaking the facial recognition unit which grants access to station facilities :p
One thing I would like about Incarna is if there was the possibility of shady meetings in dark hallways, larger corporation meetings in rooms and things like that, it would offer a fresh sense of realism and certainly add to the game, so long as it captures the dark atmosphere of the EVE universe, which it seems to do judging from the trailer. I personally can't wait.

CCPs lack of information on Incarna is the worst thing at the moment by far! I remember when this was first touted, and its still (seemingly) no closer... Fingers crossed for the summer expansion! ---- The 3 steps to success: Mining, ?, Profit. |

From what I saw of the trailer, this is how it looks to me, 'going off grid' to get your dirty deeds done dirt cheap. This would fit well with the feel of the game and might give us a few more options for conflict, but we'll have to see. If it just turns into 2nd Life in space then it will be overlooked by a lot of players, me included.

This is oddly reminiscent of an old game I used to play ages ago, before EA cut it. Anyone remember "Earth and Beyond"? Used to rival EVE, except EVE took off, and ENB didn't. You could walk about in stations in ENB, customize your character, everything. I'd like to see Incarna launch soon. DJ Radgrif on EVE Radio Saturdays 0600-0800 GMT |

Oh I think CCP are well aware of how it would impact user base.
The problem is though they also know it could have a negative impact on existing user base if not done correctly.
Too little to do: noone would use it and stations would be empty. Too much to do: People wouldnt undock and actually play internet space ships.
Given that every single MMO release in the past 3 years has never been able to retain its user base after the first free 30 days I think CCP knows that the MMO consumer is demanding, unforgiving and not to be taken granted. Hence the need to spend the appropriate time to do it right
Personally, I am not the kind of consumer that "quits" an MMO. I will always keep the door open and will always re-subscribe if an expansion is good enough. If Eve takes a year for this, then it just means i'll be a year older =]

People have been hearing about Walking in Stations/Ambulation/Incarna for so long, that not only does it have three names by now, it will never be able to live up to the years worth of expectations people are going to place on it. I wish we could all forget that we know they are working on it, and just have it be a nice surprise when it finally hits.

Oh god no.
Originally by: CCP Eris Discordia You can have plastic surgery but I'm not sure if you can do it just on the boobs. We don't want the avatars to look very unnatural(gravity defying boobs on tiny tiny frames, it can be done but trust me those girls don't breathe during photoshoot or it takes them years of training).
It wouldn't fit into the vision we have for Ambulation to have very unrealistic looking female star ship pilots.
Now if you fear that the avatars will look dull because they can be covered..you need to broaden your horizons and explore the world of latex.
I have also another thing to add to this:

Awesome! If Incarna is half as good as Duke Nuke Forever then it'll be the second best game ever made. Right after Duke Nukem Forever, because that's the best ever no doubt and will never be beat. In fact cause of the groundbreaking sandbox mode I guess you could say Duke Nukem Forever will never actually be won cause it just keeps coming at you. Just mindblowing! I especially loved that part where you ride the Camaro they drop from the **** plane while it's on fire and you totally don't see the elephant coming before the bomb goes off. |

I'd love to be able to get out of my ship and walk around a station, talking to agents and whatnot.
However, I'm not particularily interested in any fluff that doesnt' have an actual gameplay element. For instance, I couldn't care less about a common "bar" area for chit-chatting and whatnot. I'm not 13 years old and I have no interest in playing Habbo Hotel.
I'm an ancient old MMO vet, I've seen and played most of them, certainly all the big name ones. EVE is dark and gritty. Unlike other games and stories there are no moral absolutes, everything is a shade of grey. I just don't think that having costume contests in the bar like some Sci-Fi version of Atlas Park is something that would do anything other than break my immersion.
That being said, assuming it's something that I can simply avoid by not taking part, then I have no issue with it if others enjoy it. --- Fergus McRae
