I think i would choose frigates because it would be cool to have subsystems for little frigates.(lol)
Tell me and explain why.
Wtb frig with AF tank/gank, Inty mobility, cov ops cloak, probes.
Originally by: DTMKnight T3 frigs would be a nice addition to the game. This would let players use and learn T3 before having to spend the crazy big isk on the T3 cruisers.
Now now, letting noobs spend billions on ships they can not fly is a good thing, it measn etter loot for me. No belt like rats quite like noobs :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Didn't they say the same thing about T3 Cruisers?

For me I really want to have a science vessel (BC hull?). Something that can probe, hack, analyze, and salvage this while having the dps / tanking capability of it's T1 counterpart. Slots should probaly be limited to be able to only fit certain modules.

Edited by: Wacktopia on 22/03/2010 14:34:35 I think CCP made a good decision when making T3 ships part of the smaller classes. It gives a massive amount of flexibility without creating "buy-win".
If CCP were to rush into T3 battleships/battlecruisers, they might create a monster.
I think T3 frigates would be good to see next, I'd certainly vote that if given the option.

That's a good suggestion actually.

Not really. They only said that they'd be modular/versatile and thus more expensive, but not always better, than T2.
Cheap and not being the end of the world if you lost one never came up (and those are the two main concerns with a frigate hull)… ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I have a hard time seeing how t3 frigates would fit into the current game mechanics, when assault frigs have struggled for so long to find a viable role. Same goes for T2 battleships (black ops). Fix those two ships classes before introducing yet more same-size competitors for their intended roles.
It wouldn't surprise me if CCP sidesteps that whole balancing mess and introduces T3 barges or industrials or the like. -- Terminal Impact is recruiting PVPers for fun ops in lowsec/0.0/wormhole space. Visit our website or join ingame channel "the tict pub". |

You're all wrong. With PI the obvious direction to go is T3 industrials.
You can have a livestock subsystem, perishables subystem, Wine, Quafe, Spirits subsystem, fashionista subsystem, and maybe a cargo optimization subsystem just for grins.

The thing is, this is not something we necessarily have to expect from T3 frigates. It's a mechanism we see in Strategic Cruisers, but there is nothing that says that this is a function inherent in T3 or if it's something we see in SCs. SC:s are one implementation of T3, but they are not equivalent to T3.
In short, apart from the base components and (maybe) the modularity, there is nothing in the Strategic Cruisers that we can or have to expect to see in T3 frigates as well.

Temporary random stat loss, perhaps...?

This. Training Destroyer to V for ONE class of ship is ridiculous.

If Strategic Cruisers got a subsystem with a bonus to hack, analyse and salvage you'd pretty much have that. I think the fifth round of subsystems should definitely include this if it ever comes along.
...I'm hoping it's not an electronic subsystem.

T3 Frigates please!
I really want a T3 frigate with 25m3 drone bandwidth and a drone damage bonus. I'd even be happy if it only had 1 turret slot (for my Civilian Electron Blaster).

I like the modular aspect of t3. Personally id like to see what they'll make of t3 frigs first. T3 has a lot of potential if developed right to really shake the game up for the better. More customization = good in my opinion.

For those that think frigs are useless, look at the killboards, frigs kill larger class vessels all the time. Piloting and fitting have a lot to do with the results, I have taken out cruisers and battlecruisers (with some help) in a t1 fit rifter.
For those that say that you have to play 'so long' before you pvp, that is a big misconception. I got my first pvp kill less than 36 hours after I started.
Ok now that I'm done ranting...I would love to see t3 frigates, more variety in the ships is a good thing. A covops cloaking, heavy hitting, bubble proof, speed frig that could take a beating would be the ship of my dreams. It would make a great sub for sending force recons with bomber gangs for support and long range tackle. I do have to agree the black ops ships do need a rework and the AB bonus to AF's is a needed addition to make them viable to fly. But in all I like the direction the game is taking with t3. Who knows maybe some awesome t3 mods will be coming soon.
Just my 2 isk

The real question you should be asking yourselves is whether or not T3 frigs are going to be released with Tyrranis like CCP promised back in December. -

If the skill loss is not there for T3 frigs I will definitly be getting one. I currently fly a Tengu and am loving it. I am wondering what naming convention they will use for the frigate classes though. Sparrow, Turkey, Finch?

I think CCP needs to be really careful how they implement the rest of T3. Strat Cruisers are mostly OK and don't become ridiculous til you pimp them (Slave Proteus, Pithum A-Type Tengu) so there's plenty of reasons not to use them still.
Don't know if anyone remembers when HACs first came out, not many people could afford or even fly them but the ones who could absolutely dominated EVE combat all the way up until Tier2 BCs. Wasn't fun at all

Something like this?
[Myrmidon, New Setup 1] Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Damage Control II Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Analyzer I Codebreaker I Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners Large Capacitor Battery II Cap Recharger II

Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I

I've found the issue is more the gate restriction than b.c. not being able to fit for what you described. |

Much more interesting than that. By introducing t3 frigates ccp adds another market for the sleeper components. That has the added bennefit of a larger demand of those components.
Currently SC cannto be made cheaper because if ccp changes T3 stuff drop rates or ammount needed to build t3 ships, then will become worthless to go Wormholes. You need to keep a balance between the attractiveness fo profit for the sleeper hunters and the low enough price for the T3 buyers.
WIth more products over the same material is easier to build up a healthy economy on t3 components. We can end up in logner run with CHEAPER T3 and more proffit for wormhole explorers, because it opens up space for ccp wot work on balance.
