Bal'Ayle	Posted - 2010.05.24 14:59:00 - [152] i actually like the new ones better, when we warp close to them presently they look pretty yes, but they aren't contained in a sphere as they would normally they appear to be as gaseous clouds with intense light. now these new suns look like they should from the KM distance we actually are at from them. i mean im not being funny but as they are shouldn't we all melt? and then there is the issue of escaping their gravity etc etc... nice work CCP they aren't as spectacular artistically as before but they do look a hell of a lot more like suns would. now the planets have better graphics i think its a nice touch you altered the suns to suit =] cant wait for a couple years to go past when we start seeing two suns to one galaxy and moving solar systems :D oh the fun to be of the fun to be ^^

I've not paid for EVE since I bought my first time code on the forums when the secure system first came out. Couple of hours work for a months play time seems pretty worth it to me. Even better deals on the forums. Also, the new sun looks weird. I needs to have some form of filter applied to it as a real sun would burn your eyes out looking at it and it wouldn't look like a ball of light it would look like pure eye pain. It's a nice attempt but it looks very badly done. I think they should be trying a lot harder. Everything in EVE now looks the same! Yay. Quick, everyone into the wormhole/sun/warp tunnel! :D

Both clients show the star Arraron, as seen from the warp-in point. Keep in mind that all pics of stars where you can see the actual shape of the star are taken through filters. Want to see what a real star looks like...look up at the sun on a clear day. YOU CANT because of the blinding light. So in effect the old effect was more accurate. No doubt the new effect takes less resources...but it does look like crap IMO. ------------------------------------------------ Urging CCP to work on current issues next expansion.

This is severely disappointing, it actually looks worse then before. Also, i'm tired of seeing that same/similar graphic effect, on wormholes, every time i hit a jumpgate, its overused.... =( Where are all the solar flares? The old graphics used to look much more realistic also... ~ ° ° ° ~ Operation: Get Ank Canned!

I warped up to Ohvosamon and took two screenshots. This is the full glare/full wobbly solar flares and everything. . . and this is with my ship covering the glare, revealing the shape of the star itself. Looks pretty darned good to me.

I think its looking very nice too. I think that some just need to justify their intial feelings, so nothing CCP could have done, short of going back to the old way, would have made them happy. Getting past the minor details, the overall effect is many times better than the old.
