The team at Transgaming have finally done it. Exodus works on Linux thru WineX. With HL2 and CSS also working I no longer have a reason to use Windows XP on my main machine :) Hopefully I will have reports of WineX, EVE, and Mandrake 10.1 running on my AMD64/GeF6800 puter within the next few days.
Here is a screenie in the meantime from Transgaming's website :

Having been trained in Unix when it first was put on the market and later on Unix when it was released, and being completely unimpressed by it's capabilities, I've been a longtime detractor of anything Unix/Linux until recently.
I've been hearing much good things lately about the OS and this news has piqued my interest even more.
I look forward to your upcoming reports

I could never get the installer to work, every eve installer i've tried dies at the same point
and copying an install from elsewhere just causes eve to pump out python related errors
I would give it another go but I just trashed glibc and am rather screwed atm :>

It has been working since the Shiva beta, although there were some bugs. Since the release its working perfectly in fullscreen and somewhat buggy in a window (missing cursor). It's slower than under windows, tough. I'll try Cedega 4.2 (which has just been released) later. I'm playing under linux most of the time time now, just when i expect some fighting i boot into windows. There seems to be a little problem with the alignment of some textures, as you can see a thin distorted square on planets and ships.

Is there an easy way to dual boot Linux with Windows ME? I don't want to reinstall windows 98 on my system. How much does WinEx cost? I can research it and do it of course but I am busy so any help is appreciated.

My ATI card doesn't like the linux drivers, and software rendering is a joke as far as eve is concerned.
Still, at least now I can run EVE on linux soonÖ ====================================

Just use lilo
(lilo or grub or some other program for it is basically always included in the distro)
