In a long awaited ruling on a very controversial issue, CCP supreme justices today delivered a ground breaking decision. The long abused tactic of using mobile warp disruptors (experts say that a common street name for these devices is "bubbles") to trap people inside a system or prevent them from entering a system has been ruled as breaking the laws of honourful space combat. As the first act to end this despicable practice, CCP then sent a heroic gamemaster to remove all the bubbles from the 7UTB-F system that the local residents had deployed to prevent the peace force of the Pandemic Legion from entering the system. This peaceforce was on a mission sanctioned by the universal community to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Sadly, the gamemaster only arrived after the local savages had already used the advantage of these bubbles to defeat the valiant invading forces. However, experts are certain that CCP with its spotless reputation of absolute impartiality will no doubt establish reimbursements for the losses of the heroic attacking forces, and will apply the same to all those who have lost limbs and lifes to these despicable tactics in the past, like the horrific massacre commited by the indigenous tribes of the north on the noble southern explorers in the system of H-W. Eye witness accounts tell of the savage tribes deployed these illegal bubbles not only on a gate, but on the base camps of the peaceful explorers, calling this tactic the despicable "r ape-caging" and boasting about it as a warning for anyone else who wants to bring the light of civilisation to these barren regions of the north.
Observers expect, now that the supreme justices have spoken, that the use of these horrible tactics will see a sharp decline as even most rogue nations are fearful to incur the full wrath of CCP. We contacted all major producers of Mobile Warp Disruptors and were declined any comments. However, the infallible forces of the free market have already spoken; share prices of all major manufactures have seen a sharp decline within an hour of the announcement of this groundbreaking decision.

Bubbles prevented NC and PL from warp after the gate jump so they created unfair advantage for the defenders so as the cynojammer. Next time GM should offline cynojammer as well, so as the POS as it is creating forcefield around CSAA.

i think the GM's did already inform IT FC's that anchoring 50+ bubbles at a Gate was creating massive Lag during jumpin when they removed 70+ Large Bubbles during the last big fight in PXF when IT Pets with help from a small IT fleet did do the same thing.
if they had setup the bubbles to cover a maxim area of effect so everybody would need to burn out 80KM perhaps it would be different but stacking them up all on top of each other only serves the reason to maximize the lag players jumping in experience and it gives the enemy better chances to kill the enemy while they are still loading the grid and are defenceless

Because bubbles don't get shot or bombed ever
Pl reports are that the load lag wasn't at all bad.
Once loaded the lag only serves to buy the attackers the time to MWD out of the bubbles (at no Capacitor cost).
The bubbles were there to buy the defenders time to kill the attackers before they could warp off and any lag caused by the bubbles was negligable when compared to the 700 pilots in system all firing/repping/launching drones etc.

^this
bubbles are supposed to pin people at a gate/station/whereever; if that bubble dies within a bunch of seconds the only sollution is anchoring more bubbles. get t3 bubbles into the game, which have a range of 100km and the hp of a pos, then we will use those. times have changed, fleet sizes are bigger than they ever were. therefore alot of bubbles needs to be used, otherwhise they would be useless.

This is 'true', then its one of those "Should we laugh or cry" situations.
CCP, if this use of bubbles is a problem, then fix bubbles so you can't have them overlapping. YOU >>> own <<< the code. You are why we can do this.
Hope all 'accidentallyed' bubbles were repaid. What a lametastic response. Talk about 'immersion' breaking.
oh and if you're removing things that cause lag, bye bye drones, bookmarks, standings, fleets and caps. They 'really' screw up things.
Next patch has to be out 'soon' anyway. Might as well throw in some 'corkers' like this.
Or, next time, just do your usual 'Nothing in the logs' and close the petitions.
If there's one thing people can't stand, its double standards.

I must admit, there have been rather a large number of these 'surprise' decisions recently in favour of PL. I'm sure their pet hacker is looking in to it ;)
More seriously, though, I do think the recent PL decision to use petitions rather than in-game skills is getting a little tiring.

I don't think those situations are relevant to cite as precedence as the situations were very different. The objective in PR- and H-W was not to cause lag, but to prevent capital ships escaping from a central point, where as today it is clear the primary objective was to create lag. CCP responded accordingly and I would suggest taking up greivances with them directly.

pretty stupid to have a feature in game which is a legit component be deemed as a exploit whee people can bubble fk pos's to kill caps 50 on each gate to control a system but that same group can travel 50 jumps petition for lag and get them removed .
you cant have it both ways either you allow the bubbles as they are or remove them i dont care which but i can assure you all those systems TCF has bubbled up to plex is no different then any other system if you gonna remove them from one system then do it from them all.

Your bubbles were all anchored next to each other, the purpose wasn't to stop people warping, it was to lag them out. TCF et al place their bubbles so you have to burn a long way to get out of them (i.e. using them for their intended purpose) What you did with the bubbles and what others do bear no resemblance towards each other so the comparison is baseless.

Exactly how much do you want to leave to the discretion of individual GM's? If bubbles are an exploit, remove them. If not, leave them alone. Anyhing else justifies CCP's right to occasionally affect change on a whim.

So we are able to petition bubbles... can we petition 900+ ships? I hate to pull down the old lame comment but didn't IT alliance publicly claim they would lag out the server with their ships drones and capitals? At this point CCP should outlaw drones, capitals, fighter, fighter bombers, wrecks, pods, as well as these horrendous bubbles. In fact a fine should be added of 100 million isk per offense. This isk should then be funneled to me and my alts for spending.
Also I think this tactic of dropping bubbles should be the most extreme offense followed by using more than 2 titans as titans create lots of lag just putting 30 on field is obviously a lag instigator tactic. CCP should equate this to 150 normal capitals. This equates to 600+ BS. Any use of mass numbers of frigates is obviously another lag out tactic so we should as well limit the number of frigates in any engagement to 75. Anymore than these numbers should be automatically removed from system to jita.

If bubbles that cause lag are an exploit, how about alts/mains in shuttles (or random throw away ships) all crowding into the system to create lag? And how close is too close to be considered an exploit? Do bubbles have to be at least 10k from each other? 15k? 20k?
People will use what they have available to them.

GMs waited until we had left before removing them, they didn't have the intended effect anyway as we loaded the system pretty much fine - thanks to them being bunched together we didn't have to drive that far to get out of them.
It saved you having to pick them all up again, so I've no idea why you're being so melodramatic about it. You knew it was considered an exploit as you were there when GMs deleted BLASTs bubbles when they tried precisely the same trick under similar circumstances. Try spotting the pattern if that helps.

Yea, lets nuke shuttles too, cause its stupid to have a legit component of the game be deemed an exploit, like shuttle bombs, since people can load up shuttle bombs in carriers, we should obviously remove them.
Also, lol at the idiot talking about the local exploit. Jesus you are dumb.
Good idea lets nuke shuttles while we are at it dian is rich enough

The problem with bubbles, is that they are very very easy to kill, with a large gang, 100 BS can and will pretty much instapop a bubble. If you only have limited bubbles, say, 10 around a gate, you only need to pop 2 or 3 bubbles, and you can warp out.
Thus, placing large amounts of bubbles, is the counter, which then people get accused of creating lag. Which tbh, alot of the time isnt true, its simply the only real way to counter large gangs entering your system.
If large amounts of bubbles do cause lag, then bubbles should be changed, made larger in radius, and HP buffed, and hard limits on number of bubbles placed on a grid to be brought in, (should be easily done). This would mean that insted of 50 bubbles, you could have 10, all would cover the same area, all would have the same effective HP, and doesnt cause as much lag.

or you could develop a tactic that allows you to defend against a smaller force that doesn't involve trying to blackscreen them when they jump in.
food for thought.
In the meantime, it's much simpler to drive straight out of them as they way you guys plant them 60 bubbles, while unkillable, has an effective range not that much greater than a single bubble.

pretty stupid to have a feature in game which is a legit component be deemed as a exploit whee people can bubble fk pos's to kill caps 50 on each gate to control a system but that same group can travel 50 jumps petition for lag and get them removed

TLDR 2005, CCP came in, killed every single can even a couple that were there forever lol. And then left, and told us not to do that ever again or well get temp banned cause it causes lag and its against the rules.
So I wouldnt say this is totally new, but it is messed up. More than a few people have used lag to thier advantage, where do you draw the line, who do you help, who do you spank?

Hint to CCP. Rather than pulling stunts like this, change the gamemechanics to prevent bubbles being placed overlapping or at close proximity. But then you might as well just remove them all together. Oh did i mention, WTS bombs?

Maybe you should get more experience in 0.0 warfare, before judging people, who know how to fight in nullsec? Bubbles are placed on the gates for a reason and small hint for you: the reason is not to cause the lag. If PL can not fight around this without calling their GM, it just indicates how "good" they are at pvp.

I hope next time who ancored those bubbles and using exloit banned from game, because they breaking the game rules and EULA. So, better if u just keep your mouth close. 10 bubbles will be dead after 20 sec and therefore there is no point. in order to lock down someone today with all the numbers you need to use a massive ammount of bubbbles. and it's not like that it's just us doing this..

Lying. ~3 sec need to lock a bubble. When lagging the system, because have 800 ppl in system, like yesterday the damage is sh*t a simple locking time increasing over 20-30 sec. Many times a simple BS kill need half minute for a big fleet because lag. And do you talk about fleet will kill within 20 sec the bubbles :D No, those bubbles was there in large numbers, because IT would generating lag. Those bubbles more objects in grid and made very big disadvantage who jumping into system. Everone know 70+ bubble on gate generate big lag, this is why CCP GM not enabled this exploit with cans too.

So, wait, we're bashing each other about lag, what causes it and if it was intended to cause lag, while CCP sits back, and laughs as they just pulled the political party trick #1? Blame someone else, and watch as the blamed groups tear each other apart. ;)
How about "CCP fix your bloody game"?
It is so much fun to completely lag to death with 300 people in system. It's so much fun to pull in your drones and lose a couple to netherspace while doing so, each time, until you have none left. It's fun to use fighters, have the node crash, petition for the loss of your fighters just to hear "logs show nothing". Wait? You don't know when your node crashes?
I hope CCP finally finds the faulty bit of code that they introduced with Dominion... |

if they had setup the bubbles to cover a maxim area of effect so everybody would need to burn out 80KM perhaps it would be different but stacking them up all on top of each other only serves the reason to maximize the lag players jumping in experience and it gives the enemy better chances to kill the enemy while they are still loading the grid and are defenceless

All I can say is if we have a GM arbitrary deleting warp bubbles because he thinks they cause lag, perhaps we might get a GM to delete Dominion which we know causes lag.

I don't think you get 'PL'. We don't shoot bubbles. We aren't stuck in the bubbles with IT, they're stuck in them with us.
RB fist of **** > lagsploiting donut blobbers. Regardless of them bringing the kitchen sink and trying to blackscreen they still got owned, hard, losing multiple caps, sub-caps, FIGHTERS (OVER 1000!!!!!!), and bubbles.

I don't really get it tbh, are we talking about server side or client side lag, if its server side, why are any calculations taking into consideration the distance between a ship and a bubble being calculated on grid load, and not when the pilot clicks warp?
If it client side lag, why not just tone down or remove the bubble effects?

...These threads are pretty sweet! I thought Playtex Legion actually won the fight because CCP removed the bubbles.. Turns out Playtex got thier box kicked in and the bubbles removed from the gate just ended up saving them further humiliation..
So what I get from this thread is that Playtex needed some way to justify the beating that thier pet, NC, got after jumping 169 jumps all the way down to 7UTB..
I notice that the SC did not even make a post about the fight, yet Playtex came crying to the forums after sending in petition after petition to CCP. Sounds like Playtex promised NC a easy fight and is now worried NC won't make anymore road trips to save the leet troops again..
It's actually to bad that Playtex cried this way. I was starting to respect them for a while there but they just lost what little respect they had gained.... Just Sayin.... Dr. Shot

Edited by: iosoti on 31/05/2010 15:36:38 GM's said themselves 65 percent of the lag from this fight was due to bubble lag. I don't know why IT still does this **** when CCP told them not to in fountain. Nothing hard about mwding 20km out of a bubble, but when your blackscreened it just turns the game into ****** mode.
If the game could handle the lag CCP would not care. CCP has said multiple times not to put more than "15" bubbles on a gate or it will cause severe lag. BOB knew this but they still go ahead and do it because its worth the chance of getting a blackscreen for them.
If we could put bubbles on a gate. I too would put 10,000 bubbles on a gate so no one could ever leave grid because they are so cheap...
No lets not be dumb, I think this is the third time gm's told you this. Would you rather have your nice bubble blob and blackscreen win or have a nice fight.
GM said himself that half of the lag generated in that fight was from bubbles, but you guys still go ahead and do it. Then you guys come and whine about it on forums.

Had a chat with one of the GM's earlier. He thanked PL for petitioning the bubble spam, because not only does it cause strain in that server system, it causes it in all systems. So PL keep up the good job and petition these things to keep the server up and running.
I also asked him about NC bubble placement, he said these cause barley any lag. Reason being he said the bubbles were not close together like how BOB had it which induce lag and blackscreen effect.
I always respect PL for keeping the integrity of this game. BoB has been known for t20, pos exploits, pos bumping the lot, and now this. They even got mad when t20 got caught, blaming PL instead of seeing it as their own fault.
Anyways PL keep up the good work m8s.

Hey atlas friend I don't see what the problem is though. This kind of tactic lags out the server, if everyone spams bubbles in a lagging manner it makes the game no fun for everyone.
Why not just put the bubbles as the gm says so there is no lag, then we can all have fun.

I thought the reason they removed the bubbles is pretty obvious - IT and its predecessors have long been known to exploit the game and purposedly misuse different game mechanics for their benefit, like in this and many other cases to lag out their enemy. It's absolutely imperative that CCP intervene on such an occasion!
The reason why they listen to our side and not yours is a direct result of the aforementioned - we, the NC, play the game as it's meant to be played, not by lagging and exploiting our way to 19% efficiency.

Alot of bickering of which alliance block used lag tatics first.
But... if the game mechanics where resolved to where the exploit could not be used, then that would prevent the need of argueing and justifying anything, if you can do it, then you should be able to do it, its a sand box.
mabey warping into a system shouldn't happen at one spesific point, but anywhere or random locations Key - Alliance name: Damage Type it uses (Damage to use against it) Atlas: gay (aids cure) Northern Coalition: COAD spam (multiple front war) IT: ccp exploit (spy)

Edited by: iosoti on 31/05/2010 19:13:40 There is no way for ccp to control alot of things like convo spamming, character impersonation, all sorts of spamming, killing people in noob zones. CCP can't control these through the game mechanics but people know the rules.
Putting bubbles very close to each other within *5km* being one of them, one of the most horrendous lag exploits to exist in the game so far.
Of course they can fix bubble size, but until then don't use that as an excuse to lag out servers.

Bubble spamming makes up about 0.001% of why combat currently lags. This is a FOTW issue to ***** about because someone lost a fight. Next week it'll be something else and something different the week after.

If we want to do exploity things why not just all of atlas or someone go to jita with one of their accounts other heads, log him on, and afk 23/7 when they aren't using the account. Correct me if I am wrong, didn't PL trap BOB's Mothership fleet in delve then they all logged off and or self destructed. Instead of fighting with 20 some motherships with even odds BoB ran away because they know they are no match for PL on a 1 to 1 basis.

To those who are talking about the H-W thing, while it is not as bad as IT has done, it is funny because the SC did the same to the NC on the H-W station. How easy it is to forget that you did it to someone just one day before and when they do it to you, you complain.
I direct your attention to the following post and picture as proof.

Edited by: Marie Veedor on 01/06/2010 03:13:23 So PL jumped into this lag enducing bubble fest blind???? Cause like most fleets i've been in use things called scouts, who report things like a massive amount of bubbles on gates etc..
So if they jumped in blind - to bad, so sad learn to use scouts.
If they jumped in scouted - then they knew what was coming and shoulda been prepared by turning off brackets and unnecessary graphic effects.
OR
they could just suck it up, and take it like men/women oh and i will have to look for it but im fairly sure PL used a similar Bubbling tactic on PURE and BRUCE fleets once or twice
oh and to those talking about sportscars - petrol/8cylinders + /2doors or its a toy

This just in...
Alliance in lag tactics shocker.
This glorious tactic has been the staple since Moo corp dropped a f**k ton of cargo containers around one of there battleships, an Apoc iirc, and called it a "missile screen" either way saying it's an exploit is no good unless it is fixed, and that hasn't happened.
Is it unfair? I suppose it is, I don't doubt for one minute that anybody in IT had any doubt it would cause lag and they were more than happy about it, but you can't call it an exploit and leave the player base with no clear idea of how to use multiple bubbles on a gate, fix it or leave it be, but you can't leave it as it stands without clarification.

Yup. Cause all systems in EVE are on the same node, so those bubbles lagged Jita.
Except that they didn't lag the system. PL were quite clear on that...or hadn't you noticed that little factoid?
Originally by: FireIceHulk Hey atlas friend I don't see what the problem is though. This kind of tactic lags out the server, if everyone spams bubbles in a lagging manner it makes the game no fun for everyone.

As it is, nuking a g8 with bubbels is to ceep ppl from warping of, while having backup bubbels, yes its beeing done, by everyone, how many depends on fleet size and isk'ies... Does it cause lag? maybe, maybe not. but why nag about bubbels at a g8's. IMO alot of bubbels aint the main ishue... the ishue is the lag on servers aint a prioritise from ccp's side.. they making more crap and feauters in the game, and it lags more.. shure, ceep ppl playing by offering new ****.. but wth... where is the fun in having a system with planets.. (on these planets is the new uber industry thingy.. pos's at moons.. u name it)if the lag just ceeps getting worse? We all know fleets are big. Why cant ccp just... use some of the money we pay to get some heavier equipment or more of the heavy equipment they have? Bigger hamsters m8's.. then xx bubbels on a g8 would not be a problem for an engagment.. and maybe even a propper fleet would run smoother.. ok, maybe not with the smaler universe we now use but u know what i mean :)

Funny..
But i think i have a point tough.. as longs as stuff exist in game, bubbels in this particular case, ppl are gonna use em. so to remove bubbels.. witch serve a purpose.. is better than focusing on boosting the whole darn thing?
As some pl dude wrote, we just did not petition it first... all the big warfare going on ingame, and ppl are just as focused on what they can petition rather than the fight itself.. why? because the product we pay for, and use, lags... No i dont know what ccp realy does to fix lag, but i beleive thing did not get better with the last pack of candy. And they encurrage all of us to fight big, dont they? Yes the fleet notefy is nice, gives em a chance to boost the power... but as warfare can be unpredictable.. why not boost things on a more permanent base?
South, north, east, west.. dont mather where u look...war is numbers..nubmers cause lag.. ad a coctail of pos's, roids, planets, drones etc.. things dont run any smoother for shure..
and this whole thread boils down to lag, petition of alot of bubbels witch created lag.. called exploit in this case.. im just saying.. if things in general was running smoother.. xx bubbels on g8 would not even be an ishue.. maybe..

Wait. Your suggestion, if someone using exploits for lag generator, thats fine and not need petition ? If its true, you are terrible player and terrible poster.
Maybe i have more 0 sec kill than you ? So better if you dont try evading. Exploit using is cheat. Like 70+ bubble on gate. I hope next time who ancored those bubbles and using exloit banned from game, because they breaking the game rules and EULA. So, better if u just keep your mouth close. The GM-s used their jobs and remove those items , but what about you dear Bob spawn ? Think to me do you not remember T20 GM ?
dude i dont know u but , lets try that ur iq understand it: me + carrier + 10 fighter, + 100 other friends in carrier and 10 fighter = lagg so u gona petition me for that ? and t20 are so 2005 ... go play tetris pls

yes you do have a point. ignore the trolling it's mostly due to your english
dunno if you were around for delve 2 but at the begining we used to have 500v500 fights (or in that region) and it was really enjoyable
mad props on actually not being ******ed enough to comprehend the situation regarding that petition. it was sent during formup in hopes they will get stripped before the fight. after the fight it was just unnecessary but oh well it generated tears

You lying. 1. Goons never used shuttle exploits. That was a Jugoslavian corp in Jita (named 4S,SAS) which used war crime ticker and banned from game by CCP. http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=288
2. IT and Atlas used the POS exploits.
3. If you see NC used bubbleexploits in H-W, why didn't peticioned to CCP, like what PL did with IT bubbles?
So, dont lying, just tell the truth.

Unfortunately you need to be ****ant Legion or Vuk in order to have that kind of influence.
PL is still sticking to their usual damagecontrol. When they are all out of excuses and lies they stick to smacking. They are like the NC, when the going gets tough they whine to ccp.

It seems to me there's a lot of snivelling and whining about what could be an easy fix. CCP, everytime there's an 'exploit', perhaps you can create an 'exploit killer'. In other words, if someone's using bubbles, why not create a way to research a 'bubble killer' component that can be mounted onto a ship/ships, and can be activated before jumping into a system protected by a bubble? A legitimate counter for a legitimate tactic. Just a suggestion.
A good social program is a job.

I see you're still Mental, Dude.
I honestly don't know where you get these crazy delusions and wild accusations from. There's no evidence of any use of a "local exploit" and I don't see how an e-corp in an internet spaceships game can be accused of harbouring criminals - it's crazy talk, I think you're having difficulty distinguishing between reality and fiction.
In short, you're a balloon.

if they had setup the bubbles to cover a maxim area of effect so everybody would need to burn out 80KM perhaps it would be different but stacking them up all on top of each other only serves the reason to maximize the lag players jumping in experience and it gives the enemy better chances to kill the enemy while they are still loading the grid and are defenceless

Bubbles are producing lag?Why u guys didn't removed any from H-W when there was over 1k people? Don't tell me in H-W wasn't that many bubbles,i saw about 10 on 1 single pos! Great job rly it's giving a reason for lot of people to stop play your game guys.

Edited by: Scott Wieland on 25/06/2010 16:36:01 I agree that having multiple bubbles set to overlap eachother is needed so a hole in the "no fly zone" can't be made quickly. However, if you do not have a fleet to engage on the gate to prevent this from hapening quickly then whats the point... Yes they are used to control gate access to cover caps on a pos bash and what not but stacking 50+ right ontop of eachother only serves to cause lag for any fleet jumping in. It is unfortunate that it would have to come down to a judgement call to determine if you are overkilling by stacking or putting up enough in tactical possitions in order to overlap. I will say that you can overlap large bubbles enough that you would still need to kill multiple bubbles in order to get a large number of your fleet members out rather then just one hole maybe a quarter of your fleet can warp out of quickly all the while the hostile fleet is engaging you. I can't remember ever being in a fleet and having an FC telling us to pop bubbles so we can warp out while being blasted by the bad guys short of only being 1-2 bubbles. Can this be sorted by increasing the distance between objects and the bubble in order to anchor them? And scale that distance by the size of the bubble your using? This would prevent extreme stacking.. or maybe some sort of penalty for too many bubbles overlaping causing a "feed back loop" so you can not anchor anymore? I don't agree with overkill when it comes to bubbles because it does lag me to death but when I was reading about this I could not help thinking... HEY why are you using 150 ships to fight 50... your exploiting the game by using so many to cause lag!! Sorry if any points I made here have already been said I did not read every reply here.

You should probably delete my quote buddy, it makes your company look worse than the original post

on a side note... PL petitioning exploits... wait.... PL petitioning exploits?! this is a joke right... PL petitioned for exploits. lol.

I've been gone a long time. I assume IT is what BoB became, and they are using tactics now deemed exploits.
Surprise farking surprise

I've just read page one and it strikes me as a pretty dumb solution to remove a few bubbles to counter lag... when they could have removed PL instead and been done with it. We all know it's fleet engagements that create lag, not bubbles :P Just logging in to the game creates lag... CCP should just delete EVE and then it's ok :P

Have to admire CCPs ability to listen to feedback from the playerbase and take quick action to shut down exploits whenever found and reported.

Confirming that IT declared that they would be crashing as many nodes as possible during their failvasion on the NC, then did it, and still ended up walking back home with their tails between their legs. NC > IT + random smattering of noob alliances (Atlas, ROL, etc) + lag + glitches on gates + glitches in systems + merc wars.
