I dont think people should be alowed to buy / sell characters in the first place.. to me that amounts to nothing less that cheating and am pretty stunned it goes on.
Got no sympathy for anyone getting scammed in this way at all..

erm ok, I'm not currently active in eve but this entire sharade disgusts me but not for the reasons people probably think.
Suppose you have some drugs, lets call this drug for example 'amazing cheese drug' or acd for short, right ya'll still with me? Great stuff...
Ok now you can take this drug in two ways, you can EITHER snort the drug OR you can smoke the drug..
HOWEVER ONE method of taking this drug is illegal, namely snorting it, whilst the other, smoking it, is completely fine... this would be an utterly stupid state of affairs no?
YES IT WOULD BE AND DON'T ANYONE EVEN THINK ABOUT DISAGREEING WITH ME THANX.
So now what we have is an ISD chocked (or at least very closely linked cos yes hello how many other corps get free supposedly unique bships to give away OMG ROFLER CHORTLE) corp like BIG who can SELL characters for isk, using an OUT OF GAME WEBSITE (yes the eve website with its char transfer stuff is OOG). However people who sell characters on ebay (ANOTHER OUT OF GAME WEBSITE OMG SURPRISE DO U SEE THE SIMILARITY HERE YES?) get banned and naughty stuff done to them...
DOES THIS SEEM STUPID TO NOBODY ELSE? (THINK BEFORE ANSWERING PLS COS IF U DISAGREE UR WRONG)
SORT UR POLICIES OUT CCP COS ATM U JUST APPEAR WEAK AND POWERLESS TO ACT ON ANYTHING!
I am not implying here that BIG is in anyway wrong or that fret is write infact I really couldn't care less about either of them to be perfectly honest.
Anyway there we go.. Thats how it is and if u dont think it is this way then uv'e prolly been smoking to much ACD (AHAHAH YES MY THEORITICAL EXAMPLE 4TW)

Stav, the "Transfer character" service that CCP provide is a pretty good sign that they reluctantly accept this to work like it does.
E-bay involves transactions for dollars, this was a transition in ISK. I think that's the main difference.
How that ISK came to be is an unrelated question.

Dear Fret did you ever think the transfer hasent gone thru yet because CCP is swamped with silly petitions.
I predict that your char transfer is lost in the system till CCP gets to it.
But i must also say that thread about him having friends that login his account would worry me!

Ok lets be honest here riddari, ccp can't do squat to stop isk sales on ebay all they can do and have been shown to do in the past is to stop direct sales of characters.
I mean if this crap is allowed u could make VERY VERY tidy profit signing up for say 10/20 eve accounts, training them for say 6 months then selling them all on.
This is infact one of the worst judgement calls i have ever seen CCP make, I mean what IF i sell my char on ebay FOR ISK ingame?? Is that allowed? What if i trade my char ingame for say 10 bships? IS THAT allowed?
The simple answer is its a slippery slope, once u allow one form of char/account (lets not mince words here NOBODY cares about acccounts just chars) u pretty much open the floodgates to lamerdom.

The GMs are investigating the situation and a resolution is forthcoming shortly. The results of the investigation will be kept between the players involved and will not be released to the player base. Further discussion on the topic is not going to have an effect on the results of the investigation and there is no need to drag any of the parties involved through the mud or a public lynching.
