Dear Capsuleers
I would like to bring it to the general capsuleer's attention that Chribba's System of 9UY4-H in Providence has been SBU'd today.
More information as it becomes available.

In the even that it gets under someone elses control, I thank you for letting me complete one of my goals in EVE, and if so I hope the new "owners" will respect its history that the system and station has and continue to honor its legacy.

ALERT: Sovereignty claim is vulnerable to attack! From: Otherworld Enterprises Sent: 2011.09.23 16:05
Your infrastructure hub and outposts in 9UY4-H are vulnerable to attack, as the connections to the system-¦s stargates have been disrupted by one or more Sovereignty Blockade Units.
Re-establish the connection(s) to the system-¦s stargate(s) to retain sovereignty.
Also, outpost is set to exit at 03:00, but I have zero knowledge about any of the sov mechanics since I only do that mining lasers stuff haha - but I guess I will know when when I cannot dock any longer

Make sure coms are set (Holy Veldspar is a good start). Use EVE voice if necessary for voice comes.

A. Incredibly stupid. B. Trying to be epic trolls. C. Just got wardecced by half a dozen major alliances D. All of the above.
Its one thing to irritate people with sov mechanics. Is another thing entirely to irritate/grief one of the most respected people in EVE. |

Is there any additional info on this? Is there an I-Hub in system? is the outpost reinforced? if so, when does it come out?
Do we have a time for defense or any organization? is there a strategy for getting people out there?
Has anyone talked to the three alliances in line for safe passage to the system? We need to defend Chribba not die in the process. |

Well, if the Outpost is taken, just stay there and don't undock.
Continue to work the market as usual, or better yet buy up anything they put on the market at a reasonable price and sell it back to them at a huge mark up.
Not that it sounds like they would have much market activity anyway though. To kill the enemy and break their toys!

E-Uni is having a month where their SoP is set aside. I do not know if that includes the rule about not entering Sov Space. But I do know that a E-Uni director has always had the right to take a fleet into Sov space.

Disclaimer: The following is how I remember it going down. Some finer details may be mistaken.
The defence started up with a few people joining Chribba's usually rather empty Holy Veldspar channel on EvE - we found Chribba talking in there explaining how he was unsure about the sov system and what he could do to defend it. We told him about destroying the SBUs but he was quite adamant that he wished to remain entirely neutral and did not want to appear on any killmails.
We decided to go ahead and begin forming up a fleet - adding people who X'd up in the Holy Veldspar channel as well as squad commanders bringing in members of their own corps and alliances. The fleet began growing and was soon at around 40 people.
Knowing that there was a potential for being attacked we decided that the best cost to damage would be to bring stealth bombers, and people from all over the galaxy began heading towards Esa. Some people were coming from 30+ jumps away, stopping by the various trade hubs to tool up etc so it took a while for people to form up.
At the same time we had a corp staging to bring in a fleet of 9 dreadnaughts, until we found out that the system was cynojammed and we would not be able to get them in without opening it up for a much larger hostile hot-drop looking for opportunistic kills. We were considering going in using black-ops jump portals but this idea was thrown out when we discovered that the black ops pilots would need to travel 30 jumps to pick up their widows.
Instead, and as the defence fleet already had scouts moving into the Esa to 9UY pipe and all was reported clear I decided to lead the first squad of approximately a dozen bombers through into null and apart from a couple of anchored bubbles we got there and began to engage the SBU on the ZQ gate.
After a while of firing torpedos into the side of it we were engaged by a lone en-garde bomber, which successfully managed to take out a couple of people before the fleet's slow-ass torpedos managed to pop it and remove it from the equation. The support fire kept up until 3 dramiels jumped the gate and started jumping between safe spots, although not engaging to begin with.
By this time we had another group ready in ESA and Xyloplax lead them down the pipe. They joined us on the ZQ gate and its shields started going down significantly quicker.
Just as we had the SBU into armour the bomber fleet was engaged by a group of about half a dozen Occupational Hazard vagabonds which all warped onto the grid at once. At this point the FCs called to scatter and people hit their cloaks and made for random celestials as OH aligned towards the gate from their ~180km warp in.
At this point I fell out of the loop for a few minutes due to my EvE clients locking up as soon as the engagement started. I lost my main but managed to get my other SB to safety which I used to scout for the rest of the op.
When I got back in to find myself in a pod, most people had made their way towards Chribba's station which was now being camped by various vagabonds and other similar nasties.
While this was all going on we had a separate EvE University fleet making their way in from various parts of the galaxy and around this time they punched their way through to 9UY bringing in what looked to be a mixed BS / BC fleet. There was lots of excitement as local spiked to about 150 as they jumped in and gave warnings to the hostiles that they were there to defend the system, and that they would fire upon anyone who attempted to prevent them from doing so.
The IVY fleet tore through one of the SBUs with relative ease and was ready to move on when local spiked even higher with a large NCDOT fleet entering followed shortly after by another large fleet, which I can't remember, who then proceeded to knock seven bells out of each other.
After a knock down the other fleet left, leaving NCDOT who apparently then went chasing after IVY - leaving a few people behind who kept the rather flimsy SB fleet locked down in station with a combination of interdictor bubbles and HICs.
A few bombers did manage to get out at various points, and engaged in some bombing runs, although the damage only seemed to be minimal but most of the remaining NC. jumped out except for a few tacklers on the gates which we were lining bombing runs up against with what we could scrap together.
The original defence fleet was having a bit of a logistical issue as the 9UY station was somewhat lacking in supplies, and it was a scramble to buy bombs, torpedoes and replacement ships with not enough to go around. I had my alt scout lining up a bombing run on a few of the tackles when the gate started flashing like crazy as dozens of ships jumped back through and all warped off towards another gate.
I followed them lining up again for the bombing run hoping to suicide a few of them as they held at an SBU but the next thing I knew a cyno had gone up - I'm not sure if the generator was destroyed or if Chribba lowered it - but a flash of jump bubbles appeared and the grid now played host to about half a dozen NCDOT motherships all popping fighter bombers and engaging the SBU - so I peeled off to watch.
Was an impressive sight and the supers took down the SBUs one at a time with painful ease considering the time it had taken the public / ivy fleets to take down the previous SBU. The system soon dropped out from vulnerable, to contested, and then as the final SBU went boom it returned safely into Chribbas veldspar-loving hands.
NCDOT moved on but a few other neutrals stayed behind in system - the defence fleet made a mad dash to get out and start moving back to high-sec, it was a bit of a scary time for some because as they were not expecting to be fighting they ended up in null with full sets of +5 or worse. There was much cheering as they made it back into high. |

Wow, what an incredible few hours !!
Shout Out to all the Capsuleers involved. I was and still am pleasantly surprised as to how disparate individuals, Corps and Alliances can band together in such a manner. The Call to Arms was amazing, thanks for all the fun ! I eventually made it back to HiSec (Yes I'm a carebear - doesn't stop me "touring" the savage empire).
To the FC of the first fleet - Awesome stuff mate and a very good call in the first moments to get the Bombers away from the Vagabonds and Scimitars that showed-up during the first SBU take-down. No way I can see a bomber take on a Vagabond (we'd pop for sure). Perhaps a whole bunch of suicide bombers could deal them good alpha. Good call man, good call. Please though, next time you're eating choc-chip cookies and drinking fresh tea - keep quiet about it! I was frikken starving!! hehe.
Great fun, a very good evening and time well-spent.

But I do find a fleet op is better with a cup of tea and chocolate digestive biscuits that have been nicely chilled in the fridge for an hour or two.

As for the smaller groups: a few have done this kind of stuff - at times finding those bigger alliances hunting them out of existence if they do more than inconvenience him and this isn't just about "liking him".
There really aren't many in this game that can claim the kind of business trust Chribba can and that has value to many.
Even ignoring his list of websites and the like: Business is business and messing with it, when multiple parties are involved, can annoy ALL those entities - not just your chosen target. |

Thank you for that report, it most definitely helps in undertanding what went on beyond the scope of what was visible to us during the encounter. It was truely an awesome display of why we simply has the best community around! I had loads of fun (except having a heartrate at 180 (not good btw lol)) and silly me just being scared shitless of undocking and being locked for 2 sec before I warp away in my all so WCS'ed Tengu (I know right ).
Seeing pilots from a wide range of alliances, teaming up, and even shooting at each other for the fun, talking in local, in Holy Veldspar, in fleet.
One word: EPIC
Being there, having no idea what would happen, not really telling anyone what to do either, seeing people step up as FC's forming gangs, destroying stuff. Simply amazing.
Seeing local spike as NC. arrived, wondering wtf was going to happen when initial voices said they are shooting everyone, only to then jumping in a massive supercap fleet and completely raping the SBU's - wow!
I had tons of fun, despite my carebearness, I hope you did too, and I am honored to have been a part of this (imo) historic event. Can't say it enough times, but this is the reason why I keep playing this game, the community is simply outstanding and amazing! I thank you so much for letting me a part of it! Burseg Sardaukar ! Damn, that brings back great memories of the Dune Universe
The "party" was 17 jumps away from me, into Amarr space, where my life was threatened by the Amarr Navy, thanks to my dismal standings due to doing missions for Gallente. I was glad to reach the system everyone involved gathered at in one piece. It was only 17 jumps from my homebase in Highsec, but those were a very dodgy 17 jumps
What really excited me was the fact that so many different players, from all sorts of alliances and corps, got together at what was basically the drop of a hat. Yes, it could have been better organised - given more time, but this is what makes Eve real to me, this is why I pay subs and ignore 80% of the bad press CCP et al are getting over Incarna.
Incarna is not the end-all, say-all or do-all of Eve. It has not "broken" the game for me, especially after this spontaneous event took place.
Once again, kudos to the Fleet Commanders for their (obvious) experience in running fleets. It was an evening I personally have marked in my memories as my first "real" Eve experience. My several NDE's (near death experiences) on the night gave me a rush I have not experienced in a long time of playing MMO's. It's not the PvP, it's the action and interaction.
I look forward to one day joining a decent Corporation so that I can partake in more Fleet battles and Incursions Hopefully that day is not too far off for me - I just have to convince myself that my skills are decent enough, that my experience is fair enough, where I can contribute something positive when joining a Corp.
Cheers Burseg, I hope to see you in a fleet battle soon. (This space for rent) |

It's too easy for you to sit there and be upset that no-one is organising a fleet against the Russians, but what are the details? What's actually happening ?
I would assume that folks are hoping that Supercaps are somehow nerfed so they are not so super-powerful and are thus hanging on before a big comeback against the Russians.
Although I agree with your sentiment, I have no real details on which to base a decision. Am I the only one in the same boat ?

Lots of questions as you see. I'd love to help, but why and how.
Cheers.
Being just a Newb provides you with a good chance to view the.game with the unsore eyes if bitter-vettness.. its not hard to find out what the DRF are about. If you choose to believe the hype on them bobbing for the better of EvE, then you have chosen to close your eyes to the real fact. They do it for the Botting, they do it for the RMT, they do it to grief. Not to unify people against CCP..
I Know CCP put super-caps in the game, but they aren't the ones that choose to abuse the mechanics of the super and sov warfare. That was the blob and those that went under their "control".
"If you can't beat em' become their *****'.." mentality has led the game and 0.0. To this state IMHO, but I'm no expert..I'm just an unbitter-newb. Who hasn't been blobwashed and forgotten about why I play the game.. |

How much time do we have to do this? Kelduum has promised a medal for everyone who stays in the University for the whole Hell month, so if we join RANKS we would lose that one... Which is more important? "Heeded the clarion call to assist the closest thing to a living God in the cluster", or "Made it through a month of school". Just asking ...
Neither. While doing both of these has been great, the absolute best thing is learning how different things work. Until the Holy Veldspar fleet, I for one had never been in an operation this big, nor partisipated in SBU destruction, or seen bubbles in action and tried avoiding them, or had to scatter from several bombs launched directly in the middle of our fleet. Sure we had some losses but I'm sure each and every single person in that uni fleet will agree when I say the best thing about it was putting what had only been theory up to that part, into real practice.
So medals or not, it's been well worth it. |

Cry Moar. The reason the game has probably gotten so far and successful is with the aid of chribba, he in my opinion and probably many others is the greatest influence outside of CCP. The reason everyone runs to his aid is because of his status and how he has in turn aided the game.
The reason nobody gives two ***** about you in providence is because what have you done for the game that justifies the help? Also because providence and many other systems change hands so often and have done for years, and finally because chribba keeps his station open for all to use, that most likely is not the case for the rest of null.
The DRF taking over all of null sec is a good thing, not because they will control all of null but it shows that null sec is broken and can be taken, with the exception of NPC space, by a single coalition blobbing with extreme numbers of supercaps and will hopefully get fixed.

Chribba, sorry I missed out on all the fun, being unsubbed and all. But with the recent news of fixes being implemented at some point, I knew I would be back one last time. Hello empire dwellers!
This single event is a daily affair in the life of someone in 0.0.
It's awesome to see you all band together to defend Chribba and work as a team. I know there's a lot of hate with the whole Empire vs. Nullsec types, but this is the type of excitement and randomness we deal with every day. It makes EVE interesting and we do it for the teamwork that builds within our alliances.
I think it's pretty sweet that many of you who've never gotten involved in this aspect of EVE have had a chance to get your feet wet.
@Chribba, your alliance receives a notification mail when the SBU's are dropped. That notification is able to be pulled via API and can be forwarded to mail/sms/Chribbasystemdefense.com.... etc.
Maybe you can setup something to broadcast whenever your system gets SBU'd with an RSS feed. |

I picked a bad time to be away from game and missed the fun :( Nice to see Ivy involved, not had any ivolvement with them for years, but I do know it would have taken the leadership about zero two points of a second to make that decision and commit.
From it's beginings the station in 9UY Has stood for freedom of a sort.(yes not all will agree) Firstly under Ushra'Khan until it was taken by CVA forces, and then retaken years later by a patient and persistant Ushra'Khan due to a combination of timing of events and help from -A- . After that things got messy for a while until it fell into the hands of Chribba who kept it open for all to use. A market and haven for any and all travelers through that part of space. A beacon of hope.
Chribba is more than just a name or a single pilot. And just like the cause of freedom people will always fight to preserve what is right.

lemme summerize that.... you're emoraging on the forums becouse your unable to defend your space? and your blaming everyone for defending chribbas system, (a person wo is repected by all the big alliances and many people within eve, becouse nearly everyone has at least used one of his services once!) and not your space.... ehm...
basically you've got 3 options: 1. get better at defending your space 2. go to LS or HS if you're unable to do so 3. build something up for the eve community for the next 4 years, and then come back and cry for help

Because you have one station in 0.0 that is controlled by a minor alliance if that. They are not paying to be there. They are in an area that traditionally is NRDS. Because despite all the power blocks people belong to, or not, Chibba's station is the fairy tail of what 0.0 should of been. So people defend it, because in some ways it is a dream of what they thought 0.0 would be like, before reality set in.
So where they defending Chibba directly or where being self centered and defending there own dreams. You won't get a single person to admit to the above, but I bet deep down it was the motivation for some.

Okay.. Wash and Repeat for every system that shoud've been the dream of 0.0. It still does not squash the fact that people are willing to defend for others than for their very own.

Agreed And now you understand EVE and people in general. Most people live there entire life in Hypocrisy, why should that be any different when they enter a game. People are what they are, if you want logic talk to a Vulcan.
Or better yet this quote from the Men in Black speaks volumes of truth, in regards to what a person would do by him/herself and what they would do once they are in a group, the very essence of Hypocrisy.

Sentient Blade wrote:Disclaimer: The following is how I remember it going down.
Obsidian Hawk decided to go ahead and begin forming up a fleet - adding people who X'd up in the Holy Veldspar channel as well as squad commanders bringing in members of their own corps and alliances. The fleet began growing and was soon at around 40 people.
Note, sentient blade is bad at telling stories. Just mention W-J...
