except they dont, they now use the same code as any other item for being transported or stored in a hanger.
Stop trying to weasel around the fact you want something you arent willing to pay for.

Edited by: Stick Cult on 10/08/2010 19:16:31 If rats drop PLEX's, then they will have special status. Right now, they have as little special status as is possible for an item you redeem for gametime.
No.

I've never owned a PLEX; use one; bought one. I'm not trying to get around anything.
But .. CCP says they aren't special. Fine, why can't players obtain them due to lucky NPC drops? Some pretty expensive things drop all the time?

Because CCP, which let us not forget is a for profit business not a support system for EVE, decided that giving free game time away in an activity it recieves no additional revenue for players peforming wouldnt help them make money. Start paying CCP for the right to rat then I might agree with you.
Also what stick cult said in the post below.

Why can't tech 2 BPCs drop from rats too? Why can't ships from from rats? Why can't PI goods drop from rats? Why can't datacores drop from rats? Why can't moon goo drop from rats?

Isn't it exactly what CCP is doing? they want the money but dont want to have to provide the service the money was given to them for. The sky was blue but there was no god. |

too hard to balance implementing it, nullsec only? alliances will farm the hell out of it. lowsec? same alliance blobfest highsec plexes? would be farmed to death mission? either insanely low drop rate, or it would be to common. all would be stupid. it could work if a balance was made.

on the 1% chance that this isnt a troll and someone this stupid was actually successfully managed to fill out the necessary details to create an eve online account and navigate the forums to create this thread, wait better make thats 0.5%
NPC's drop plex's every day
A-type hardener --> 300m --> plex vindi BPC ---> 900m ---> 3 plex cyn BPC ---> 300m ---> plex
A plex is the ingame traded value that the population of eve attribute to the real world service of 30 days of subscription to eve online. No more no less.
for the 199 alternate worlds where this was just a troll, 4/10 for the bait.

t2 construction components don't drop from rats either. Nor do t1 big guns.
As I understand it the only stuff that drops from rats are the stuff that is in their loot table. So, it would seem, that Ms. Eleventy One has her wish already PLEXes do not have special status. Lucky Ms. Eleventy One.

While I don't think plex should be something that drops easily why not make it a possibility for some of the tougher NPCs. Some drop loot worth months of game time in isk value so whats the difference if you get plex.
My favorite part is that CCP can be bothered to change the mechanic and take your money in the hopes that they will not have to provide any service in return but they cannot be bothered to truthfully describe how plex works on their office support kb article.
Linkage
This link is provided on the account section if you were to click buy plex and then wanted an explanation of what it is and how to use it. The wiki article is also provided but is contradictory and the recent changes have been simply tacked on to the very bottom of the page. The sky was blue but there was no god. |

CCP doesn't take your money. If you're a big enough ****** to undock with plex, and don't accept the risks, then you deserve it. I don't understand your problem with that support article.

PLEX are issued to capsuleers, all those NPC rats are just regular scrub pilots who are not eligible for capsuleer licenses so it's unrealistic for them to drop them.

It states they cannot be moved out of a station and must be traded in place. This would lead one to think they cannot be destroyed.
Not a huge gripe but if they can change a game mechanic they can update the page advertising what they are selling. The sky was blue but there was no god. |

Good point. I changed my mind they should not be able to NPC drop. How often does that happen in forums. LOL
Now I think they should ALWAYS drop when the ship carrying them pops so ccp will have to provide the service to someone at some point and also to promote the carnage that will follow as people kill people simply to directly steal gametime.
Imagine the chain of death for the 73 plex dropped in jita. The can with plex would be so toxic, anybody who touched it would die, only to be scooped again and for that person to die. Imagine how much isk we could get circulating over all the lost material and ships. This would be great for industry. The sky was blue but there was no god. |

But then plex will be special items! But why? Once the GTC is converted to plex, you accept the risk that it could be destroyed and CCP won't have to give you gametime.

Oh god this thread is so terrible. The last thing we need is more unimportant squabble about this very serious PLEX issue. Read the other thread and make sure you understand the issue at hand before posting more on this matter please. That goes for people on both sides of the argument. Including you OP.

Actually, I am in favor of this. I wanna say...... .01% chance of drop from officers/highest-end complex overseers?
Add 0s as necessary to make the drop rate 1 every day or two.
There- no special status for any items, and it costs CCP less than they probably spend on paper ;)
I mean, they'd need to have it go on for like 4 months for them to break even on how much they made from that idiot in jita ;)
