I've been doing missions for a long time, since September and I found that after moving to a cruiser I no longer want to pick up loot because I waste 5 minutes getting there, then moving to the next can, and when there's 9 cans to be picked up all 10 KM apart (due to the fact that I'm in a Moa and I use railguns) it becomes a pain in the ass. The biggest problem is when the enemies are actually hard and I have to warp in at 40 KM instead of 15KM. Then it takes me 10 minutes or so to pick up all the loot. I realize that this might sound like a stupid idea, but can't we just get the loot auto-scooped up into our inventory no matter the distance as long as we were the ones to kill it and if you're in a gang allow a lot option, like people randomly rolling numbers and the person with the highest number for that piece of whatever gets the piece. I don't care if there is no story behind this but I'm sure many people are getting sick of this as well.
CCP if you wish to put a time sink into the game, make it something that isn't as boring as waiting for your ship to go to a tiny ass can and then picking the stuff out of it. I'd rather be clicking on monsters for 9 hours (*cough* grinding) then sitting on my computer watching a piece of crap get bigger and bigger so I can finally push "Open Cargo". I don't see what the downside of using the auto pick up loot system and lotting for stuff if you're in a gang. This refers to NPCs only by the way, everyone will be *****ing if they apply this to PC kills. Oh and one more thing, I really don't care if there is a story or not about why it turns out like this..there doesn't have to be one >,<!

Last dev blog said they were considering adding "salvage drones" that would fly around picking up your loot for you.

An instant soultion wouldnt really work, but something like this'd be great.
Lock the cans, fire the drones, and get the loot scooped to your cargo hold.
You'd have to sacrifice drone space to do this, however.

That would be uber
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

And while we're at it lets just add some wizards and elves and dwarves and I bet a bunch of people would prefer that too...

thanks to DuesEx777, i was instructed of a handy way to get the loot from missions. bookmark every mission location you warp to, including one bookmark after every gate you jump thru for the silence the spy dood mission. after about 3 missions/1 hour of doing missions, grab a MWD kestrel or other missile boat frig (usually have the largest cargo hold) with a couple of standard missile bays loaded with light missiles. then go to each bookmark and fill yourself up, warping to each can if the distance requires it and loot what you need. if you dont pop a can, pop it with your missiles so you dont end up going to the same one (tagging doesnt seem to work for me) ---
Was it good for you? |

I have an idea, to solve all your loot problems.....
Get someone in a frigate to pick it all up.
Job done :)

could have something like a tractor beam, med slot gadget for pulling in cargo from something like 20km away (possible increase with skill), would annoy jet can miners though :)

wait til u start doing lvl4 kill missions. Some of these have multiple BM's and atleast 10 rats in each spawn. I did pirate slaughter last night, 10BMs, about 130 ships in total to blow up, each one dropping a can. Mission took me an hour, scooping and reproing took 1.5hours.
Why do i bother scooping all the loot? Cos it melts down into minerals with which to build more torps (and enuf base mins to build a BS [i only had to buy mega + zyd to build a raven, everything else came from 3-4 days of missions]) plus the 25% spander i picked up, which is worth another 15mil, aswell as the other bits and pieces.
Yes it would be nice to have something to get all the loot but its not that much of a chore to get it all, especially when u get what i have described above.

a) you can now scan a container b) npc's are easy, fit MWD's and it will go much faster

As princes said you can lock and scan a container, I belive you use the cargo scanning module to do this.
I would prefer not to waste a slot and just spend the time collecting the loot,

I always collect the loot.
If you want it, put in the effort. If you're too lazy/can't be bothered/don't have time, then just warp home.
alternatively, get someone else to grab the loot, fit out for a faster ship, or dock, and get a cruiser out.
I make more off looting cans than I do for doing the missions these days. The time spent is well worth it.
Think of collecting the loot cans as another part of the mission. Or just stop complaining, I don't mind. .
