This. Though it does favor the hometeam corp/alliance somewhat if the caps are already in system, and pity the Sansha fools that decide to invade a staging hub. Or imagine the tears when a pos bashing fleet canŠt return home because the sansha have decided to take up residence. I don't get it really.
You talking like Faction Warfare style NPC interaction? - You kill lots of NPCs, complete your objectives, but then it resets rather than tips a see-saw? - This will have to same core issue as FW that is: If you achieve your goals, retake the systems/conquer the sanshas, then it resets - The it all really has no point and is just a time comsuming cycle.
Now if you make these events properly dynamic - so for example you defeat the Sanshas, then their next campaign escalates and things can dynamicly change - for example: If the capsuleers then fail to reah all objectives then Sanshas can take some NPC Sovereignty, then that might make sense.
Your suggesting people wont just farm these NPC events because they can move around * Newsflash* Pod pilots can move too. And it sounds to me you're more likely to introduce a Deltole Mk II where you get a bunch of "efficient" farmers rather than dynamic NPC content affecting all.

@Devs
Are there minimum requirements about how many players may be needed to complete these PvE things? I.e. in hi sec, do you need at least say 10 BS + RR? Can you make these things like Diablo randomly generated maps for maximum replayability?
Also, why would a farmer be enticed to pour in the effort required for this kind of event? Or are you going to remove hi sec L4?

So, it's about shooting down IT-Alliance players? :D

Ok am I the only who thinks we could have had co-op missions in hi sec a long time ago except someone in their infinite "wisdom" decided to put all the lvl 5 agents in low sec. I know when everyeone first heard about lvl 5's and the need for co-op we were excited. Then we found out they were all low sec and said a collective WTF?! If you want to really create more co-op move the lvl 5's to hi sec or at least put some in hi sec.
L5 could be soloed, with a group size reward. Way to be a group effort.

Everyone, this is CCP we're talking about. For those forgetting past expansions please take a look at Faction Failure, the drama lag that's been unleashed and the latest WH fiasco. I am fully confident CCP will totally mess this up, by creating a system in which this PVE 'battleground' will be dominated by massive cap blobs. They claim the more people are involved the less rewarding it will be but it'll get exploited heavily, before it's disabled/removed.
I, once upon a time, was an optimist and thought CCP would do things right. Now I know that this is CCP we're talking about
... and you are still here?

Surprised noone has mentioned the similarity between the cooperative aspects of this system and Warhammer's public quests.
WH idiotic devs managed to make people not join in those nice new idea public quests though. While levelling up the first days the game launched they worked like a charm but afterwards they were always empty so unless you played an hybrid good soloist class you'd be spanked senseless all the time. concerning static plexes. This was just one element of the most dumbest changes made to 0.0 ever, i.e. taking away the specific benefits of specific territorium aka systems. taking away static plexes and rendering the number of belts and sec status to meaninglessness by the ihub extensions makes it completely meaningless what 0.0 you claim. It does not matter anymore if you own some 4 belt system in Pureblind oder some 30 belt system with -1.0 sec status in tenal. Bad change, because it takes away the teritorrial greed from alliance conflicts !!! the issue you discussed you have been taken away soooo easy, but you decided to spoil the whole system. simply by adding key card items randomly spawned there would not be the server up farming effect you discribe. But no, you decided to make plexes spawn randomly making it irrelevant if you own a system or not.

First, and maybe I missed it, but am I correct in my guess that this will require some sort of probing/scanning? Or will they turn up as beacons on the overview? Basically, how are we going to find the locations?
Second, the original 10/10 complexes, as stated in the dev blog, respawned after downtime, and were pretty much farmed immediantly. That meant for those of us who work and are not able to play around that time, we never got to partake in em except perhaps on the weekends. Thus, it was great when they were reworked to their current state. So the question is, is this new feature going back to that original state? Something for only those who can log in the moment the server comes back up?
There will be no need to scan anything in this feature. When the Sanshas invade, they're not subtle about it.
The feature itself will be dynamic and take a while to run through, so I wouldn't worry about timezones. Plus the respawning is not dependent on downtime.
So this new feature is related to the Sansha event ? Ohhh crap.
I remember the sansha invade high-sec. I never had any notice, never knew where it was and CCP replied Sansha don't need to tell me when they attack but yet, it's an event for pilots ? wtf is that crap.
I hope this kind of hidden crap wont be in this feature. If an even like that happens I want to know about it so I can participate in it. IMO, the sansha event was a big joke from CCP on me...and I'm not laughing at all. I felt insulted

While I think a lot of these posts are just blowing smoke, I can totally agree on the epicness this could be.
Picture this. Pilots goin about their business in Jita as usual, freighters and haulers and all sorts of ships coming and going, when suddenly a wormhole appears 150km from the station and a Sansha mothership comes through (what is a mothership btw? could it be possibly like a traveling station? A deathstar type thing?) Imagine all the carebear freighters scrambling for cover. Docking manager Scotty under such load that people are being told to stand by as Sansha ships are launched and are now bearing down on the station. At the same time, other major trade hubs are hit in all four of the empires.
Now THAT would be one hell of a Sansha invasion and would definitly stir up the sometimes rather mundane activities of high sec.
Just don't do it while it's me undocking in my freighter.

I see two practical problems:
1) 0.0 alliances drop just their 50 supercaps onto the poor sanshas and blitz the whole event, thus having very high income for almost no risk. Hopefully that will be considered and counter-mechanism preventing this put in place.
2) Time. Just 1 1/2 months left. Certainly the design cannot be influenced any more by player input. I wish the devs would announce such big things earlier and DISCUSS it with players on the right forum sections IN ADVANCE while there is still ENOUGH TIME. There are so many valuable resources in the playerbase! It is a total shame that they go to waste most of the time. |

Will this expansion be just a "temporary" Invasion ? I mean all this is part of a bigger story about Sansha`s Nation that will end at some point. What then? Will the whole invasion PvE system disappear or will it be used in future projects/expansions ? PS - cant wait for the expansion

For me, the biggest bang for the buck will come from the thought:
What happens if the Sansha invade a hisec system with supercap support (Gosh we need an image soon, I can't get my head around a spiky mothership) and the pilots initally LOOSE?
Sanshas replace the normal rats, travel through the system (and perhaps adjacent systems) become unsafe as Sansha rats are everywhere. the sansha footprint becomes larger. Agents become hard to get to, mining becomes impossible, PVE gang fleets get larger to push back on the Sansha . . .CONCORD defers to pilots to face the Sansha (but staying around to enforce hisec rules)
Pools of fun. And no caps on the pilot's side.
And after the Sansha incursion is over (down the line) we see the other pirate factions doing the same thing, so constant running battles with NPC fleets.
Just post a nice image of that new Sansha supercarrier, please. I can't wait for that spikey beast to appear. [mind boggles with thought of training required to fly a Sansha supercarrier]

I would actually quite enjoy seeing supercaps and normal caps running these for more reasons than one. Just implement a trigger spawn when a capital ship enters the grid, like you did in wormhole space.
Also there is never no risk. Im going to enjoy watching videos of carebear fit titans and moms getting hotdropped by cap fleets

Can't we at least have something like NPC ships attacking Nation space in 0.0, or NPC ships attacking nation complexes and base spawns in empire, or even NPC ships fighting the Sansha ships in the same event? Players on both sides try to eliminate the other side's NPC's, or something like that? It's not a perfect solution, but something like that would be relatively easy to implement in the meantime I guess?
It's seems a bit unfair to not be able to enjoy the purpose of this (player teaming up vs NPC) if you happen to support the Nation team.

What Soundwave means there is that there's no "opt-in" mechanics for "sides" to choose, such as you get in Faction Warfare. It's still possible, despite this, for Sansha sympathisers (or local pirates, etc) to run interference. Right now though, the extent to which they can is limited in scope. If there's the time to, we'll try and broaden that.

I hope you have time, but don't take that time at the cost of making the feature itself less polished. Have you guys given thought as to how you're going to make the content still worthwhile/challenging when alliances can drop 20+ titans and 50+ supercarriers into the escalation?

Please make sure that whatever you do gives equal opportunity to all timezones. At the moment those that play towards the end of the Eve day (late US timezone) get screwed in terms of finding anoms/plexes whatever (except for last night when the server rebooted and nice anoms respawned).
