An optional patch will be deployed during downtime on Saturday, October 2 which will fix several issues reported to us following the release of Tyrannis 1.1. While the patch is optional, we would encourage everyone to apply the update to ensure your gameplay is improved over the weekend. The optional patch will be included in a future client update. A full list of updated patch notes can be found here.
Following downtime you will see a pop up box once the client is launched informing you that a patch is available and if you want to install. If you click 'Yes' then the patch will be applied and then you can log into Tranquility. If you choose 'No' you will log in to Tranquility directly but you will none of the fixes applied. If you clicked 'No' in error you can still apply the patch by going to the ESC menu, General Settings and apply the patch from the 'Install' button there.

Any downside to saying "no"? And I realize this is kinda 'front-page' news, but you really should post the same thing in the Tyr 1.1 issues and feedback threads.

There is no downside to saying "no" except that none of the fixes listed in the patch notes will be applied to your client. The fixes will be introduced at a later date so it will be installed at some point. As stated in the news article and in this thread, we highly recommend that you apply this patch.

Just in case you love **** poor code on a game you pay money for to test for ccp or, if you're not getting any issues, no need to install it.
Both options aren't mutually exclusive.

Yes problems arose with yesterday's patch, they came up with a fix the next day. You can't always foresee bugs that will arise, but its not like CCP sat on their laurels when things went south.
Anyway whining = annoying (yes, I'm prepared emotionally to be quoted and whined at)

Patch note says the corp-mate icon wasn't showing for corps in allaince. Well, we are not in alliance, but the corp-mate doesn't show for us either.
Hopefully they are fixing the corp-mate icon for all corps, not just ones in an alliance.

I see there's nothing in the patch notes about the problem I'm having: My client hangs when logging in on 'Acquiring Bulk Data 5/46'. My bulkdata folder is empty.

it says scanner no longer plays error sound, does this mean you fixex THAT ONE INSTANCE of sound glitches? or do you mean you found the bug that screwed HALF OF THE SOUNDS in eve? including "lack of sound when clicking items in quickbar" "opening manufacture menu" "no drag and drop sound" and so on???

Dont mean any emotional harm by this ;) but when people pay for a service, they expect it to work.
The problem is, its not the first time this has happened and I'm pretty sure a lot of people would agree that the UI has always been buggy (One of the most buggiest UI's of a game i have ever used)
In my humble opinion, it gives the impression of "we don't care" and makes CCP look unprofessional, which can't be good for any business. Saying that it's good that CCP brought a fix out the next day isn't the point, with the amount of bugs that showed up after the patch indicated to me, at least, that there may be possible concerns with bug testing.
Just my two penny worth.
Peace my friend :)

Sure you can. You can actually test the stuff you send out. You can look at the bug reports people send in.
By and large, they failed on both accounts with this one. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

CCP, Why is this optional?
whynot just rollback the 1.1 patch and bake it a week or 2 more until it really works?
patching a patch that introduces about 50 regressions is just plain bad
I am an IT professional, with more then 15 years doing this sort of thing, and what is happening here is just plain wrong.
Rollback 1.1,
Prime Beta testing eve since 2002Ö

I believe "optional" is code for "it may break more things but we are not sure."
"Rollback" is admitting.."we messed up bigtime." So it will never happen.

But surely these bugs could have been found before release. I mean, all they'd have to do is login and play around for 15 minutes..I just wish they did some proper testing before releasing a patch. Several hours late for a patch that breaks things instead of fixing them, great job, no really, good going.

I see there's nothing about making the "Ships" and "Items" windows stop popping back to the top left corner. Impressive that CCP got a patch out the next day (even though most of these issues were already known about before 1.1 was released and should have already been fixed) but I still hope this can get fixed soon.

Seriously people, if you have issues with paying for a game that when an update comes out, then stop paying to play and move back to WOW or something like that. Running tests on a test server somtimes do not produce bugs that will appear on a live server, due to several factors. I could understand if CCP did nothign to fix it, but look they are already workign on it. If you think you can code a better game without any bugs then please feel free to go ahead and do it. Untill then tank CCP for the fun game your playing, and be patient. Just my 2 cents, and I don;t really care if you feel like bashing me for this post either.

Speculation: It most likely contains client-side changes only. If all the issues can be fixed without making server-side code changes, the patch would be optional.

I've never understood why this is so taboo. Why are companies so reluctant to admit fault on such trivial matters? More significantly, why are customers willing to settle for nothing less than perfection from them? Maybe I'm some crazy outlier, but I find it more comforting to hear "We made a mistake and are now doing our best to fix it," rather than "Nothing to see here. All is well. Carry on, citizen." Is being lied to really that much of a comfort to most people?
I guess what I'm really saying is, "F*** spin." "Rest well this night, for tomorrow you sail for the kingdom... of Daggerfall." -Uriel Septim VII |

Seriously people, stop telling people to go back to WOW. If all you can do is preach to the player base that are not happy with a patch then you should seriously consider shutting the f**k up.
[I dont think CCP appreciate you telling their paying customers to go elsewhere.]

Seriously I have not been able to logon for 2 days because I have to download bulk data that resets the client when it gets to 5/46 how about they fix that little problem for me so that i can then maybe logon and see what else is gone belly up.
I have been playing and paying for this game for over 4 years and i love it but when i can not even login to change my bloody skills then maybe the problem is not with my patience. |
