An optional patch will be deployed during downtime on Saturday, October 2 which will fix several issues reported to us following the release of Tyrannis 1.1. While the patch is optional, we would encourage everyone to apply the update to ensure your gameplay is improved. The optional patch will be included in a future client update. A full list of updated patch notes can be found here.
The reason for deploying an optional patch is that these updates contain UI core fixes which are client-only changes in python. This process is much quicker to prepare, test and execute and allows us to prepare a patch much faster than usual. The EVE Online client remains usable whether an optional patch is applied or not.
Following downtime you will see a pop up box once the client is launched informing you that a patch is available and if you want to install. If you click 'Yes' then the patch will be applied and then you can log into Tranquility. If you choose 'No' you will log in to Tranquility directly but you will none of the fixes applied. If you clicked 'No' in error you can still apply the patch by going to the ESC menu, General Settings and apply the patch from the 'Install' button there.

On the patch notes page, can you please list which notes belong with which of the different optional patches or builds? Its hard to understand which fixes where in which optional patch. Especially if you declined to install the first one.

There are no 5 Oct patch notes on that page, only the notes for the original "screw everything up" patch and the subsequent, mostly ineffective 2 Oct patch. |

The patch notes only show changes for the original Tyrannis 1.1 and the optional patch from Oct 2nd, not for the one you announced (Oct 5th). I just really hope all the PI that broke with 1.1 is getting fixed so import/export works again! Here's to hoping that those problems are a client issue and can be fixed with an optional patch...

Huh? The patch notes are for last Saturday's optional patch. What's more, at the top there is a version listed (184013) that is already behind what has been deployed (185699). Is it necessary to apply the first optional patch before the new one on the 5th? Is it necessary to remove the one from last Saturday before applying the new one?
Constructive suggestion: You really need to be out in front of this to dispel all the confusion it's bound to generate, and so far it seems to be business as usual. Start with updated patch notes for each of the optional patches and make sure they're complete. Referencing non-existant patch notes = strike one.
As much as this last week has been a fiasco, I ultimately look forward to the UI improvements that will eventually get implemented. So far, though, whatever code changes you're making in this area seem amateurish and half baked. |

Is it worth now tracking 4 live version of the client(unpatched, 2x 1 optional, both optional)?
Why not make everyone upgrade to the same version so that issues can be traced easier?

Sorry about this but as some of you have already picked up on that there are no patch notes for the Tuesday optional patch. Yet. It took a little bit longer than expected to get this patch together so patch notes have been delayed. CCP Navigator will be publishing them tomorrow.

Oh I don't think that will be an issue cause they don't seem to be doing that, if at all.

TBH, I don't get too excited about this stuff normally .. but ..
PI is completely broken. As in mission critical does not work properly. Its costing me and others millions, tens of millions every day you let this go on.
The only reason it annoys me is because PI is, as you know, a click intensive and cascade process. That means when you screw up my ability to use the planetary modules and functions such as exporting goods and importing goods, you cause all the other planets to back up and fall over. I rely on them for t2 production, as many others do.
I don't cry about 'lost earnings' because I don't believe pretend money matters, but I will cry many tears indeed about carefully layed out production plans that utilize the whole creative process from original blue print aquisition, copying (in POS labs which require grind to fuel and defend etc), through invention (including all the datacore grind), to p0 > p1 conversion (in low and null sec requiring hours of hauling in cloaky transports), to p2, to t2 manufacturing, to market to make .. plex .. to do it all over again.
Right now you have screwed up the PI at the critical p2 phase and effectively halted all t2 production from me personally - and probably severely hurt many others not as rich as me and probably greatly inconvenienced the rest who are far richer than myself.
Please take this kind of thing in to consideration when you issue hot fixes and optional patches. People like me don't rage quit, but we do just lose interest when our time is wasted and we aren't actually entertained by the process.
I said that little emoe whingey ranty wall of tears because .. it was the damn optional patch that broke the PI. The 1.1 deployment was fine for me! D'oh.
Short of reinstalling the client and not applying the patches, its not looking good for me being paid up next month. *sniff

First off, really hope this helps, because these are not the standards we're used to from CCP. No wonder where the CSM proposal for the "Commit to excellence" came from...
Second, unheard solutions for unheard issues. And "Optional"?, "Client remains usable"?, are your standards that low now.???
It's good to see that you're acting kind of fast but, what good does it make if things go down with every patch? I really hope for the best but, recent facts don't seem to be backing these expectations for this humble player in particular.
Very Dissapointed

Any chance of a devblog covering:
1. Your QA process in general, 2. The Tyrannis 1.1 patch, 3. The two (so far) optional patches: why they are optional, etc. 4. The optional patch mechanism: why do you have it, benefits, extra workload?

I'm going to point out something from the player to player side, to change from directing vitriol to CCP. PC l0adletter here expressed frustration, but it's not something that could be addressed in any way. Hence, not part of the process for doing anything constructive.
One post above, I see a longer post, but very useful in detailing what the effects of the problem patch have been for him. Well thought-out, well expressed. I can't say that I'd match that level of discourse with each post, but it's a better example than just lashing out as my quoted post has done.

Thanks for the patch \o/
I feel your pain, I'm going through my own horrible update problems at work....some random windows update in the last couple weeks screwed up a bunch of code that has been working for years...and I accidentally released some crap I was in the middle of working on...didn't find out that I missed a spot when commenting stuff out to keep the code from working half way through the day today :(

Is this another of CCP's craptastic patches that fixes PVP and little else. Glad you actually test (not apparent) before releasing suspect code. Minor patch followed by two fix patches with release notes that won't be released until the patch is released. Too little too late I guess. Even Microsoft admits to their failures how CCP take a stand admit they screwed the player community by not rolling back and expect everyone to accept developers failures and still pay you for them. Too many bugs, too many attempted mass testing to fix PVP issues while breaking other areas that worked although not well worked...
To all those who will ask for my stuff, if I quit and cancel my 5 accounts I will pay the fee and transfer my accounts to friends as well as my billions of assets. Not sure EVE is worth playing with the focus that is being given by CCP. Where is CSM? Where are the requests put forward by CSM? CSM means nothing to CCP. They will deploy what they want to when they want to... Epic Fail if you are not in PVP.
List of Broken Things: * Double entries in space overview. * Stations and Space objects present in overview from systems long since left. * PI, Import/Export Broken. * Longer space load time leaving stations while putting pilot at risk as they are viewable by other players while graphic loading. (CCP cover up.) * LP Store, unable to buy items 10s of thousands of LP less then you have even though you meet the requirements with both isk and LP.
... Feel free to add what I haven't already encountered, help CCP determine the rest of their bugs they are unable to fix or realease notes for. ...

I'm only going to address this part of your post, since the rest is just BAAAAW YOU BROKE MY GAEM. There are actually a few CSM requests included in this next expansion, 14 actually. In this specific scenario, what do you want the CSM to do? Say "Yo, CCP, your patches suck. Make them suck less." Because CCP clearly releases crap patches on purpose just to spite you.

Really do you read? There have been to articles in popular gaming magazines that quote the head of development as well as the CEO saying that the CSM is important to them but have put the CSM's request on hold for the next year to deliver what CCP thinks will be future off shoots for expansion. I guess you strickly stick to forums and can't be bothered to read out side forums. Can you quote the items the CSM have put forward that will be in the winter expansion or do you plan to stay vague in your view?

Word on the street is that the majority of issues that showed up in this actual patch were also noticed and pointed out on the test server during the testing phase of the patch. If so, why was the patch released in its current hilariously terrible state, and why did the first optional patch not resolve even half the issues pointed out before? Should we expect more of the same from this upcoming optional patch?

Yo dawg, how does links work? How come "14" in her post is different color? Hurrr....
And I think it is indeed constructive at this juncture to rage or even f'ing rage-quit. CCP obviously doesn't give a s*** about their customers as long as new customers keep coming in. They basically said as much to CSM.
TBH I'm starting to wonder why I bother playing this crap, and a lot of my friends are saying the same.

WOW! Those are some added benefits by CSM to EVEscape. Only thing really worth while is Rockets balance and that is on the maybe list. You mean to tell me I might be able to rename a ship from across the universe that is in my hanger. Woot! How about more tracking on the market more than the 24 hour roll up? You pointing to CSM success is a joke. That in itself should be posted as Epic Fail. I went to Iceland drank your beer and got players the ability to rename ships. I see a lot of shoulds and maybes but no definites. WTF are you reading?
