Did you know you can use PLEX for portrait swaps and char transfers ?

Akita T Caldari Caldari Navy Volunteer Task Force	Posted - 2010.11.06 23:16:00 - [1] Not only portrait swap (1x PLEX) and character transfers (2x PLEX) but also via petition, start a "Power of 2" account (3x PLEX) ! It was news to me too (except that last part, which I found out about via one of the usually-glossed-over newsletter thingies). At least I failed to notice an official announcement or any news item to that extent (for the first two things I just mentioned in the title). Did any of you see it (devblog, newsitem, anything like that) ? Any idea when it happened ? It's not like I check those options often, and if it wasn't for somebody else recently asking a question about it, I still wouldn't know about it. Also, any idea why the general concept of "we're only allowing CC payments for character transfers to have a paper trail" was silently dropped ? Oh, and hey, while you're at it, can we also expect to be able to buy EVE-Store stuff with PLEX too in the near or not so near future ? _ Beginner's ISK making guide \| Manufacturer's helper \| All about reacting _

I fully expect PLEX prices to go through the roof until November 14 (for the ^2 offer snipers) or even a while after, if that's when PLEX-for-remap gets implemented... Incursion is slated for November 16, right? Heh. OUCH. But I digress. So, am I the first to notice all of these, or several others have and just kept their mouths shut ? Until now, that is. I read all of those "objections" to plex for remap and frankly, I don't get it. It looks like the objection is basically that rich gamers would get a leg up over poor gamers if it was implemented, but I don't see it being any more of a leg up than they have already. If you've got a credit card and you just lost your faction BS, screw it, buy another one. Everyone is fine with that, but not fine with plex for remap? I see plex for remap (and plex for anything else, for that matter) as CCP trying to convert some of the trillions of isk that are sitting in vets wallets right now into cash that they can use. I think the hidden agenda concern isn't that Johnny Ferrari is going to get a leg up in the game, it's that it's going to devalue isk as a real-world currency so it'll get harder for Johhny Alliance Leader to pay for his 37 accounts and all of his buddies accounts with isk.

I would imagine that CCP hopes to drive up the ISK value of GTC so that people who already buy them (with cash) buy more and so that people who grind ISK for them consider paying cash instead.
