i usually name them after some characteristic of the ship, be it physical looks or the way it flys. My machariel is named "camel toe" for instance, and my vindi is the "Chin wobbler".
My favourite ship - the proteus - is named "Noisy Cricket". :) |

Golem is called Draugr, the other one, Navy Scorpion, is Revenant. Why I called this ship Revenant? Because I lost so many of these, that asteroid fields around Funtanainen are composed of broken hulls and blown up particles from my past ships. So when they made new, they just harvest them and put into another one, so its revived again and again. Revenant. |

As of lately, I've begun naming my ships after locations and characters out of Space Quest. "Vohauls Revenge", "Phleebut", "Aluminium Mallard", "The Wilco", etc.
Next month it's going to be LucasArts adventures. |
