first off i crapped myslef when i seen vid awsome questions though:
1. if this is and "invasion" i would expect full force like dreads and what not invading into hi sec not just o well there going to stay in low sec type deal
2. new charecter creation = walking on station ntm seeing the guy narrating from the station hangar "awsome btw"

I loved the instation part of him..even though was mainly cgi...or was it :O, anyway this makes me think how epic the incarna trailer will be  MOAR CCP, I NEED MOAR!

what a "crappy" invasion was that.. only 6 nightmare and a dozen of small ones with "crapy" (literaly..) MS well video is nice cgi etc efects so so and u guys focused on "body" and "facial expression" all is goood but its FCKN Shortt!!!! i thought it was a teaser.. or something :( why thank you ccp for not suprising me.. :(

Did I miss something? Did they announce station walking with this expansion? The last time I checked we could only redo our avatar and that station walking will be in Incarna in summer 2011. |

fixed the typo. But now to more important things.
Yeah do that. You at CCP clearly got some guys who are able to make absolutely epic render trailers. There are also some people in the community whit similar abilities. Give them a job, found a new division for movies/short movies and punch out more of this awesome stuff. Who epic would it be to see at least some of the chronicles being told with a series of say 2-5 short render movies 10-15 minutes a piece.
I tell you now if you ever start something like that I'd be <insert some disgusting activity here> in my pants on a regular basis. |

Na, you didn't miss anything.. WiS won't be here for another 6 months at least.. DD just got a bit exited and exaggerated.
Although it's nice to see an avatar looking to the outside.

In my opinion this is actually something quite a bit too realistic, and thats why it is good. Mostly everywhere nowadays in similar context the leader of the enemy is someone or something, big, ugly and disgustingly powerful. But in reality most of such bad guys are just "little people" like everyone else, except the great charisma or unimaginable wealth to achieve their goals. They in themselves dont pose much threat, but with their either bought or loyal armies marching to do their dirty job... Quite fitting for such a greyish-dark world.
That is +1 from me. I like it. |

Well, since they've been doing this for years (producing great looking videos that are nothing at all like the game) I don't imagine anyone will be caught unawares.
It's like their marketing department thinks there are PC MMO players who like science fiction themes and haven't heard of or tried EVE, and can be tricked with shiny things. I suspect the reality is that they're marketing to a familiar audience who doesn't really fall for it anymore.

So you're saying that you like scripted NPC missions over emergent PvP gameplay. To each his/her own. I hope CCP is happy over the WOW crowd it's game is starting to attract.

The trailer is creepy and disturbing (in no small part due to the Kuvakei voiceover), like it's supposed to be. It induces a little despair at seeing all those Nation ships wreaking havoc, and like any self-righteous person it causes me to get all indignant and ****ed off at Kuvakei.
So in short, another outstanding trailer from CCP. Keep up the great work, and +1 for awesomeness to whoever voiced Kuvakei.

Absolutely loved it, and actually seeing a character in a trailer actually made it so much better, it's no longer just spaceships its the full package and the sense of scale as well, its got me excited about Incursion and the eventual WiS even if that isn't for a long time as yet.

So is CCP going to make warp ins appear as they do in the trailer (and in past trailers--ie rapidly decelerating), because that looks much cooler than the slow 30-second-slow-down-out-of-warp we have now.

Went into that trailer not knowing what to expect, but had in mind one thing I really wanted to see. What was it? The avatar technology in action, and I did :) Was very cool
Other best thing about this vid? Wasn't expecting it but when he was standing in that hanger, those Nightmare BS's looked MASSIVE and thats the way it should be :)

Log onto SiSi, you can see the giant turd in game. It really just looks like a giant brown-green turd (both in shape and color) that was just **** out of CCPs ass... oh wait, but it's shiny... so more like a giant brown-green turd that was rolled in glitter.
For some reason the Sansha decided to ditch the black/gray/orange color scheme and smear their ***** all over their ships.

Miner: "local spike, warp to station"
Other Miners: "oki doki!"
Sansha: "damn, maybe we can get something in the next system...."

sure you can, I just find it funny that anyone that has played eve for a week will realize the trailers CCP make don't reflect the reality of game-play in any way, shape, or form.
Most other game developers will put some actual game-play into advertisements for games they are marketing. CCP doesn't do that.
I know I won't ever get a response because CCP does not respond to any feedback from their player base, but i'd like to get a response from CCP as to why they feel the need to advertise so deceptively.

Agreed. The trailer looks amazing, and Kuvakei only reaffirms my decision to fly with Nation loyalists during the previous live events. However, every statement made to date indicates there will be no actual means of supporting the Sanshas outside of lowsec/nullsec piracy, where supporters will be just as likely to be killed as opponents. Kind of screws up any real chance for RP and definitely takes a massive dump on the whole concept of the "sandbox" by restricting players to only one side of the battle. If they fix that, Incursion will be epic.

Like the trailer, though I echo some of the observations that it felt more like a teaser. This may be because it was almost all ominous foreshadowing with some tantalizing clips of one-sided ambush.
Plus points for Kuvekai's inclusion as a demonstration of the new avatar graphics and fashion design. Having him stand on the edge of the hangar showed how the new ambulation visuals can mesh with the gritty space setting. His (albeit limited) motions were very fluid and believable, and I'm hoping actual Incarna animations are similarly natural.

I give this trailer a thumbs up.
Let's face it, it was that kind of trailer that Blizzard would do, but a bit shorter. And Blizzard I think will always be known for their trailers. So much that someday they will be mocked like those old power aid commercials.
With trailers that this, CCP should do well. For my critique, I think it should have been longer and showed more freaking out on the side of the miners and their battle fleet - more interaction and fighting - everybody loves the fighting.

As far as I can tell from the story so far, no, that's not exactly the idea. Seems much more like a push against the empires, and to hell with the capsuleers that get in the way. Otherwise why the call from Kuvakei for capsuleers to join him at the beginning of the live events?

No, no, no... when I said that trailer is coming directly from the game universe, I didn't mean it's describing in-game rendering engine or game mechanics. I was thinking about depicting events that come from the game universe itself - extending what's happening in fictional New Eden on the real world and providing pieces of this amazing world to whoever watch the trailer. The feeling that you can be a part of some amazing, vast and wild universe with rich back story is far more powerful as a marketing trick than "you can play this game for $15 a month a s*** over whoever you don't like without consequences".

Incase people never noticed that, game trailers aren't supposed to show any real ingame action because that would probably be boring as hell, like most PvP/PvE videos are for any online games.
Or when it's about some incoming menace, certainly not show the players fighting against it, since that's the whole point of the new feature, fighting the menace, not watching others do it.

Good point. I was kinda thinking along the lines of his involvment in the second book. I guess thats where i got the notion from. Would certainly be easier for ccp's programers to make it a one sided capsulers unite kind of deal though. |

No bounty for any of those ships. See incursion Dev Blog about revenue mechanics for Incursions.. It's more along the lines of, bring X ships in fleet and defeat the Sansha (where X is some pre set number by CCP which gives around 6k LP with Concord + 25M isk per attendee, if you bring less ships you get less per attendee, if you bring more you get less per attendee).
On top of all some Sansha drop BPC afaik for ships/mods/etc.

my first impression of the trailer was a very positive one, as with the Dominion trailer I greatly enjoyed the realism of the voicecomms :)
upon reconsideration I am a little disappointed by revenge being Sansha's only motive - "you burnt my playground, so I'll burn down yours" is a bit weak imo.
For me the three defining aspects of his character could be summed up as (in no particular order):
- destructive - the desire for revenge
- constructive - the wish to build a better world (from the ashes of the old one if necessary)
- philosophical - his ideas rgd individuality and the role of free will
especially the last point if played right (i.e. applied mainly to capsuleers) might have given him plenty of allies in the EVE universe and would have tied in well with the general anti-capsuleer sentiment of the 2nd EVE novel.
Reducing his whole character to a generic "I want my revenge and you're going to suffer" bad guy is pretty disappoiting, the nice thing about Sansha was that you could support his views without looking like a complete maniac (he's the visionary, Blood raiders are the maniacs).

Did I miss something? Did they announce station walking with this expansion? The last time I checked we could only redo our avatar and that station walking will be in Incarna in summer 2011.
i guess you did. even in the trailer the guy is walking around at the station. ccp has also stated they delayed the expansion to finish it and not release unfinished content on us. what? you actually thought it would be us spending hours on log in recreating our avatar and that would be the end of it? i for one will be at the station bar ordering a drink, having a couple honeys in each arm headed to the gambling table. that is of course till an incursion happens and i walk to the station docks and get my ship preped to go kill some sansha for a mothership bpc.

I had a similar idea as well, only it involved the Talocan or whatever they were called (Other race whose wrecks you can find in sleeper space) and them slowly spreading through space and getting stronger if they weren't fought.
If they actually make it legitly awesome and needing dozens of people to kill off the fleets in any reasonable amount of time I will be a happy panda :D

While PVE doesn't interest me in the slightest, I enjoyed this trailer because it was dramatic, emotionally compelling, and cool looking. It drew me in, and I watched it several times. From that perspective, I'd say it is doing its job. And...those spiky Sansha shadows sliding over the ice near the start was an awesome touch though perhaps they could have moved a tad more slowly for more ominous impact.
Also, too short! Hope its not the only one we get like this.
Also, Pirate Faction warfare (with mechanics that ain't broke) would be quite interesting if players could choose to operate on behalf of their "allied" faction in some manner more tangible than just roleplay and that was PvP focused.

I think this is the first eve trailer that really dissapointed.
Get more voice actors for the fleet pilots, and make sure they have talent.
Saying that, the rest of the audio was superb, it just needs better cinematography and possibly a bit more length.

Frankly i only saw one thing that interests me in this expansion there Fixing of PI its a total disaster as it stands currently beyond that nothing in this expansions interests me at all,
That should throw huge warning sirens that a 4 year player is not interested in anything other than you fixing what you screwed up in the last expansion

Anyone else check out the hi-res version and notice that one of sansha's eyes is actually an implant. When he's looking at the screen you can see the pupil on the left has some weird thing going on. It's subtle but it's definitely there. DO WANT!!.
Also feb2003 here and I can't wait for Incarna. I've never felt like this game was just about space pew pew and it's always felt incomplete. Once they've finished adding incarna the game will feel much more complete for me.

JAN/2004 i'm ok with incursion but "trailer" is too short :p
without PVE eve isnt what it is..
but i'm sure they will abandon this expansion just like old ones.. FW.. WH.. ccp seriosly need some polisher squad that "completes" "half-finished" things..
there are no update on wh or fw in incursion right.. or PI (general overhaull current system pls:p) or did i missed those ?

During the "18 months" emo rage on the forums it was stated officially that there will be no polishers of half finished content cut loose from the dev pool until after incarna and pi are out the door and finished. So basically we still have about a year and a half before anything will even start to happen in those areas.

I think it's a cool trailer. The addition of the human was fantastic because it makes the game seems less robotic and reminds you that players and people are at the center of it. It also pulled me into the lore more. I was never interested in the Eve lore because you never seen anyone, just ships so it didn't connect. This was good. Also, watching him walk down the hangar you get a sense of the scale of the ships that's really exciting. I say good trailer. Would be cool if you see his mothership from time to time and get a chance to engage him.

Nothing against CCP, they made everytime superb trailer, but this one, the new one ... i dont like it a lot :((( After trailers about tyrranis, dominion or sand-box trailer i w8ed more and more ... This one is actually not bad, but for me its step behind not forward :P
+ for story and character adding in video
- for fight sequenses - i saw better in old trailers. Especially the ones using matrix slow-motion (bullet-time)

I love the new trailer (teaser?)!! To me it wouldn't have looked out of place if it had flashed up during the adverts before a movie at the cinema. I'm sure that if CCP *had* done that you'd see the subscriber base triple
Getting to see the new Avatar technology in it was awesome. Who voices Sansha? Is it an actor or an in-house guy?

Hello, is there another way to watch the trailer than youtube ?
I'm in China and youtube is blocked, plus I have a very bad connection (can't use vpn), so I can't watch.
Oh, and, in game, is there a way to watch the fist introduction video bout EVE? When I tried the game in 2006, I've seen it, but now, I just upgraded my account, I can't see it again, even if I check 'watch introduction video" (or something like that), it's not the same.

Have you ever seen a ship warp to you while you're static? It looks nothing like that. It's very slow deceleration compared to what was in the trailer.
