Good point, I simply never got around to this thread.
I doubt that there will be a patch available in time for the masstest tomorrow, since we're currently fighting our Mac servers, trying to make them do what we want them to.
As I mentioned in another thread yesterday, we've been moving development branches over the holidays, and are in the process of setting up our automation to work with these new branches. However, it's not quite as straight forward as adding a new branch and starting a build; we're also implementing a new security policy on the system, upgrading the system to it's next major revision, and fighting the Mac servers to try and get them to successfully store the correct credentials to connect to a Windows based network.
We're trying all we can, and I can assure you it's as much a frustration to us to change, as much as it is for you to not have a patch.

Right, but now I don't *care* particularly about not having a patch, since I know it's on the radar and wasn't that 'We weren't aware of this issue' as I got with the last bug report ;)
A little more info would be much appreciated by us mac people, we're too familiar with being blanked off as 'those posh minority of idiots that don't use windows' and have a tendency to take silence as a lack of caring.

Heh, I can go into a lot more detail, since it's driving us up the wall. We're currently fighting the Xserve blades we've got; they only have a command line interface, and so things such as creating new users, modifying passwords and connecting to Windows network shares become non trivial. We've also an incredibly frustrating issue with them, whereby you _have_ to have an active user session on them AT ALL TIMES to be able to execute hdiutil, which makes automating build requests for any hour of the day complicated.
We're intimately aware of how frustrating it is to release Windows patches and clients for builds, and to have the Mac ones left waiting, but there's very little we can do when everything we have to do on the Mac servers requires us to fight them tooth and nail. I'm sure some of you will feel creeped out when I say that every administration task is actually easier to do on the Windows portion of our cluster.

CCP: Get Windows, stop paying for Apple ****. Mac users: Get Windows, stop paying for Apple ****.
Edit: On a second thought, just abandon Apple users, they can use Wine like Linux users. Shouldn't be too hard.

I'm about to head in on a Saturday morning to try and fix the general patching issues our branch move has caused and I think CCP Sputnik was going to do the same and work on the Mac machines.

ROFL, Macintosh machines have an official UNIX cert. The reaction of microsoft was to come up with their own cert and the hype about how they matched it perfectly. Like holding your own special Olympics where only you get to participate in, and then loudly declaring how you hold Olympic gold.

Well thats it then, we should probably just abandon our Windows machines as they don't have an official UNIX Cert, even though Windows does have a working Sisi client and the largest software library known to man, without an official UNIX Cert the public will never take it seriously and it'll surely fail.

Mac users make up a considerable portion of our player base, and it's nothing but flippancy to suggest we just do away with our offering of a Mac client.
The issues that we run into during the course of creating a new client for any platform generates feelings of frustration for both the developers and end users, regardless of what platform it's on.
TLDR; we're trying our best to resolve these issues, and we will fix them. We also thank you for bearing with us, through this interlude, and thank you for your continued support.

nah, not necessary nor even possible. Just pointing out that Windows only looks good when the race is rigged to its favor, and no one else has a chance of participating.
