I have one simple request. Do not make everyone with female characters make characters as the above. That is an old, ugly man in drag, that is not a female. Again, left portrait is female. Right portrait is hideous. I honestly haven't seen any more images that are much better in the department of hideous man-in-drag looking female (no insults to transvestites intended, as I mean the man himself is already ugly, and now it's rather emphasized in drag).
Anywho, make the women look like women plz, ccp. Thank you.

Honestly people having been making some pretty fugly looking females with the creator. Makes me feel better because I'll feel like I'll have the only decent looking avatar in the game.

It's because the person who did the new portrait chose many male/non-feminine features for the avatar or he just didn't know what makes a woman look like a woman.

I would agree, if this was the only absolutely frightening looking female character I've seen...
Or if I had seen any attractive female characters at all...

I was under the impression the whole point of that character was to create someone who's, well, ugly. The strong jaw, sunken-in cheeks, the indifferent expression... yeah, not exactly what people would consider attractive in any case. And that's the point. Right?
It's not like it's very hard to create an attractive-looking female. But it's also boring, depending on who you ask...

Spent ages looking for the video again, but alas cannot find it. There was a video of someone using the character creator to make a (very hot) female avatar. Looked kinda suicide girl ish with orange/black hair and makeup.

Perhaps a tutorial should be included with the character creator? I'm sure fairness demands letting people create ugly women, but since it's a lot easier to screw the portrait than to make it likable (the old editor: look at my girl, i tried REALLY hard to make her less shiny and failed miserably) something like a detailed guide would be great to have.
Or maybe a direct link to the already great guides found out there. Linkage

Em...this just struck me. Having so much power to sculpt a face, has anyone tried copying his own face on the creator? would LOVE to see some results.
I have a feeling this could become a whole new hobby in EVE, drawing people's faces for their avatars...for the right amount of isk ;)

I guess the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I wonder how many think the following are not attractive vs. good looking?
Here's a couple that I thought were pleasing looking at least for me. The latter especially is the type for me, the first was a recreation of another users avatar:
(Just made the Deteis with the newest creator which doesn't allow to use the portrait mode, blank screen)

From a psychological standpoint i find it interesting it made you angry. Why is that?
My reasoning is that someone who is attracted to male features, but is in denial about it, will add those features to a female he is trying to make attractive.

Because everyone likes staring in the bland eyes of an old, scarred, drugged-out pirate thug when they look at their character screen.
That's like looking down on people in WoW for choosing an elf girl because they hate staring at the ass of an orc for most of their gaming experience.

You do realize this is a discussion based on the incursion avatar system, right? Which will be used in the Incarna expansion, right??
So then those of us who walk around the stations will be looking at our avatar a LOT whether we want to or not. Hence some of us might just make a female avatar for that reason alone, as opposed to making a male avatar where we couldn't care less on sculpting the avatar. It's just a preference, and if you don't want to be part of WIS, fine, but don't go around and say that those who make avatars that they would like to look at have issues, it just shows how stupid you are...

It's same thing as man dressing up as a woman simply cause he thinks he looks prettier that way
you can do it in privacy of your own home, but when you go outside like that, it's rather nasty. If you are a man, you better look like a man.

Not that this will generate any decent replies( /trollsign) but I guess you think the only reason someone would ever want an avatar of a gender different than their own is because of some misplaced desires.
Let me give you an example as to why some people make such a choice: the female fighter pilot in the X-men 2 aircraft chase scene. Totally. Badass.

LOLZ...Its hysterical that people seem to think that a woman that looks "hard" or "jaded" with any kind of masculine facial attributes is the result of repressed sexual issues. Everyone knows that all women look just like super models straight off the cover of sports illustrated's swimsuit issue right?

Indeed. However, just as not all women look like super models (a rare occasion), not many women look just like a man in drag (also a rare occasion). I would like to see a character creator that makes it simple to make all 3 options (ugly, average, and gorgeous). Unfortunately, 99% of what I see is ugly to me, and that's my biggest problem.

I think most people meet less women per day than they see in pictures on TV or the internet, unless you manage to meet around 50 women a day... by the end of the year, you'd run out of women to meet. You think this is abnormal? Try counting all the different women you see on T.V. in a given half hour to full hour. Nice try on the insult, though... kind of pathetic that you have to resort to personal attacks.
Anywho, I'm sorry for your ugly women. American women look much better than that, along with women of every other nationality. Over here, if I saw a woman like that, guess what I would think. It's a man. I'm pretty sure any American would agree with this, also.

It's not an insult, it's a point. If you see 50 women on TV or the internet a day, and then like 10 or 20 outside of the internet and TV, only 3-4 of those women outside will look like those on TV.
Thus, you'r idea of what makes a women look like a women is skewed. It's not an insult.
I don't watch TV, I do not own one. I watch movies, but the number of pretty women I see, is much lower than average looking women.
If you see the top 5% example of women 90% of the time. As TV has made it very easy to do so, your perspective is skewed.
Not an insult.
also anyone that works retail meets far more than 50 women I day... I would hope.

you might notice a few things. A jaw, deep cheek bones, a forehead.

It would only be remotely "cool" if it were something more than eye candy. Again, I have susbscribed to a spaceship game, not Sci-Fi themed Second Life. (Or as many feature requests indicate.... BOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBIIIIIEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS in SSSSPPPPPAAAAAACCCCEEEEE.)

My idea is skewed? Hardly! Average looking women do not look as ugly as that thing I posted originally. That is an ugly man in drag, not a woman, like I've said many times before, and as you can see, others agree with me. Also, "meeting" women does not denote a quick talk with them that goes so far as "here's your [product], ma'am". I don't work in retail either, personally, since I teach for a living currently.
Skewed... Hardly... I've seen prettier women on the uglier spectrum around the college campus that I work at.
Also, when you tell someone to get out of their mom's basement, that, sir, is an insult.

You know that you're posting an image from GI jane right? This was a movie about a woman joining the American special forces, and essentially trying to emulate men, you know this, right???
As far as Alien goes, I personally never saw Sigourney Weaver as anything less than a curveless horseface, but that's just my personal opinion.
Also, this is thread is about allowing us to make women that don't look like that monstrosity I originally posted. I would like the chance to make a character I find attractive. If you find man-face attractive, then by all means, make it for yourself, but I'd rather have the option of making a female character.

so you're calling 90% of women in real life a monstrosity? nice
Also you proved my point, In GI jane what does it take to love like a man? a shave? They didn't alter her face, so you proved my point. when you think of woem all you see is hair, make up, and boobs. you must feel special.

Interesting fake statistic. You're a complete moron. 90% of women do not look like ugly men in drag. They just simply don't. Nor do they look like Demi Moore in GI Jane (bloody, dirty, dressed in men's clothes, etc.) I've known a few women with shaved heads in my life, and no, I don't think they're a monstrosity, but I certainly wouldn't approach someone dressed like Demi Moore is in that movie, considering she would probably pop up on mine and most folk's gaydar.
Again, you've missed the ENTIRE POINT of this thread you idiot. Overly-masculine features on a woman makes an ugly woman, and I would like to not see that in the character creator.
Now I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing you're drunk. Your spelling is awful, your grammar is awful, and your point of view is childish. Either that, or you're just so completely idiotic that you can't read at all. Instead of actually thinking you just apply unsaid points to your argument.
Again, you are an idiot, and you have no point of view that's worth considering. Thank you for your display of pure neglect for any point I made and then acting like a 12 year old.

Thank you.

If the women are "ugly" by MMO Neckbeard standards, it will show that EvE is a real MMO and not some fluff for 12 year old boys. I know a lot of women get turned off by WOW and it's rather endowed female avatars. The kids stripping to undies in Ironforge and dancing around didn't help either.
Most women that are worth anything do have a hard or jaded look. The best looking ones that pamper themselves slathering their bodies in skin cream every two minutes I have found are the first needing to go over the rail to lighten the boat because we know they can't bail water.

Just made someone strikingly similar to this too. Shame the male version of the Khanids, and the Amarrians in general, look ridiculously older than all the other races. I cannot make a remotely decent male version of my bloodline(Khanid), which is really annoying. I hope they let us all start a-fresh with our characters, and not be confined to the same gender and bloodline. Seeing as these have no impact on anything except your starting system (correct me if I'm wrong), it seems completely void of sense to limit people to one combination, when there are 23 more they could be using.
Edit: Here are the 24 combinations for anyone curious: http://www.wtfpwnbbq.com/Incursion/Male_V3.jpg http://www.wtfpwnbbq.com/Incursion/Female_V3.jpg

Well this isn't just any woman let alone some random RL woman, this is a woman you designed for yourself. Since you designed it, you had to have a reason for designing it the way you did and sometimes all the reasons behind your choices may not have been consious to you at the time. This offers legit room for speculation about those reasons. That speculation will naturally go to sexual areas, since some people are very thin skinned and insecure about it. They are sort of like nature's own natural troll bait, and teasing them provide endless entertainment for the rest of us.

Ever stop to think that maybe those of us who don't care what sex our avatar is are the ones who are secure in our sexuality, and the ones who insult those who make female/male avatars while being male/female in RL are the ones who aren't secure?
Seems like the same idea that those who spread hate-speech about homosexuals and are homophobic are actually repressing homosexual desires themselves...

It's a mix of empathy and being lost in a fantasy world. Some guys play this game as a fantasy. Some of those people in turn are so out of it, they assume everyone else plays this game as a fantasy. So when they see a dude playing a female avatar, naturally they assume that player is "fantasizing" about being female.
Basically to me, people who get offended about female avatars on male players are outing themselves as being disconnected from the basic reality that this is a game.

"summer squash in a canvas bag"... *looks up summer squash.
Ok, I could see it getting a bit odd-looking for a squash to be held in a canvas bag as breasts... Especially since they're more shaped like the male phallus rather than breasts.
Unless you mean a specific kind of squash?

I'm gonna say it one more time before I go to bed, the chicks in the character creator are hot, seriously. You don't have to try very hard to make one. If you are having issues, you are either digging up memories of the earlier SISI releases or just suck at understanding the female body. Considering EVE's player base I would have to go with the latter.

simple fact, the games industry is one of the one of the most repressed, made for men, because they assume women don't play them.
thus you get a generation of people that see less woem in real life than they see digital women on a yearly basis.
it's sad, but a truth. And CCP is pushing forward, assuming women will play eve, thus what you ge3t, is what you get, if you don't like it, go play mass effect 3 or DOA, or Age of connan, or any other sexually repressed video game you can find.

This would only be true if you could successfully show that games and games alone were shaping the entire expectation of an entire generation; I'm pretty sure you can't. The facts are not that simple.
Marketing has been shaping expectations since Edward Bernays' Public Relations hit the publishers and marketers started using psychology to advertise. It has been going on since before the both of us were born and the modern form of expectation is the end product of almost 100 years of refinement in psychological methods for advertising.
None of what I've said however makes the immanent wave of big boobed Gallente girls that we all know is coming any less silly.

by mannish you mean looking like 905 of the felmae population of the earth.
Niiiice. Not everyone is 20 and hot.
And he's point is right on, it does look a woman, and the creator lets you make sexy young women too.
It is a FACT, that as people age, what whats men and women look different becomes harder and harder spot.
No one is saying you should not be able to look good, and young, and sexy.
Whats the last mmo you played that had woman beyond their 30's in it? seriously.
We'll this is an adult game, and if an adult wants to look like themself, then you'll see a lot of "ugly" women. It's like women everywhere feel like they have to live up to the staandard that is shown in the media like it's the normal way all women look. it's disgusting.

As far as the original post goes, the cues that this is a "masculine" face for me are the thick nose on a Caucasian face, the relatively low cheekbones, the chunky eyebrows and the flock of seagulls haircut. It could just be a "handsome" woman.

We are talking about actual looks, and how many old women have you mistaken for men? For me none never made that mistake yet and that's on facial looks.
I have thought that some men might be women on rare occassions but that was based on their hair seen from behind. Edit*
I did work with a woman once that did look more of a man, but that was just genetics being a bit unkind. Plus the way she wore her hair and the way she dressed (she was in her mid 30s).
Edit: And no, I was not trying to get off with them.

Yes, we're talking about actual looks ù that's what the physical and chemical changes affect.
It doesn't have to go all the way to mistaking the two for each other for them to be harder to differentiate. Even so, I have met older women and men who had grown increasingly and noticably androgynous over time. There were other markers that still made it clear which sex they were, but on looks (especially the facial features), they could have gone either way. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Well if all the females are ugly it should mean that all the males are playing male characters.
Btw I play either sex characters sometimes it depends on the characters you can choose as the base creation.
Only play one male character in Eve these days though. 11 females in AoC.

First, I haven't read through the entire thread, as there was just a lot of flaming going on.
The biggest disappointment to me was that once I had a decent looking face in the character creator, when it went to the next step where the photo is taken, things changed. There was no way for me to not have wrinkles on the forehead (and this was with age on the lowest setting and no scarring). There was also no way to make the eyes 'smile'. You can make the lips smile, but it really looks plastic if you can't make the rest of the face smile as well.
The chin thing is probably due to some people not realizing that you can play with the facial features to a large degree, including the chin, cheek bones and jaw line. You definitely can make a face with a softer jawline, but the default face, at least for Amarr, has a fairly strong jaw.

Not exactly...but my daughter made this Avatar and I took it over when she quit playing Eve. She spent some time making it look like her. This probably wasn't as hard for her as many because she definitely has a "Caldari Look" to her IRL...but she got what I call 'the stare' of herself perfect. I'll try to find a picture of her so you can do a comparison if you like...but this Avatar very much looks like her.
The only real deviation is that this avatar looks older than my daughter by a few years (she is 17). And yes....she has guys buzzing around her in a perpetual cloud... :(

Much bigger than this and she'd have just gotten silly, though DD's are def. possible

Honestly, those are maybe a little over average sized in my opinion... They're decent sized, but not approaching "silly" big...
According to my girlfriend those boobs are "in the upper end of the C spectrum" for what it's worth. So yeah decent but definitely not huge imo.
TY, my GF said the same thing, and that's why I called them "slightly larger than average"...
@ ptang "too young for the crowd ccp is looking for". lol. I was thinking the same thing about you. Seems you're the troll, not me . Also, a push-up bra does not "increase the cup size". They can't make B's into C's. They just honestly make things perkier. I've also known quite a few girls about that size with that cup size... Honestly, you're making me think you've never looked "under the hood" before, lol...

After zooming out a bit the character looks like a 60 year old witch. The more you zoom out the worse it gets. uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ

No wonder, compared to the original her face is totally out of proportion. The nose is much too small and that manjaw syndrome is again too pronounced.

You don't saaay... :).
I was kinda disappointed that in the original character creator there were no male types with my kind of face. Well, the minmatar guys suited me somewhat, the problem is that i'm white as cheese. I'm probably going to spend hours recreating myself on some alt with this incarna tool(And noooow... the handlebar moustache! muhahaha).Wait, can you create that kind of thing?
...That being said, how much does it cost to recustomize a character? One of the reasons I never managed to buy an alt with uber skills was that all of them looked really bad, and the one pretty girl who could fly everything I wanted belonged to a player who went inactive :(

These chicks are both do-able, the Caldari one is pretty hot but unfortunately it seems to me someone has already violated that hallowed ground from those black things on here face (or are they some sort of TWISTED freckle?).
Such a shame.
