Well, i find using artilleries against tarranis works, but nowadays all the ranis pilots fit plates so it takes a while to kill em compare to saw crows who can be killed in almost 2-3 volleys. Also you need to run the 20km scrambler which can be cap intensive, and claw aint got much cap, need to get warp jamming and navigations skills high.
My next experiment is to fit target painter instead of jammer/webber on my arty claw to see if i can hit em so hard they don't know to warp away yet. "Speak quietly and carry a big torpedo."

Can some1 tell me why to buy a claw instead of a rifter? Some more speed, 2 more low slots, but is it really worth 10mills more then the rifter? |

Most people use fusion as most people armor tank but under-tank explosive damage. I like to use Phased plasma and fusion mixxed to get through sheilds that much quicker.
Nothing wrong with emp tho. "Speak quietly and carry a big torpedo."

Suffice to say that the Claw is THE interceptor of Eve. There is very little else in your weight class you need fear.

Still, a plated claw whoops any other t1 or t2 frigate in the game that isn't specifically setup to kill one.
Ofc after the inbound plate nerf it will be pretty useless again, but hey, it has had its moments of glory now :-)

Occasionally, fights involving artillery can also involve som luck, because of the sheer annihilative power of wrecking hits (damned frustrating when you're on the receiving end, but hilarious otherwise, mostly when they're followed by some form of "wtf" on local)

As it's been said, A LOT more speed, 2 extra mids, 25% more damage is nice also; can't remember the exact CPU/PG walues, but it should be slightly higher ... The baby's woth it!

Lets talk about he Crow--they last the shortest amount of time. Once they reach that 10km range it is over in 5-10 seconds :) With the speed I have, which isnt the greatest, I can get within 10km before they can mwd away and then, like before, pop!
Yes, lets talk about the Crow... Let's see - 1 Crow with 3 t2 rocket launchers and a 125mm II, it also has a mwd with 400mm plate. Range on your 125mm Autocannons? around 3000-5000m max? Crow gets to 10km webs you, keeps at range and your wtfpwned everytime. Apparently, you find alot of noob pilots.. GL with that though.

as has been mentioned, if he's webbing you, you can web him and since the claw generally has the higher top speed, it sets the distance, not the crow.

Originally by: ELECTR0FREAK I wouldn't put any armor plate onto an Interceptor; that just defeats the purpose, which is speed. A plate will slow you down and make you easier to hit. In an Interceptor, if you're taking damage, you're doing something wrong.
When it comes to "tacklers" I'd agree with you, but inties aren't just there to hold down the griefers with a full rack of stabs in their low slots.
Originally by: CmdoColin I personally rate 2 launchers as they give you the flexibility of range.
As someone else mentioned, considering the Claw only gets a damage bonus (and a big one) for turrents, it's kind of silly to swap a turrent for another launcher.
Originally by: CmdoColin Its fragile - forget the plate - speed is your friend.
That's why you put a plate on duh
Originally by: Vampire Blade best anti frigate interceptor out there.
mmm, nope
Originally by: Harry Voyager One problem with using autocannon on a Claw is that a Taranis or Crow will paste you at close range. Taranis with its shere blaster power; the Crows, with a web and rockets.
Try pasting an auto-cannon claw, whether it's gank-fitted or tank-fitted at 1000m in a crow. There is a little bit of pilot skill involved ya know!
Originally by: dabster Crow is possibly the worst interceptor there is, against other interceptors (the Raptor may be even worse).

Originally by: Count Tiberio Can a claw have an active role in level 4 mission groups besides just grabbing loot?
I've heard of people "Speed Tanking" levels of 6/10 complexes in a claw, not exactly sure how they do it though, maybe its possible to do that in a level 4 too?

This setup has been tested against every ceptor out there 1v1 and even against another claw and has passed with flying colors. You obviously have to get in close and web them as soon as they get within 10km and they will pop in 10 seconds. (even the gallente ships :))
Just cause you've managed to win a handful of fights against a handful of ceptors doesn't really make for that good "testing". There are so many different setups out there, especially when you consider people often use sub-par equipment and fly with rubbish skills. P.S. that setup sucks.

Originally by: LUKEC there are 2 ways with claw: long range, which sucks, unless you get lucky with 280mm II wreck. Short range with 150mm acsII and 400mm plate.....It will die vs long range intys, but you cannot kill everything.
The long range artillery setup on a claw is actually very deadly, and quite unpredictable. The reason it sometimes seems weak is because to fly it effectively requires quite a bit of *skill*. Escaping from another long range inty while flying an autocannon-plate setup is very easy. You just MWD towards a celestial object and your garunteed to get atleast 20km away from your orbiting foe.

And the above setup is a pretty good one, the only major problem being if you come up against a gank-fitted taranis (neutrons and damage mods), or a blaster/plate-taranis (400mm plate and blasters) if you both web each other, and he activates his MWD while you activate your Afterburner, assuming equal(ish) skills and equipment you're going to be travelling at approx. 140m/s while your opponent is travelling at over 500m/s, which means not only does he pick the range, but he's going to be getting exactly into his optimal, very quickly.
The same goes for fighting any other inty with an MWD on. Escaping from a long-range inty who refuses to enter web range *might* also be a problem. (not sure on that though)
Originally by: Fred Lowe as has been mentioned, if he's webbing you, you can web him and since the claw generally has the higher top speed, it sets the distance, not the crow.
Again, assuming equal(ish) skills and equal(ish) equipment, chances are the claw will be going slightly faster than the crow, but the difference in speed will not be huge if there both webbing each other and MWD'ing. So while the claw will be able to reduce the range of the engagement it will take a certain amount of time, often long enoguh for the crow to kill the claw or atleast damage it enough to ensure it wins the fight. Also, not only does it have something to do with equipment and skills, but also the player-control of the inties. At the end of the day, just be glad you've got so many variations on what you can fit on your claw, AND still fly effectively. Something I don't reckon the crow has.

This is where she messes up really. Cap relay is a waste, you want a magnetic plate fitted. It's the key to this setup working

This is more of an all out speed question but ive been having so much fun in my Vigil @ 5028m/second.
I'd like to know how fast a claw would go with a gistii type a mwd and 4 local od's.
And how much faster is this than any other races inty's?

Cap relays are a waste realy. A magnetic plating works wonders against Interceptors like a Taranis.
btw: Had no problems killing a few 125mm Taranis or any other longrange Inty in a plated Claw. It's still up to the pilotskill rather than the setup.
I agree that Crows are very limited in their setups atm but Crows generaly win against anything that comes closer than 10km. An arty Claw and Crusader are still THE anti-Interceptor ships even more after the plate nerf.
