My first family computer was a TRS-80 Model 1, Level 2. Silver and black case, B+W monitor, and a whopping 16kb memory. Graphics resolution of 128 x 64, just B+W, no greyscale, no sound card.

heh, it just occurred to me that all our old computers were RAM only, hard drives weren't invented yet.
with all the fairly recent technological advances we take a lot of this stuff for granted now:)

My parents were cheap, so instead of the C64, I ended up with the Vic20. 5K of RAM and until I got a cassette drive, I had to leave it on so I wouldn't lose the program I spent all day typing in from a computer magazine... good times? um... no. I'm definitely thankful for the new stuff. I keep wondering how fast and small things will get before I die. Faster! Smaller! Let's go! Let's go! Hurry up!! |

I would have loved that. I asked for a computer. I got a Timex Sinclair. Did you know it could store almost three whole phone numbers?
I'm 43. And only occasionally miss the old days. Anyone up for a game of Lunar Lander or Asteroids?

Extasy computer was my first, at school. Command line interpreter..
Our first computer at home was a VIC20, soon replaced by the C64 when it came out. Played Wingcommander series on my very own PC (Armstrad with a amazing 10Mbyte hardcard on it), then online Descent. When DeltaForce2 came out I started a clan ('99) which still exists and have 2 meetings a year in the UK. (I'm 46).
Our CEO is 58.

The personal computer began hitting it's stride in 1980. That was 31 years ago. Someone in their 60s now would have been one of the 'pioneers'. So how is it strange that someone who is 'old' would be playing an MMO? BTW, this is the 1 billionth time this thread has been done.

Not sure about the oldest, but my kids can make a claim to be some of the youngest - they're 4 & 6 and quite capable of flying around killing NPC's, or even heading into lowsec and ratting.

Boy, did that command upset the Physics teacher.
:-p
Typing in games by hand from C&VG and then editing the code to make it do something different, none of the 'rubbish on a CD' you got later.

You laugh now, but this violent video game is warping their minds. You'll get a call one day, from the teachers at your kids' school... "Hello, Mr. Defined, I'd like you to come pick up your kids. Yes, they ganked a couple of the other kids. No, no ransom. No, it wasn't a suicide gank. They just pwned them near the bathroom gate. I'm afraid we'll have to set them as outlaws, you'll have to come get them."
