This would be a good opportunity to point out the myriad blogs we recently published on this very issue. The War on Lag is something we take very seriously, and we are constantly in the trenches fighting it.
Suite of Upgrades to the TQ database - Yokai details a ton of upgrades we've made to Tranquility recently
Flow Control is a new thing we've added, and Mort's blog gives the juicy details
Missiles still hate Veritas' hamsters, but he's winning that war
This page also details some of the things we've introduced with EVE Online: Incursion.
OK recently i was in a fleet battle of 500+ in F-D49d. The lag wasn't bad but it could have been better with command delays about 30sec to 1min. Compared to fleet battles like o2o and PNQ where system is loaded with over 1000. Hopefully CCP continues to push faster towards a higher goal considering most massive fleet battles ive been in are always over 1000. while a regular fleet battle usually is 400+ in system Kill or be Killed |

No, but the fact remains: tests have shown that high sensor strength already works just fine against NPC jamming ù in fact, it works exactly as you'd expect if they were using the same jamming rules as players.
Quote: But we do have the patch notes saying "...you can now fit your ship to counteract them" which seems to suggest that you couldn't before.
When it comes to things like this I tend to believe CCP (naively?) as opposed to a non-CCP person, who looks more and more like a troll.
As did everyone else. Long before that thread came out, there was plenty anecdotal evidence that jamming didn't work the way CCP said it did, but it was almost always squashed by the very same quote you provided.
However, with that bit of thorough testing that sturmwolke did, it's now pretty much proven that CCP are wrong. If it was just a flat chance, the same NPC ships would not get any more or any less failed jam attempts if you change your ship's sensor strength, but they did. If it was a flat chance, the same NPCs would have the same success ratio regardless of what race ship you were in, that didn't happen.
Just the fact that there was any variance at all show that CCP were wrong ù the fact that the variance adhered exactly to the success rate you'd expect from standard jamming makes them wrong:er and the fact that it was possible to infer the different jamming strengths against different sensor types makes them wrong:iestà Maybe it did work like they said back before Trinity, but it no longer does, and they would have to provide a pretty excellent explanation for the why the tests came out the way they did if they want to keep claiming that.
Until they do, the only way for the patch notes to be consistent with empirically proven mechanics is if they're simply finally and officially confirming mechanics that have actually worked that way for a very long timeà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Im honestly not bothered if I cant play the game, as long as I can at least log in to update my skill queue. If not, then CCP have just done their usual shafting of a certain % of the Eve community by completely ignoring what they previously announced. April is not Summer imo.

Meh.. Played a lot of other MMO's, Final Fantasy XI , FF XIV , Wow , and a fair few others..
I paid a hefty amount for other mmo's upwards to 80$ ~ 100$ USD for some.. Of the majority of MMOs I played, we got new major content patches about once every 2 years and had to pay for it, another 45$ for each expansion.. same with most Main stream MMO's .. Content comes slow and they almost always charge more money for it right along with having to continue paying your subscriptions.. minor bug fixes would come from time to time and other then that you don't get much else other then your next bill...
Since starting Eve online.. I have enjoy numerous content updates and bug fixes, and I have not paid nothing more then my subs, "which is surprising." I can also read fairly well so I have also noticed the Dev Blogs explaining Lag, why it is so, and what they have been doing about it.. along with what they intend to do about it.. So I understand with no need to complain that they are doing everything they can and that they are also still giving us Bug fix's and new content at the same time.. Oh yeah and the 0.0 to true sec changes for plexs and anomalies etc.. are you guys not living in 0.0 for PvP and conquest etc.. from my point of view these changes give reason to fight and conquer space.. if you really have an issue with this just go back to high sec where you belong lol.. cause clearly if you fear for your ability to live in 0.0 with true sec, then you must not have much regard for your alliance mates as to there ability to conquer and hold space of higher value :(
I am a more then satisfied consumer.. my money seems to go a lot farther in Eve online I have multiple accounts and although there are issues in the game and everything isn't 100% perfect the game has more to offer then most other games and is still giving me free content.. even if some of it isn't exactly what I wanted personally, I'm not 12 years old and gonna act like I can speak for the entire Eve community by saying something like "Once again CCP fails to listen to there customers" or "I pay my subs so we own this game, do as I say, arrr"
Instead will say that, I'm sorry but Just because you don't like it doesn't mean the entire community doesn't like it or parts of it.. CCP probably doesn't give a **** if you personally don't like every feature they add in there game (and I don't blame them) and here is a interesting fact.. I watched Fanfest, and they said it had been 18 months since last Fanfest and there user base has increased 20% in that time.. so would have to say that not only is the majority of players fairly happy with the game but they also managed to have a growth of 20% of new players/accounts, and are growing steady still.. so sounds like CCP is doing a pretty damn impressively good job to me.
not only that Plex system is awesome, someone else complain that CCP would lose money because they would not be able to maintain there subs with the true sec changes in 0.0.. come on really? lol said something like I do sanctums 5 or 6 days a month to pay for 6 accounts and pvp the rest of the month.. so if they remove them there losing 4 of your paid subs.. OMG you might have to do a couple more days of PvE to pay for you subs .. LoL until your **** alliance pulls together to conquer some space that has the plexs you desire!! maybe it's just me, but I kinda feel like, if your maintaining 6 accounts you gotta serious addiction and I doubt that CCP gonna have to worry about losing money from you..
But hey, Is just my 2 ISK worth of Input..
oh wait, CCP you suck, this patch is total ****.. wtf doesn't the new forums have a censor for 12 year old's *****ing about not giving the community what they want, when they obviously have no ****ing clue what the community wants. I demand the censorship feature for morons on the new forums! I paid my subs so I Paid for this game!! Do as I say, or ima cancel 4 of my alts!

So you are just cruising through not looking at the stuff they are doing to fix lag and only looking at news about incarna. Great. Good for you. You do understand that just because it's a incursion patch doesn't mean it's automatically only eyecandy? Perhaps you should actually follow the dev blogs more...in general.

To clarify, since a couple of people were asking. With this patch everyone will get a chance to re-sculpt their character. When you log in and select your character you will be asked if you want to enter character creator, and there you will be able to re-sculpt. You can also skip this step, for the time being or you can select permanently to not be asked again. Whatever you do, you will after this patch always have access to the re-customization service in stations, where you can change your clothes, hair and makeup, you can get piercings, tattoos, and even get scarified.

May not seem like much, but 400,000 subs, say 50% of them will be affected by this change, and 50% of them pay by ingame, going by my loss of income of 4 out of 6. Means you lose 66,000 accounts worth of isk per month. 66,000 x $15 = $990,000 lost income for ccp. wonder if your financial adviser pointed this out to you...
I would say you're out by at least an order of magnitude. Maybe 2% (tops) affected....of which maybe 20% pay by plex....then your arbitrary 4 of 6....I'd say 1000 accounts....maybe.....and that's pessimistic. Get a job and pay for the accounts if you can't make money in game imo. -----

Nullsec carebears must suffer. If you want to farm from now you can pay your monthly rental fee to the CEO tzar in other region Its good to hear that CCP at last done something with all this countless bots carebears that logoff in seconds after you appear in local \o/
You are forgetting that the pvpers let me are also crying now we have no way to keep fighting and loseing ships meaning that people like you will start to get less and less fights to the point that their is going to be more of a grind to make the isk to buy the T2 ships or the T1 BSes. Also this is comeing from someone who has always pay for the monthly with RL money in not In-game isk. But from the looks of it I think more ppls are either going to leave 0.0 cause regions let Pure Blind have no good systems at all and they forgot to nerf High Sec or Low Sec so now you got L4 mission runners makeing more money than somebody in the region likee pure blind. So why will players from high sec or low sec leave to make the same amount of isk or less at greater risk vs. rewards. I don't know but I think that alot of 0.0 alliances will leave 0.0 cause the cost to fuel to upgraded systems are not worth it, oh well CCP I hope this is what yall wanted.

Why are so many complaining?
The country i live in take half of my income. And when I go to the shop with the other half....they take another 20% in taxes of my money. And even after paying so much I still cant go as fast on the highway as I want and they (the government) still dont do what i want them to do.
So then, complaning that CCP dont do your bidding for a lousy Ç12/month? :)
I am not yet been in 1000+ player wars so i dont have the lag issue and like new stuff more then that money is spent on lag fighting. For other people its the other way round and there will be 1000's of oppinions what to do first.
But I like the game, its just, like real life, never perfect for all. And maybe it will not even ever be perfect for one. But its the package you get and its the package i like. And luckily its so for more people or I would be divorced by my wife by now i guess :p
I played other mmo's. Never did i see one that updates his players so often and complete. I really like the way they tackling now the 1000 (or something like that) little annoying things. And still developed new stuff.
So ccp, dont cry...someone(s) still love you :) (and 360k players with me)

This reminds me a lot of my days playing WoW, and patch notes and subsequent threads. Most people whine and moan that it's the end of the world, some support the changes. Some don't care.
In the end, the actual impact is much smaller than the doomsayers made it out to be. There was no mass exodus of subscribers.
Chill people. It's just a game; if these patch notes are seriously making you want to quit, then you're taking it way too seriously. And you probably shouldn't be playing in the first place.
On the other hand it is really nice to see nullsec players be the ones QQ'ing for once. It's a nice change of pace.

Edited by: John Burdell on 04/04/2011 16:24:20 It's a shame that the anom changes are still in the patch, with a 77+ page thread of people expressing a mostly negative response, at the very least I would have thought CCP would step back, delay that part and see why. Its not so much the losses of income that has only been around for a while that is bad about this change, its that (from my understanding) they didn't go to the CSM at all about it and had to know that the majority of 0.0 would not like this, but decided to do it anyway, players be damned. Also, it was with dominion that CCP gave us the opportunity to anchor ihubs, install upgrades and generally make our space worth living in, this patch removes that as far as the majority of people in 0.0 perceive it (the ones that rat for income). CCP says this will allow smaller alliances to take space now, which is nonsense. With dominion's system upgrades, 0.0 systems with the better anomalies could support a much higher player density living in them, which means alliances did not need to have the vast territory that was mostly empty. Now we are back to needing that, room to have sanctums and havens (the only anoms really worth bothering with) randomly spawn as well as the complex's (which US TZ gets screwed out of anyhow). Get ready for the return of massive drake blobs and the server crying over missiles, thats what pilot will be able to afford to field in the fleets. Lastly, I hope CCP intends to offer refunds for the anom upgrades for systems that are now worthless. RAGE Alliance space will go from every corp getting Dominion upgraded Sanctums and Havens for their work in upgrading the system, to our part of the Vale only having FOUR SYSTEMS that spawn those types at all.
edit; "Risk/Reward Scaling" was such a bull**** excuse for this its laughable, go remove L4 missions except 0.5 and 0.6 systems in high-sec and see what kind of response you get... then ignore it and do it anyway.

Sad to say I've never been further than 0.2 because I can't sustain the higher risk of loosing ships and isk with no or little gain. I allways balance risk and benefit against the joy or pride it brings to rip it off. To "hear" in local: "Darn, I allmost had her" or "%k where did he go???" makes it all worth the effort. Strange. Despite a neglected feedback thread on how bad it is to nerf the playability and income from 40% of Nullsec inhabitants they do think its needed to improve the playability of the habitants of Amarr (1.0 sec) because people cant wait until they clear the station undock before hitting warp.
