I have written a good deal of content in the new forum.
Will you wipe it clean?
Is it possible to somehow get my text off it? Even a read only copy would do.

This makes me somewhat puzzled. I do understand that you've been working on if for a while and want it to be done, but... maybe it's just me, but I don't really see why the new forums are needed at all. What's wrong with the current/old forums?

Originally by: CCP Fallout Heya guys,
We wanted to give you an update on where we currently stand with the new forums and the things we have been working on over the last week. As indicated in CCP Sreegs last blog, our investigation regarding the security issues and our process evaluation is still on-going. Next week, OccamÆs Razor will meet and work on a new testing plan based on the internal post mortem, and discuss moving forward with releasing a better, solid, new forum software for you to use. CCP Rhayger is also working on a dev blog, which will address some of the issues, concerns and questions you have expressed to us, particularly our use of the Yet Another Forum software package.
The new forums are a high priority for us, and we continue to work on improving them, and hope to provide you with more solid information regarding the next iteration of them over the coming weeks. We thank you for all of your feedback, and hope you continue to discuss the new forums with us as we move forward.
A dev blog will cover only so much... You guys should really do a Q&A session on the new forums.

These old forums are just fine. I hope that in the new forums you can implement the same character from in-game set-up that we have here. Where we are posting using our in-game persona.

There is a huge resource of information in these old forums. I spend many hours searching for information about ship specifications, techniques, and a long list of material which have been most useful over the years.
Is unfortunate to lose.

I actually quite liked the new forums, though there were a few minor issues. Looking forward to having them back at some point!

Import all the 'old' content from our beloved forums to the new - or you totally TOTALLY fail. It's a no-brainier and hasn't that been mentioned enough? How you can think of not doing so is ridiculous and incredibly arrogant and rude. It's a slap in the face to anyone who has posted ALL THESE YEARS. I cut a lot of slack over minor quibbles... but this is RIDICULOUS.

This EXACTLY. How you could consider starting a new forum without the content of what has been supplied by your customers for years up until now is outrageous. Trolling aside there is so much valuable information here it boggles the mind, and is stunningly insulting to toss aside. I can't believe you are even considering this path.

If you honestly believe great pearls wisdom might get lost with the forum migration, so that future generations are unable to benefit from your great mind, then I recommend to backup all your postings. Linkage

EVE doesn't wipe out all existing chars every expension.
EVE forum shouldn't wipe out all existing on-going discussions during an upgrade.

From my perspective the biggest problem with these old forums is the lack of a working search function. (Aside: talk about an insane problem to have -- is there any reason that couldn't have been fixed in one developer-day, any time in the last five years?)
Moving forward, it follows that a working search function is the biggest benefit of the new forums. Only, what good is that if none of the years of accumulated content is in the database and available to be searched?
Not migrating the old threads is completely pants-on-head. Hell, hire a summer intern, bring him to Iceland, let him spend the summer doing it manually if need be. It's not rocket science. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

Good luck. To mirror the language you used, we look forward to seeing the new secure, "solid," and bug-free forums, and once you (finally?) achieve said solidity and freedom from bugs with one piece of software, we will hold you to this new standard of quality with all of the other software products, already published or future projects, that CCP is managing. Keep up the good work.

All the negative energy generated on these forums is feeding the river of ectoplasmic slime bubbling beneath Iceland! It wasn't lava that caused the volanco near Eyjafjallajokull to erupt, it was the slime; and if these forums continue we could be looking at a disaster of biblical proportions!

First a better 'new forum' seems like it would be months if not years away, unless your definition of better is one without the security holes already released on us all. If you actually make it significantly better not withstanding huge security flaws I think we'd all welcome them much more but I highly doubt that is what we'll get.
Your work on the new forum indicates it isn't a high priority for you and you don't take it seriously or our issues/concerns with it either. Case in point shoddy job on release, failure to acknowledge or implement many 'basic' features/functions asked for in testing. Otherwise there is no point in testing like we've seen before where you seem to be pushing stuff on us and are expecting lots of 'oh awesome' instead of actual useful feedback which those who tested gave you.
I'd add that I'd much rather keep the old forum as is over migrating it to the new ones as I loathe using the new ones and would rather search/navigate old threads in the beauty that is the 'old' or current forums. Furthermore migration almost certainly means the termination of the current/old forums meaning the only source for that information would be the new forums. It is for that reason I say no to migration as it would likely be only a matter of time before these were wiped if it didn't happen right after data was 'successfully' migrated only to find that didn't really happen.
