I remember on multiple occasions, Menod Pentor gave me a surplus of ISK. One time it was 300mill, the other time it was 450mill. I believe this was 2 years ago. I swore to him that I'd pay him back, some way or other. Should be noted that I fail catastrophically at making money. -I'm much better at losing it -
When I first started playing, a corp mate of mind wanted me to fetch him a Caldari Navy Hookbill from Jita. I told him I always wanted to fly one. Task was simple - I go 20 jumps to jita, 20 jumps back, I get to fly and mess around with a Hookbill in highsec belts between those 40 jumps.
Corpmate was dueling his buddy in a Megatron and he in a Rokh. I was flying a Caracal for lvl 2s during this time and was wondering what a Navy Caracal would be like. Corpmate contracted me a navy caracal next day with "Don't die.".
Last year I gave away 10 rifters and 10 thrashers, a rupture, a cyclone and quafe ultra to this guy just starting out with "Have fun." within the contract.
There are generous players in EvE
Just have to be unlucky and meet them :D ------------------------------------------------ One Cannot Fully Appreciate Peace Until They Have Experienced True Pain. -------------------------------------------------

Try changing to a corp that teaches it's members something besides ninja salvaging. Possibly the biggest waste of time to ISK in the game.
You might find you will have a decent balance in your wallet.

I'm in the black about 50 billion.
How generous am I with it?
Not very.
I busted a nut to get to where I am. I'll maybe toss some newbie a few mil once in a while, but even that is rare. What's the point of having your game ruined by getting a big load of free crap dumped on you you that you A: can't use or B: waste because it was free.
No. A good portion of the fun in this game is acquiring things with some effort. Even if that effort is sitting in Jita spamming scams, at least you are doing something for your ISK.
Begging is so lame.

On the flip side, I have been given multiple amounts of money, assistance and understanding as I am a very young player and I can definitely say that when small amounts of money are no longer an issue, I will be using it to help other new players and old ones that have had a stroke of misfortune. Even asking for money in my opinion is tolerable as long as it's just once and it's not someone just trying to exploit someone else. Knowledge is as good as money in my eyes too and I have recently been given quite a good bit of information in the market that I am extremely grateful for as well.
TL;DR -People are grateful whether you realize it or not -Not everyone is out to scam or exploit someone else.

Thats a pretty tall order from a guy so proud of his corp he tells others to get a better corp without showing his own colors

Some guy ragequit and gave me 2b
Someone else gave me 1b in my early days for being a noob that was happy to constantly offer 1v1's in Dodixie.
I got about 3b of goodies for my birthday last year.
In return I've given out tech II cruisers and some command ships on occasion as well as countless fitted frigs and the occasional 200m odd donations to people that deserve it. I like to support solo pvpers that are willing to haemorrhage isk in order to make awesome videos.

Around Christmas I like to give away isk. Last year I gave away close to 2 billion in Isk to players at random. This space reserved for something witty..... |

Just the other day i gave a Myrmidon to a corp mate who had a hard time to get anywhere and the only thing he had was a Noctis he had borrowed from another guy in the corp.
Giving stuff to someone in need can really make the game so much more fun for him and he will always remember it.

meh, I don't give out iskies a lot to people. But last night I was out mining for kicks and this new char in a bantam came up and started mining.
Suffice to say, I felt really bad for the guy.. I mean a bantam? :P So I sent over 5mil or so for him to grab an osprey(after talking a lil with him and asking if he could use one or not ^_^)
EVE really needs more love, too many griefers and people taking it way too seriously around ;)

When i started a friend gave me 20 million. This ment i could buy all learning skills without a problem, get the funky merlins and even a caracal, used implants from day one etc.
So i return the same generosity. When i really like a new player i give them isk. If they start about paying back i tell them that in a year when 20m isnt enough to even undock, give it a to a nice noob you meet.
As for in corp, ive given billions away, and recieved billions as well. Bought a navy domi for a corp mate a few days ago because i knew he wanted one really badly and it was cheap. Isk can be made easily, good solid friends to fly with are rare enough

Me and a few ex-corpies used to fly around the First epic arc mission area, the one where you have to kill this guy, but his tank is really strong. Well new players would try and then ask for help as they burned up isk in ammo (never met an amarr flying player doing that). We used to fleet with the new person, fire one volley and then give them a "new person help bonus" and we would throw a few million into there accounts.
But asking for isk, thats lazy. Join a corp and fly with them, mine or trade even.

in my first week on eve a guy gave me a container of ore, dont worry he said, i wont shoot you he kindly didnt shoot me. and the week after that, someone in channel of the npc corp gave me 5 mill. i was very thankful because the first few months are hard. since then i've helped corp mates with isk and ships and whatever they needed. because i remember how gratefull i was for receiving those goods when i didnt ask for them. just someone giving it out of generousity. that also is eve.

I got a Myrmidon once from someone when i just started in eve. Just like that after about 5 minutes of conversation.
It more then amazed me back then and helped me a lot too. It is one of the ships i felt truly sorry for when i lost it.
I in fact paid the owner back when i could. But that doesnt change the fact he gave it to me in the first place.
I do tend to loan/gift people stuff when i feel like it and they seem to be in need.

Luckily I never had issue with isk, so I was able to help the poor for years. I dont have precise count but I for sure donated more then 300 bil to hundreds of people (mostly pubbies) in past couple of years. I still enjoy playing with real n00bs (not NC ones :D ) with my nonNC chars in empire, lowsec, FW, Incursion and I always donate ships and isk to the guys who are trying hard to succeed in this game.
I remember when I started playing there were a lot of guys who were donating me ships, modules and isk, and doing it now when I can seems normal to me.
For the end, you can imagine that I was getting a lot of expensive gifts over the years (check my sig) but the dearest present I got was Scorpion (vanilla one) from Larkoniss for my birthday. I will never forget that. Adam <3

I normally give out a ship of some kind on a corp mates or friends Bday. if i give them a ship to use to make isk in and they loose it their on their own. Makeing isk to buy ships isnt that hard when you really think about it. you just have to be smart about it.

Edited by: Major Templar on 24/05/2011 11:44:19 More recent was one of my alliance mates lost a bomber but held down a target for us to kill and I gave him more then enough to buy a brand new one and another guy lost a bomber and I gave him one of my spares. But my ultimate one was me giving my real life friend just a few million above 220 Billion. That was like a year or so ago.

To be honest I've been very lucky with people helping me out when I was a "youngling" When I first started I was given 60 mil then someone lent me a Navy Apoc to rat in (lol) plus I have a few friends now that I only have to ask to borrow 100/200/300 mil and as soon as I ask it appears in my wallet. In return I often lend people my tengu other ships, give/lend money (although one chap disappeared after a loan of a 100mil but meh). Treat people how you would like to be treated.
Generousity is actually rife in EVE but you have to be in a good corp good alliance and not be a c o c k yourself.

If there is need for ships to fight/earn isk with and I have them spare... Sure, why not? I mean, it's not like I can fly more than 1 ship at a time and I don't fly more than 5 kinds on a regular basis... And keeping a stockpile of spare battleships is always nice for these occasions.

I've given away countless ships to people for now reason other than they have expressed an interest in flying one, and conversely I have received a f'ing fantastic RAZER headset from an alliance mate when all my headsets died and I was short of RL iskies, thanks mate, you know who you are.

Every new goon that joins tends to have that 'oh a newbie!' moment. In that moment, he tends to get showered with isk, usually in the 100-300 mil range.
If you have a couple hundred people giving you 1-5 mil each, it adds up quickly. -- Kismeteer, carebear extraordinaire

I regularly go out to asteroid belts near noob stations in my hulk and give out cargo hold full's to random noob's that are mining with lasers. A hold full don't mean much to me but it's a lot to a new player.
