What New release brought us ? Jumpdrive ships nerfed, agents nerfed, skills deleted. Last patches of CCP are all about nerf and removal. Since Tyrannis very few improvement done but progress are very slow. It took 6 month to improve PI interface. We are crying for better Blueprint icons for a year and finally done but not as required. We loved this game for its complexity, Off course We like to see improved user interface , easy to control , logical approach etc.. but Looks like they prefer to simply game mechanic instead of improving playability. Why donÆt you go ahead and create EVE-Lite version?. Simple pew-pew game with one fire and one reload button. CCP exceed MicrosoftÆs success to create releases, patches and fixes. All their efforts divided between fixing bugs after changes and trying to simply game instead of adding new features. I wish they spend this effort to bring new features, instead of destroying old ones.

I like the changes for production and the blueprint change is more then Welcome in my corp, as we are producing hundreds of copies a day, its making it a pain to get the BPO out of that mess. I surely do appreciate that. After coming back from a multiyear sabattical to this, I actually am impressed on some of the ease of functionality.
Anyway only thing I could ask is faster respawn of WH space sites... but then again if we had too many we would have to fight much more for our lil pocket. *Disclaimer* Random Babble is quite possible... |

I like most of the changes, but could you guys add some extra agents to the stations so we don't have to jump out almost 20 jumps just to do level 4's? I don't feel like having to just to spend doing all that time traveling when I had a fine home in Gicodel. At least add more than one agent in the stations so we're not stuck with the courier missions.
I do like the books though, minus having to get my leadership up to 3 when I already had the other connections skill trained.

1)Nerf most of Sov 0.0 back to 2009 - check 2)nerf jump bridges - check 3)increase availibility and quality of all empire agents [ooh and npc 0.0] - check
Only the diehard remain in 0.0 once again, the rest of the bears go back to empire. Fleet lag solved. brilliant!
Good job ccp.. and im not being sarcastic!

To be honest, i think CCP have gone one nerf too far... We have to suffer Incursion(PVE enviorment) in our beloved PVP world, wich really gets in the way. sanctum and ratting nerfs, wich forces even more 0.0 space to be left dead, and jam more people in the lower sec space just to make a little bit of isk. Not to mention the over hard work it takes to keek sovereignty in 0.0 making eve more like a job than fun to play.
there are lots more i can go on with, but no one seems to care.
Keep your hard erned cash in your pocket. this games going down the pan. play ability is king of any game, and when ccp start killing this. its time to stop playing

Not at all. If you had one of the old connections skills trained we removed those skills, reimbursed you the skill points and put a new skill book in the hanger of your home system.

I will have to agree with tekant on this.. this could have been done better. I was hoping that the minimum was a complete color change for the the BP - copies would be light green. That wouldn't have been difficult to implement? The example given by tekant is preferable though.

Edited by: Morar Santee on 19/05/2011 16:24:06 For those of you who are, like myself, wondering about the following part of the recent patch:
Quote:
Information on a pilot's standings towards NPC corporations is no longer visible from 'Show Info'. You now see the standings information between you and the other pilot and the factions you each belong to.
I uncovered some interesting information:

CCP 1 > We identified another very popular feature with our playerbase! Checking the standings of other players is a fairly widespread activity for various reasons we can't determine because we have no clue about our own game, but it makes up for about 3,57% total bandwidth on a monthly aver..
CCP 2 > Wait, 3,57%?! How much is that in dollars?
CCP 1 > Err, well, approximately 5481,10 $ - but what I meant to say was..
CCP 2 > Fivethousandfourhundredeightyone dollars and ten cents?! That's almost six thousand standard donuts! Or five thousand four hundred with chocolate chips!!
CCP 1 > Uhm... I guess so. But what I really wanted to say is: We should try to found out why this feature is so popu...
CCP 2 > Feature? Feature!? This isn't about features - this is about donuts!!
And hence, checking player standings was no more.

I've now got 2 Distribution Connections, 2 Security Connections and 1 Mining Connections. What's more I can't even train the Security Connections skill since it has a pre requisite of Leadership which seems to have nothing to do with that skill. Would have thought the pre requisite skill should be Social as it is with Distribution and Mining. Surely this is an error?

However, it appears that this information has been removed from the factions and not just players' show info screens.
example
There is now no way ingame to indicate who a faction's allies/enemies are. (Besides the obvious Gallente/Caldari, Minmatar/Amarr & Empire/pirate ones)
Was this deliberate or did it just slip through?

+1 .. the like certificates route sounds like decent compromise.
The standings thing are an undeveloped role play assist part of the game that could be enhanced somewhere down the line.
It also bears on the players history, which seems to be so important to you all when it comes to name changes and stuff. I'd like to see more information on player taxes paid etc sort of like being able to look up past sales of fellow real estate brokers (as a member of the board of realtors) or being abel to look up municpal sales tax figures by company (if you know how)
Like kill-boards, these things help foster player knowledge of each other which ultimately creates a stronger sense of a virtual world of players who cannot hide from each other and where the in game history and reputation will follow them.

The standings change needs to be reverted, period. It doesn't need to be changed or any additional coding to make display voluntary. Standing checks were an integral part of gameplay - and removing the possibility to perform them was, for the lack of a better word, stupid. I don't know who makes the decisions to remove working features from a game - especially if all the new ones turn out to be bug-ridden and unpolished.

CCP, knowing the corp standings of recruits is important to know if they will mess up corp jump clone access. So now as part of the recruiting process, each applicant will have to take a screen shot of their standings and e-mail it to a recruitment officer. Is that really your intent?
Also to someone who mentioned New Frontiers: CCP said such multi-part mission strings belong to the agent type appropriate to the first mission of the string.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else on the standings bit. That really was an integral feature for several aspects of gameplay, serving much like a quick background check on major references of interest. I think it reasonable for companies to know if they are hiring an excon.
Otherwise, I'll have to see what the agent changes have done to my mission base, but the scanning changes make my wormhole life oh so much happier.
Personally, I think people moaning about the jb change should really think about the difference between nerfing and removing an illogical and exploitive feature.
Additionally, I am eager to see what your guys' big plan is for all these changes to ISK making mechanics. I won't lie that they make me a bit nervous, because it's change to a system I'm used to, but I know that I'll adapt. I'm of the persuasion that the 0.0 nerf and the agent change are not the only two changes in a vacuum and that there are more balancing changes coming that will start to make it all make sense. I'd be interested to hear what they are, but EVE is a game of patience, so I guess I can wait for the surprise.
Good work, keep it up. Though I am excited for shiny new things, so bring this soon too!

CCP states one of their goals in nerfing away agent quality and access is to promote mission runners spreading more widely throughout space, instead of clumping together in a few systems as they did up till yesterday.
I enter Eve after the patch this morning. Five minutes later I work out there is only ONE Minmatar level IV agent in a 0.5 system (FYI - system sec now solely determines reward quality), whose constellation is totally high sec (combat missions never send you outside the agent's home constellation), and whose LP store is one of the large full featured ones (yeah - small LP stores are still valuable, but given the choice which would you rather grind LP for?).
Yeah... that really works to spread us out, eh CCP? :-D Well done! ******ing missioning worked perfectly... -- Frog blast the vent core! |

^^ this, revert it back please.

The option to specifically show all or certain standings with NPC Corps and Factions would be a much welcomed feature. See certificates and the granulated method permitted to display all, some or none of one's certs.
While the ability to hide one's standings is of great benefit to some, likewise would be the ability to selectively display one's standings.

I'm trying to wrap my mind around how nerfing capital jump bridge use could be beneficial to the 0.0 community, Yes major coalitions won't be able to use networks to move around their cap fleets as easily which in theory could reduce the size and allow newer alliances to squeeze into the gaps. Though what I see is forcing smaller alliances with capital fleets to be forced to take down cyno jammers to make any money in the already overcrowded systems effectively opening to the door for the major coalitions to just walk all over them. As for fixing lag by seeing less capital ships on the field I really don't see how that could work, If i'm not fighting in my carrier/dreadnaught I'll just be in another ship in exactly the same place.
Someone explain to me how this works please.

My eyes are BLEEDING!
Jeez, that is so totally not EVE-like. Dark and dangerous universe? Yeah sure, lets litter it with increadible bright blueprint copies that also look really stupid.
Why didn't you just add a dashed frame around the blueprint? Or a C-O-P-Y logo running from top to bottom at the right side?

Since Tyrannis very few improvement done and progress is very slow. It took 6 month to improve PI interface. We are crying for better Blueprint icons for a year and finally done but not as required.
. Still not possible to distinguish different run numbers, research amount. I can create approx. 20 copies in each lab everyday. Hundreds of copy each different ME, PE and run numbers. We have already hangar limit for 920 items. We have too keep all copies in containers . Seperating originals from copies wasn't difficult part. When you sorted the hangar originals always come first and copies come after. difficult part is finding any copy or original with specific run ME numebers. or seperating reserched BPOs from unreserched BPOs
Blueprints icons could be made similar to ammunition icons. They would include ME PE numbers , similar to ammo icons size numbers. Here example Drake Blueprint original with 35ME and 110PE and 5 run drake copy with same ME and PE This is how should have done.
Im sure EVE developers dont play eve more than 30min everyday , If they would there are bunch of UI usability issues everwhere from fleet to PI interface and they would see those.
We loved this game for its complexity, Off course We like to see improved user interface , easy to control , logical approach etc.. but Looks like they prefer to simpfy game mechanic instead of improving playability.
Your proposed BP solution is pants.
Just allow us to add columns to the item detail view that cover "runs" "me" "pe".
Simple. Then we can easily see at a glance what the situation is as well as sort them according to those values.
Who the hell wants to be fetching a magnifying glass to read tiny tiny numbers on a coloured background?? The colour change is awesome, the item detail view could be improved.
While you're at it CCP add a "damage" column too. :)

The chain will depend on the first mission. So if the first mission is a kill mission, the chain will be distributed to kill agents.

Guy's example sucks the big one.
If you want something unsortable and completely useless to anyone who does real production go right ahead get your icons with craptons of meaningless numbers over them.
Personally I would like to be able to sort, organise and use the information such as Runs, ME and PE. Not just look at it uglificating my hanger (yeah thats right I just invented a word :)).

I would also like to voice my opposition to the removal of the ability to view corps, npcs and players standings, this is a very importaint tool that is used by virtually everyone.
Who thought removing this was a good idea? were they living in a box at the time?
PvPers have their epeen waving on killboards, mission runners have it on their standings page.
Knowing who is a regular player, who is a log in hardly ever alt is importaint info when recruiting, as is knowing the alliegance of the new recruit.

Click the Science and Industry tab on the left hand side of the UI. Click Blueprints or Corp Blueprints. You can sort by: ME, PE, Copy/Original, Runs. You can start jobs from there as well. The main purpose the icon change serves is picking the bpo/bpc out of a hangar/can and then moving them. If you don't actually need to move something (which is usually out of a can or a lab), you need never use anything but the Science and Industry interface. This is esp. useful at a distance.
My only complaint is that you have to select the visual displays instead of just the list. I wish there was an icon on the list display just like there are for faction/t2. |

I'm not in a corp like one of the above, but if showing all of a person's standings puts too much load on the server then just make the Relationship tab the first one so that people stop always accidently clicking on Standings and loading the whole list. Instead, misclicking will only load the Relationship tab and people that need to check standings still have the option to do so.
In the devblog, you claim that it was removed because some people are "stalking" on others. Eve is exactly about that and removing a VERY useful source of intel for the wrong reason is just hurting the game.

Not sure how I feel about this patch. Don't have a lot of confidence in CCP in general, so I expect every one of these changes to be bad, or at best a waste of time.
1) when you create a new fleet, you're taken to the fleet finder, not to your fleet. If I just created a fleet, why in the hell would I want to find a different fleet?
2) still no response as to WHY you removed the standings tabs. Between feedback in help chat and the forums, it's a resoundingly unpopular change and no dev discussion on why the change was made, or what alternative ideas there are to solve any perceived problems it caused. And it wasn't put in the patch notes either. When I saw it wasn't in the patch notes I thought "wow, I'm gonna compliment CCP on the forums for listening to their users and stopped that change." But nope, CCP doesn't listen to it's users. They're gonna make the game suck worse regardless of what their paying customers have to say.
Still not sure how I feel about the agent changes, but I have the feeling people are getting screwed somehow. CCP likes to screw people over, especially if they can obfuscate it to make it look like they are "improving" things. Just waiting for the shoe to drop.
I want to say good things, I really really do, but every single patch I find myself looking for how CCP has either screwed something up or screwed people over and try to hide it. I wish CCP didn't try to screw people over on purpose all the time so I wouldn't have to try to look for it with every patch.

That's actually a very nice idea to reduce server load.
And if this feature was really removed because of "stalking", I'll laugh myself to death. Not even kidding. Maybe we should remove locator agents, too. I mean, ****, people are using them to stalk each other!!! Not to mention that the standings list makes no difference whatsoever in this regard. You'll simply run two traces instead of one. Target still in space in the same system after 20 minutes? Evemaps says nice agent in 2 jumps vicinity? Bingo, missioning. How the hell does that require the standings list in any way?
Seriously..

Considering how much conversation there was in the thread prior to this change, I am shocked (although perhaps shouldn't be from the comments people are making) that you went ahead with the change regardless.
Do you actually hire employees at CCP without doing background checks, or following up references? If so, then I need to submit my resume. Cause I know you would find my skills far better than anyone elses. Why, you ask? Cause I said so. That seems to be enough.
So how do we check standings now? Need their full API. Yeah right.

Hedion University went from 3 level 4 agents with mixed missions to now only courier agents, as all agents were Advisory.
I'm disappointed that I'm being forced to move to another corp, likely in a busier system, and losing a mix of missions. Devoid was a fairly quiet region, and the Riavayed system was only populated by ice miners (it has 2 ice fields).
Agent divisions need to be looked at.

You need standings for agents as though they were Q-20, but get paid as though they were Q20. You don't get free access to all agents, though they are significantly easier to access.

lol, you're right. However it only reinforces my cynicism rather than abates it. Now if I think there might be something good in a patch, I must be mistaken.
Moving the info to a window where it won't be accidentally accessed and a whole ton of data transferred unnecessarily would have been fine, but a flat removal is just wrong. Background checks from CQ/incarna agents would have worked and been a very small isk sink.
If you have to go out of game for info that is needed (not just wanted), something is wrong. Standings between factions fall into that category IMO. Going out of game for a better way to get the information is fine.
It doesn't give a good first impression for a new player: What do you mean I have to look out of game to find out who my faction allies are?

Edited by: Kiraeg on 19/05/2011 22:22:01 Before the patch I completed a lvl 2 mission called pirate intrusion and received 1.044% standings increase for the agents corp. This morning I completed a lvl 2 mission called pirate intrusion for the same agent and received 3.16% standings increase.
Same mission, same agent/system/corp and almost 3 times the standings rewarded. I ran 3 or 4 more missions before I had to leave for work and noticed that all of these seem to have standings rewarded at a much higher rate than normal.
I'm not certain, but it seems that the standings reward being given from this level 2 agent is the same as would be given from a level 4 agent? The isk and LP are about the same as yesterday, just the standings increase seems to be higher.

Is there not an API for standings? Bit busy myself atm, or I would look at putting up a quick page to pull peoples standings with the limited API key it requires. If no one else jumps on this, then I will see about doing it myself in a couple weeks.

i agree with the poster that suggested the mixed mission agents like advisory and public relations should have been split into two agents. The mixed agents were there for a reason, a lot of the smaller corps only had a hand full of level 4 agents so they needed them to do double duty. Just in this post its already been mentioned that Hedion University and doval labs have lost all their level 4 kill mission agents and of the 2 soe used to have in empire the only one left is in caldarie space which is apposing faction territory making it totally unusable to some due to kill on-sight status in caldarie space and totally unappealing to a lot of the rest of us.

I also liked having a mix of mission types.
I was thinking it would be nice to have agents give you a choice. For example each would have buttons for "request encounter mission", "request mining mission" and "request courier mission".

As you may have already guessed, folks ain't keen on these changes and so far you haven't even acknowledged our unhappiness.
I think you folks need to open a new thread where we can list all our complaints about latest version. Then, address and fix these issues one by one. If what was said at the fan-fest about this being partially our game then let's cut out the flaming and criticism and together discuss how we are going to deal with this.
And don't just brush this off and say "they'll get use to it". You're not those kind of people.
Does anybody support this proposal or do you think this is a thing that'll just blow over? "To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself." |

Look in your assets at your medical clone location. Up to 7 skill books will have been seeded there, depending on how many of the connection skills you had trained.
if you had all 7 skills trained previously, there will be:- 2x Distribution Connections skillbooks
- 2x Mining Connections skillbooks
- 3x Security Connections skillbooks

I do like that proposal.
However, after reading through all the replies here (and in the issues thread) I would also like to state, that I am actually NOT thinking, that things are going south in any way.
I do like the simpler missions categories. Why doing 97% of my time what I like and getting 3% ****ed off? I do like agent quality gone. Why should I have to move just because the same type of agent is better 20j away? I do like the new colors of the BPCs but I would like even better, if you could add columns for ME/PE/Runs in detail view (as suggested above)
And also, I too would like to have the faction standing back.
mkint states, that CCP intentionally tries to screw us over. I must oppose that statement with utmost urge. This is not my feeling at all. In contrary, compared to other online games, CCP can look back to quite a proud evolution of their game with an impressive amount of real new features added after initial release.
Lastly, I ask to not forget that out of 43'000 players that are online pretty much around the clock, only a little percentage find the way here. Most of them because something is not working and/or they want to complain. Therefore feedback in this thread is heavily biased as a lot of happy players simply skip the forums.
All in all I think it is time to say: Thank you CCP, I believe you are trying hard to keep and improve this game in a way we like it. Not an easy job with so many players, careers, places, etc.

Is there a way to get back to old version of the fleet window's history tab's text fromatting?
The new unformatted version sucks big time! I can't distinguish at a glance what kind of broadcasts are there, i have to spend at least 2 seconds reading who needs and what. It is especially bad for logi pilots in the heat of battle.
The old one was very good, every info was there in the right order, highlighted, and i could sort them the way i needed.
The new has like NO options to sort. And has that issue now that the log screen has: the entries' text aren't in the best possible order.
Can we get back to old version pls? Was this even broken earlier? Does this really needed a fix? Seriously?!?!?!?!?!

Of all the MMO's I've played, the trolls never seem to amaze me. It seems they complain about one common theme: The sky isn't blue enough.
What makes matters worse, is the fact they have the ability to post their same complaints on multiple toons. They try to mend "community" feelings and perception of changes that take place in the game.
My opinion is that the changes were needed and that they provide players with a wider range of agents to interact with. But I guess giving players more options is "dumbing down the game."
The only problem I do see with agent changes is the progression of players reaching higher lvl agents too soon. I'm not sure if corporate standings has been scaled to the new -20 availability.

It's difficult to get a true estimate as to how many players agree or disagree with the changes. The problem is in the fact that those of us who actually use and post on these forums are nothing more than a sliver of EVE's subscribers.
By using the forums alone to come to a conclusion, we end up ignoring about 90% of the games total players.

Ok hopefully this post reflects my thoughts accurately but I'm rushing it a little so here goes.
From my understanding the intention of Eve is to give as much control to the players as possible within the rules bound by the Eve universe. In some sense this would mean to make it as much like life as it could possibly be with a sci-fi space theme. This appears to be an incremental process with the activity first being seeded, then gradually handing control over to the players (such as manufacturing etc).
Now in saying that, having information like standings as public knowledge is a little bit invasive into the private life of the alias. What would be nice to see is a way to spy on players, but with a bit of effort, or for that player to be able to prove such information if the system was opt in like certs. Hopefully this is where it's going. That way there is much more depth of subterfuge etc that can occur adding an extra dynamic.
Regardless, haters are always going to hate. I know I have looked up players corp standings to find out how developed their character likely is. Hopefully this doesn't end up being something that is just removed and forgotten about, but rather developed in a more logical way to reflect what we see in real life, such as using Private Investigators, snitches etc.
Maybe I just have my head in the cloud, but things change.

Actually, most of the "injection of ISK into the game" comes only from GTCs. Bought with real money by "PVPers" who have no other source of in-game income.
I'm curious as to when this is going to get nerfed
As for the patch, capital achievement, mush on!
You are both idiots.
One the primary source of ISK injection are bounties not mission rewards. Bounties come from rats some happen to be in missions others come from belt ratting or running anoms and plexes.
Two no ISK is injected into the system via GTC's. All that ISK that people spend on GTC's has to be gathered through in game means (ratting, scamming, missions, trading, etc)
When someone buys a GTC from CCP or an authorized vendor they are paying real money not for ISK but for game time (which is why it's called a Game Time Code). When they exchange it for ISK with another player they are exchanging the game time they purchased for the ISK the other player earned through in game means.
ISK is only injected into the economy through a limited number of faucets. Those being bounties, insurance payouts, mission rewards/bonus's, and NPC buy orders. That's it everything else is just moving that ISK around from one wallet to another.
As to the patch, as nice as all this may be (Debatable) the only thing I want to know is when the hell is the fitting system going to be fixed?

Edited by: Barbelo Valentinian on 20/05/2011 08:48:39 Personally I like the agent simplification in terms of making it easy on the brain. The way the agents are distributed has panned out pretty well for me too (i.e. it fits pretty well with my "plan").
But I also don't like the simplification because it's easy on the brain. It feels too easy now, it seems like another small step in making EVE more and more a cookie-cutter MMO in some respects. Before, I had to actually spend a bit of time thinking where I wanted to move, to balance out the various percentages of missions given by any agent in relation to my wants.
Now that layer of complexity is gone, the game feels "streamlined" but now also a tad less immersive. Having the different departments gave a background sense of "something going on" in the EVE universe ("public relations"? the mind just automatically "fills in" some background complexity around that - now that's gone).
I have even more serious misgivings about not being able to see NPC standings in relation to each other. That, again, was for me part of what gave a background sense of depth to the game.
EVE is almost unique in being a game in which there's no "fog of war" - it feels like a high tech society where information is at everyone's fingertips. That being the case, not knowing the "politics" feels, again, like another little case of "dumbing down".
Someone nailed it on the forums - most games seem to go the way of the devs streamlining out the background rp-ish stuff out of the game, because it doesn't mean much to most people (who are all about achieving and killboards). But if you do it too much, where's the virtual world, where's the MMO...RPG?
You might as well just have a pew pew game with a chat lobby if you go too far in this direction.

I'm extremely baffled at the fact people feel that this change has somehow "dumbed down the game" or made things too easy. If someone could please explain to me the main difference between doing missions from following branches as before: security, intelligence, command, and surveillance. Yes they sprinkled a few currier missions in, but the missions were grabbed from the same pool. So please tell me the reason for even having each of these branches in the first place? To fluff things up for everyone and to create a perception that each one provides something unique?

Ok I'm going to post this again, as it seems to have gotten lost and CCP don't seem to bothered about responding.
I run level 5s
Before the patch I'd get around 68K - 72K loyalty points per mission.
Now all level 5 agents are Q12.
the two skills for security based missions were at level 4.
After patch
the two skills for security missions were removed.
Ok fine, I requested a mission and got the same level of loyalty points, give or take, around the 68K mark.
Now remember this is WITHOUT any connections skills trained now.
Also remember that level 5 agents are now effectively Q20 (as are all agents).
So I now train the new connections skill, adding my reimbursed skill points to take the skill to level 4 same as before.
I ask for another mission, shock horror EXACTLY the same loyalty points as before I bothered to train the skill, yeah the skill that gives 10% per level to loyalty points.
In other words, although I am getting roughly the same loyalty points as before the patch, i SHOULD be getting more as the agent quality has been increased.
It appears the skill book actually isn't doing bugger all, the standings increase may now be higher than pre-patch, and in fact the loyalty points WITHOUT skills is higher than before, but the NEW SKILLBOOK IS NOT ADDING ANYTHING TO THE LOYALTY POINT REWARD.
Some response would be, you know, awesome.

Originally by: Barbelo Valentinian Edited by: Barbelo Valentinian on 20/05/2011 08:48:39 Personally I like the agent simplification in terms of making it easy on the brain.
^^^ and this. As to the poster slightly above this who asked why the removal feels "dumb-ed down" the answer is above, but also its a sense of immersion. Ie. you run a security mission, you may feel a bit like a security agent yourself, you run an intel agent mission, you may feel a bit like a spy. Never mind that the mission was a mining op. Its a role play thing. And its removal aka. dumbing down makes the game less than what it was.
Ask yourself, instead of simplifying the agents, what if they had added specific missions for each agent type. Would you have been unhappy with that? I doubt it.
Here is an example. Security mission: L2 Q-12, find Andropov Vee, he has been a very bad boy, he is somewhere in the system, find him and kill him, now it gets interesting, the guy could be in a ship around a planet, or an asteroid belt, at a gate, or outside a station. You kill him in his cruiser and get a chance to salvage his wreck, that has a chance to have some decent loot. Reward: 20m isk, LP commensurate with level and risk, salvage chance for faction/deadspace loot 20%.
Now, Security mission: L4 Q20, find Andropov Vee's brother Marco, he got revenge for his brothers death and took out a station tram bus. He is somewhere in the region, same details as above except battleship kill. Reward: 75m isk, LP commensurate with level difficulty, salvage chance for faction/deadspace loot 60%.
CCP you fill in the blanks around mission levels and rewards.
ps. I forgot to mention in the above missions, that if someone else kills him, too bad for you, its registered as a kill, you may or may not get the lp and mission reward, but the salvage is gone. Tough I know, but this is supposed to be eve.
pps. CCP you can generate a list of a thousand names that rotate in mission report, so you dont feel your killing the same guy over and over, maybe a quip about how everyone thought this guy was dead.

Has CCP hired all the out-of-work M$ employees? Changes not necessary, changes not needed, changes for what reasons? Sounds like most like BP changes ('cept maybe the colors) but agents, jump gates, skills? I'm so glad I plan out my skill training far in advance. I can hardly wait for the next skills revamp. I'm always excited to see what time I've wasted. (Am I the only one who feels that skill changes tend to hurt in direct proportion to the amount of time you have been playing?)
I used to say that EVE wasn't complicated, just complex. But as it gets dumbed down, I guess CCP can begin to attract more and more of the WOW crowd. (Well, I guess that's gonna be good for Killmails.)(Here, noobie noobie noobie.)
BTW, I have multiple Security books for each of my characters. Neat, I must get to train up Security multiple times. Maybe at the next change I can get enough skills pts back to finally get my titan. Wait! Maybe I can use them extra books to scam the noobs! Kill em and scam em. hmmm... things might be looking up after all....

I love the fact bpc look different than bpo but their color is TOO BRIGHT, my eyes! /o\. It's actually way harder to read the name of the bpc below its image now.
Also you guys just added a new click to the manufacturing process making it even more annoying and cumbersome: the quote window used to have default focus on "Accept Quote" button so I usually just hit enter twice and was done. Now I have to grab the mouse and click the damn thing -- I take offense on people feeling offended by me |

Also CCP please put the agents back the way they were, I can understand the removal of the quality for the ease of it but removing the types too? Also you have hurt the data core industry severly because now there are more high quality agents to go around...

Who thought that this was a good idea, if CCP really doesn't want people to be "creepy stalkers", and the standings were used for recruitment, how about only people with the role of "Recruitment Officer" can see them (not including directors/CEO, they can still see them).
That will allow background checks AND still allow recruitment.

A big mistake by CCP, changing ALL Advisory agents to Distribution!!
That means you can no longer do combat missions for your starter Corp, but being stuck with Courier missions ONLY!!!!
IMHO, Advisory agents should have become combat agents...
CCP devs appear to have never done L4 courier missions, talk about boring (plus some are so huge you need a freighter to do them)

I used to use the Back button a lot, now you only have the choice of accepting the job as it is or cancelling it completely and starting from scratch. Please can we have our "Back" button back.
An example of where the Back button was very useful. I do a lot of my production to a time schedule, quite often 13 day builds. Not all my BPOs are researched the same, so I might get 2950 of one item and 2900 of another in 13 days. So I select BPO, select slot, set 2900 as quantity, go to next window and see that the build is only 12d12h, so I decide I can do 2950 with that BPO instead of 2900. With the back button, it was just go back and change the quantity, now I have to cancel the whole job and start from scratch.

I like the new changes. I can finally tell my BPO's from BPC's. Intalling a job from a list of 300 BPs just got that much easier. The only thing left is access to remote research jobs on BP's that are sitting in a POS structure. Really hate having to get within 3k when i could do the same thing 20 systems away if it was sitting in a station.
The fleet changes. Ok, that was a goof. I havent actually tried it but going back a screen when trying to join one seems counterintuitive.
Finding an agent will be easier and when you get sick of being ninja'd in Motsu you can make 10 or 20 jumps to a nice quiet system and mission your brains out in peace. Thank you thank you thank you.
Bring back the standings info. It's essential for many people.
I wont comment too much on jump bridge changes. I'm not in 0.0 anymore but i can't blame some for moaning about it. I'll just giggle in that carebear style that annoys you so.

Edited by: Zaphiem on 21/05/2011 00:01:58 I agree with all the people that don't like the new standings info. I really don't see why this feature should have been removed. It was a handy and important feature. How on earth are you supposed to check if a new corp member meets your standing requirements now? This part of the patch makes absolutetly no sense in my eyes and should be changed back immediately. The old system was fine.
I also think the old fleet window was better. Why remove the start screen with the two buttons to either quickly form or join a fleet? Not much point in that either. Now you have to click the top left corner to form a fleet...
I do like the changes to the agents though. Removes the hassle of looking for a good quality agent and those pointless courier / mining missions from a combat agent. So thumbs up to that.
Edit: also like the change to the blueprint icons. And to all who complained about still not seeing ME / PE / runs on the icon, you can check all that quickly and easily in the science and industry window under blueprints... three numbers on the icon would only unnecessarily clutter it up imo

True, but the fact I cant view peoples standings got me to come on to the forms and post about how terrible an idea it was (my first posts ever, joined: 2009.10.24)

What these guys said. Seriously, the loss of the back button is perhaps the more annoying of the 2 changes that really got to me.
The second change that bugs the hell out of me? The new refresh button. In placing the new refresh button, you've taken away priority for the "accept" quote-screen button, which being able to hit Enter on that screen sped things up a great deal when we're talking dozens of jobs each day. Pretty please bring back the ability to hit Enter and install jobs... For the children's sake.
But I really do appreciate BPO/BPC differentiation, I really really do.
PS: There should be a "use first available slots" button so you can multi-select prints, that way 23/7 module invention doesn't turn your brain to mush. Just sayin'...

Please make us able to see standings with npc corps again! i see a wartarget in local with a lvl 4 agent in system! i wouldnt know if he is:
a) missioning B) mining or C)Just traveling through!
Even is he was missioning and there is ten stations in system you expect us to go through and search every station to look for him? if our locater agents says he is in space, how would we even know which station he would most likely return too!? or wat the hell he is most likely to be doing in space? there is no tool or info to clear that up for us.
This is a majour tool i use in my high sec pvp! now with every lvl 4 equally as profitable and standings hidden to the public eye how in this world would we even know wat he is doing in a system? you have really ruined it in this patch!

Ok, let me see if I understand right - this patch added a much desired feature to make refining probe scans a little less painful. Also a different BPC colour, even if it is a ghastly one.
The jump bridge question I can't really comment on, though from a purely theoretical viewpoint it seems unnecessary, plus it's currently bugged with certain black ops ship types I'm told - not good.
So why was everything else changed?
I mission a lot, and what I remember is people *****ing about boring missions for years now. Not agent quality, not grouping of players into mission hubs (though you've not even changed that! In many caes you've actually reduced the number of desirable agents! LOL), not divisions, nor too many social skills. They cared about missions putting them to sleep above all else. So what do you change? Everything but what missioners really cared about :-D Nice.
But you're not done - you change the fleet finder in counterintuitive ways, you remove the back button for R&I (why on Earth would you do that?), you remove any easy way for people to see each other's standings, and a bunch of other pointless and frustrating changes.
I'm sorry, maybe I'm just plain dumb. But I look at 95% of this patch and I'm left shaking my head and muttering "if it aint broke, don't !@#$ing fix it!".
If you had wanted to improve Eve you went about it in a really half-arsed manner. I don't know about you guys, but I'll be asking my CSM member what they're going to do about this crap. CCP - either improve Eve or leave it the hell alone. Don't make half-arsed nerfs and call that an improvement. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

No, literally. I find it absolutely counterproductive that we, ourselves, cannot see our own standings if we show info on ourselves. Only way is through the character sheet... but why bother?
The idea of removing standings for viewing seems pointless to even have standings. Hell, as a ceo, I can't even go into the ceo interface and look at standings and view composites to see who in the corporation is high or low. i cannot determine who is improving or not.
And the worst part about it? I know I am not alone on this: Our corporation is among many out there who need to see at least factional standings for our hiring potential recruits. Like many out there, we have minimum standing requirements. How checking a person's strengths and abilities/qualities is damn near impossible... all because I can't see a damn thing now, and CCP: YOU JUST DO NOT SEEM TO CARE.
Add on top of that: this change with connections... Fine. I'm so used the years of patches with bad ideas wrapped up with bad coding all over them, and usually I just bite my tongue, go with the flow, grumble to myself, and hope to adapt... hoping one of 20+ patches per upgrade will eventually show signs of reversion or compromise to its users.
But now I don't eve have not enough SP to bring back the older replaced skills to their level 5 equivalents... and I have a ton of duplicate Connections Books... gee, great, thanks.
So, CCP Zymurgist, in response to your wishful optimism and encourement request: "We hope you enjoy this latest release and we encourage you to provide us with feedback."
No I don't enjoy this latest release, and now you have my feedback. Sadly, with the past 15 month track record of bug reporting and assisting, I don't think you or anyone in CCP really honestly cares whether I (or anyone) enjoys what you change or not... but please, I emplore you:
PLEASE: LET US SEE OUR STANDINGS. PLEASE REVERT AT LEAST THAT ONE HORRIBLE "ENHANCEMENT."

Originally by: Toovhon Ok, let me see if I understand right - this patch added a much desired feature to make refining probe scans a little less painful.
I think this sums it up far better than I could post.

High sec PVP just got put into a coma with beating it just took from the standings nerf bat.
The standings nerf has in short removed mission hunters from eve . Because If you don't have some idea of what someone is doing in a system or where their agents are who is going to waste all that time combat scanning just to ultimately find out he was just passing through? you are left with just station or gate camping....Boring Boring
EVE is a Dangerous and harsh environment that is why we play it..if someone is at war and insists on missioning they do it at their own risk or drop corp.
Remember we cant open cyno's or drop bubbles..we hunt missioners or gate camp and now the challenging and fun 1/2 of that has been completely removed were left staring at a brain dead gate camp hour after hour day after day...

Still no word at all from CCP about the removal of the standings tab, eventhough this is a feedback thread where 50% of the posts are about this subject?
I thought a feedback thread was made to monitor and then eventually respond to such posts...

Allright, I'll attempt to give constructive feedback on my experiences since this patch. I'll omit certain things as I have no clue about them.
Blueprints. The Good: We finally get different icons for BPO/BPC. Thank you CCP. The Bad: I personally like the design, I think it looks rather cool instead of just having a different tint color. (Maybe for colorblind users?) The Ugly: All these ungrateful *******s wanting an arm when you give them a hand. YOU CAN FINALLY DIFFERENTIATE BPCS FROM BPO, STOP COMPLAINING, and PLEASE learn to use the S&I Panel. We didn't even need the different icons for blueprints, all CCP had to do was give us ability to select more than one BP from S&I panel so we can move them in mass instead of individually one at a time.
Agent Quality: The Good: Grinding is less painful, and since missions in EVE are more of means to an end this is good. Hopefully this will have the effect of people spreading out like CCP thought it will. The Bad: There's a possibility of people just relocating hubs from highest quality agents to lowest sec system essentially simply migrating missions hubs instead of breaking them apart. The Ugly: Can't really think of any, as long as all features are working as intended.
Agent Divisions: The Good: Much less confusing than before, overall less training to be done in social for mission runners. The Bad: Takes away some of the immersion as mentioned before, but I think the benefits outweigh the negatives. The Ugly: I think this should've been thought through much more carefully rather than flipping all agents like this. Many corps that had 50/50 kill/haul missions now only have hauling agents, thus giving us little practical chance of increasing standings with them. This was a big change and needed more careful, individual NPC corp level consideration.
The Skills: The Good: Everything! Free skillbooks, free skillpoints, less to train for running missions. The Bad: None? The Ugly: Clueless people complaining about this on this thread... God I wanna slap them!
Manufacturing Job UI: The Good: Eeh... refresh button. The Bad: Accept is not on default focus. The Ugly: ....No more back button?????!!!!!!!!
Fleet UI: The Good: Single history tab does seem less cluttered and clean. The Bad: Some of the things already mentioned on this thread. The Ugly: OMGWTFZORZUSMOKING? No more sorting by time? pilot? How about looted item or amount?!!!! Horrible formating? And no more EXPORTING LOOT LOGS?!!!! Please tell me this is belated aprils fools joke, and will be fixed in an upcoming patch. CMON CCP, you really screwed up this one, even though it's less complained about this is the worst "improvement" I've seen from you in 6 years.
Info On Pilot's NPC Standings: (Oh boy...) The Good: No annoying NPC standings loading when you're just trying to view personal standings to the pilot. I also found showing every NPC Agent standings towards that pilot useless and cluttering information. The Bad: I think there's plenty of posts explaining why this is bad. (One of reasons not posted yet is that you ruined an entire meta gaming industry of people raising standings for others) Possible Solution: Retain default focus on personal standings, not NPC ones so they don't get loaded unnecessarily. Remove NPC Agent standings. There used to be a few faction standings, a handfull of corp standings.. and zillion agent standings in the info window, bringing back faction/corp and removing agent standings sounds like a reasonable compromise.
Overall, I want to thank you CCP for continually addressing and improving this game, even if you trip sometimes, I personally appreciate all the hard work and I know your intentions were good. I know it's how hard it is to please everyone in a large universe like EVE. Keep up the good work.

Removing agent standings from public eye has made 3 huge parts of the high-sec game obsolete or useless.
1. High sec wardecs "useless" you now have no way to track down "Locate" or "Hunt" your targets other than camp a random gate and hope by some random mindless chance they happen to pass through ..yea right...
2. Mercenaries corps "useless" and "Obsolete" How do they find their wartargets now? Use a locater agent you say? let's see jump 8 jumps to locator agent that now sends you 12 jumps to your target only to find out he was just passing through that system....thats been broken for years ...and that is why everyone used agent standing to locate targets.
3. Combat scanning "obsolete" Let's see jump into system with wartarget have no idea what he is doing there so you jump all 12 stations first "nope he's not there" ok now combat scan down 50 ships that are in space...yea right all that would take 1/2 a day per system... only to find he was just passing through....ummm yea
It would have made it even harder to find mission runners during a war now that they can run any lvl 4 agent they want and all sorts of systems becouse all agents are same level, now but to also remove public standings. Impossible to find them...
Simple now you want to avoid a wardec go mission running..

Quite frankly, I have to wonder why it takes the community (not just Niko, but this post sums it up perfectly) all of 2 days to come up with a perfectly viable solution to fix all actually existing problems with NPC standings - but paid CCP staff releases this game-crippling, horribly implemented "improvement".
Not sure whether it's really about this change anymore. It's about the "WHY?" and no one from CCP is actually willing to address it. If a developer were able to post here and give a coherent explanation, and perhaps even tell us how they are going to implement an actual improvement, ok. But they're not. They simply remove a feature players heavily relied on for recruitment, corp management, high-sec warfare and probably a **** ton of other stuff and go "lul its gone".

Just went to put on a dozen jobs in a POS factory and try out the new refresh .. ugggh. This is not an improvement. Sure the refresh is nice, but turn this into a story ..
as a POS assembly array user, I want to be able to put on a 31 run job in a POS, see that I don't have enough minerals to complete the job (or see that the end time is too late and I'll already have left to go to work on that day), and change that to 29 runs without having to go back to the start and select all the other parameters of the job again. (previously I could go back one step, use a spinner to change 31 to 29, and requote - now I have to go back to the very beginning with the dialogue boxes not remembering most of my preferences)
This should have been obvious to your QA guy :(

There's another potential solution to this standings issue for finding this info out on another player. Leave it the way it is now and provide the info from a different source.
Tie it to the Locator Agent's report in an EVE Mail. Even if the locator agent reports they can't be found (WH, etc...), it will give you their standings information.
No more "freebie intel", instead you pay for additional information but get a report on it in game. This kind of information has value for RP, PvP, etc... so it should still be available in game but another "cost sink" wouldn't be a bad way to go.
Such a solution should actually add to RP though it will tick off a lot of "on the cheap" PvP types.

Good point. Honestly seems to me like this patch was developed by people who don't play this game on regular basis. I dont post on threads like this often enough to know if CCP usually replies here or come out with some kind of official thread/blog later, but some kind of answer or acknowledgement of our concerns would be appreciated. (Or at least a youtube video of somebody responsible for this patch scrubbing something with a toothbrush)

This would be annoying but still better than nothing. And not because it's going to be more expensive, it'll just be more annoying because not everyone has a locator agent handy nearby. Recruiters, pvpers, and those involved with raising standings for others (either corp or personal) will have to deal with this extra nuisance.

CCP i think you must have forgot that it is impossible to catch a covert-ops cloaky ship at any gate unless the pilot is drunk or on crack..
And now we cant hunt or track them through agent standings either..
Why not just remove all weapons and ammo from high sec period just cut to the chase..
High sec PVP is now basically impossible and completely broken..

Partly to reduce stupid people from saying stupid stuff, but mostly so we can see how our skills, standings and etc affect the agent.

Stop being a tit. Drones behaviour is buggy, either drones are supposed to aggress or they aren't, either they should focus fire or they shouldn't. If they are, then you should be able to rely on them as a valid game mechanic, irrespective of any ECM change.

It also hurts: 1) corps that wish to ensure new members don't mess up corp jump clone projects. 2) low sec PVP, not just high sec. Was a very useful hunting tool. 3) high sec war dec corps that look for towers and adjust ransom based on the subject's current ability to re-anchor a POS. 4) finding individuals who were working for the same agent/in the same system and forming player bonds. Now you don't know if they're there for the PVE or 'just passing through' 5) it helped older players know which new players to fleet up to share standings with when they saw others online. 6) did I miss it in the patch notes? 7) it was a nice feature that added an extra dimension to the game.
Please re-examine your decision CCP

I love the probe changes, but what the **** were you smoking when you made the broadcast, etc. history change? CHANGE THAT BACK!!!
unless you're watching the window specifically you can't tell when someone new has broadcasted for reps and it's just all around horrible. When I'm running in nano gangs and trying to pay attention to who's broadcasting that's new vs people I already have locked up while also making sure I'm not flying towards hostiles, the new UI makes it 10 times more painful than before to do that.

I dont like the new patch. Things they did NOT fix:
drone window resizing every session change
timestamp obscuring chat and window resizing
deleting my settings, bookmarks and overview settings everytime there is a patch.
Things they screwed up:
agent divisions, it was fine the way it was, now its a distribution nightmare.
fleet window, i really want to find a fleet after I form a fleet
agent quality, you no longer have to work towards better, now its just handed to you
I dont like the new agent divisions, all my combat givers are now distribution. I spent months looking and researching what I wanted to do, and where I wanted to do it. I spent months relocating assets and grinding standings, missioning with friends and helping others with missions. Now all my available agents, within 22 jumps of my assets are useless. I guess, no more missions for me, oh wait, that was my primary source of income. I guess no more Eve for me. Thank you for many fun months, but its time to move on to something that works.

Feedback: Just experienced the revised fleet broadcast history interface late last evening. I like the "clear broadcasts" button, but the way in which the broadcasts are displayed is truly terrible.
What happened to the bold and clearly displayed command and then related info? Now the text is smaller and more difficult to discern. This is detrimental to fast moving action and high-volume target calling / PvP activities.
Please bring back the following format (or an approximate), ensuring that the ability to right click the broadcast and take contextual action is retained.
Command: Character X has broadcasted something.

Epic arc agents now only require 5.0 corp or faction standing it seems.
With the expected increase in LP generated will there be something done to prevent continued inflation in the tags needed for LP store prices? Most prices have jumped significantly, 250% for a few and 800% increase for some tags.
Either an NPC supply, or tag free options in the LP store would be solutions.

Quote: Information on a pilot's standings towards NPC corporations is no longer visible from 'Show Info'. You now see the standings information between you and the other pilot and the factions you each belong to.
Please undo this change. A player's standings is very useful information, not only for a single faction, but for all factions, and all NPC corps. Remove the agents standings, I'm all for that, but please give us the rest back.

This for God's sake. You only just fixed the fleet UI to make the character starting the fleet Squad Commander, which was brilliant, and now you done broke it again!

Dunno if this has been mentioned previously.......
Manufacturing Issue:
Before patch - You selected your lab etc, and input the number of units to be manufactured. If you did not have enough materials, then you could not add more, but you could reduce the number of units required so that you could get the job started.
After patch - If you do not have enough materials, you can now add more and re-apply, but you cannot change the number of units required. If you do not have any additional materials to hand then you have to start the whole process again to reduce the number of units in the job.
A real pain.

Why was there so much fail in this patch? I'm not just being nasty to CCP. I genuinely am curious how this happened. Was it a failure on the part of devs? Q&A? A failure in testing? Are CCP only testing using yes-men?
How do blindingly obvious fails like the manufacturing window mentioned above, fleet window, viewing player standing removed, and high level agent access being way too easy occur? I just don't understand how this gets past Q&A and playtesting.
Or am I badly out of touch? Do people typically magically have spare minerals more than they want to adjust production runs to compensate? Do corps and players actually want to have no idea about a player's history? Do missioners actually want less diversity, complexity, to mission in smaller numbers of hubs, and want past work gaining rep to have meant nothing?
Am I simply a poor deluded fool who unwittingly does everything in bizzaro-opposite-world ways?
Because I'm stumped by this lastest patch which, aside from probes scaling while holding option and possibly jump bridges (though opinion on that is also split) seems to be 'fixing' stuff that wasn't broken.
Can anyone help me understand the massive disconnect I'm experiencing here? Thank you. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Assuming that CCP software development methodology isn't so ****ed up that they throw ideas at developers and say "have at it," the project work starts with the design process where QA may or may not be involved (pro-tip: they should be). It is at this point where project leads, designers, coders and testers have the chance to nip problems in the bud. This is also where the s'hit ball starts rolling down the hill if the feature design isn't well conceived.
After this last patch, I have been wondering if the game designers use pseudo coding, flow-charting, white boards, charcoal on stone or *something* else to better understand, document and communicate how stuff is intended to work -- especially when designing changes to existing functionality. A sane and semi-competent project team wouldn't let this crap pass by 'phase 1' of the design process.

In regards to agents standings no longer viewable.
For those who want to track me when I don't want tracked, good. For those who I want to know my standing so I can join their corp, bad.
2 possible ideas: 1. Make standings choice viewable just like certs 2. Make API key give standings, if it already does this then corps who want that info before joining can get it from API key. Problem solved.

The readjustment of the agents suck. I am not talking about only having 3 categories of agents. Even though I like variety with my agents I don't have a problem with them being put in to 3 categories.
My complaint has to do with the reassigning of the agents. My home system is Jel. I was using a level 4 agent from Sisters of Eve in Gicodel (4 jumps from jel) which was an agent that gave me a great deal of combat missions with great payoffs. Now that agent has been turned in to a commerce agent giving garbage payoffs for a level 4 agent. the payoffs are comparable to a high end level 2 agent.
Since the nearest security agent for SOE is between 15 and 20 jumps away from Jel, my home system, Can you please turn the agent back in to a security agent. I can not find a decent agent in my area. It also dont help with the calderi and amarr want to turn me in to space dust if I enter their soverignty.
as for the other agents. with them giving out garbage for payoffs. its a waste of time to even do them. I make more isk staring at a belt full of roids.
All I can do is ask that you make this adjustment. Thanks for considering it.

Strongly agreed!! My SOE agent got turned in to a commerce agent. and for a lvl 4 agent to be paying that low of a payoff. I don't see them being used too often once word gets out that those missions flat suck. They should have left them alone. Verity of missions from an agent is good. I have no intentions of taking anything in to low sec for a commerce mission that only pays off 200k and 300 l/p's that is ludicrous. The missions should have been left alone. perhaps tweaked a little but nothing like what it is. Looks like its back to mining or looking for hidden plexes. I have too much crap to be relocating. Anyway as I said before, no more missions for me given the situation. The idea that agents should give 100% of a certain type of mission is a good one but you built this update out of freakin' straw. If you'd have taken your time and built it out of brick then it wouldn't be falling apart like it is now.
The agent quality system before the change gave me options, I could have taken that +20 quality lvl4 agent but he's in low sec and I'm ready for that. I'll have to settle for a lower quality lvl4 somewhere in high sec. Then my short pilgrimage begins. Now you limited our options, made agent quality pointless, and sent thousands of pilots (and their corps and alliances) on a cluster f*ck pilgrimage to places all over the damn map. It's like the gold rush but without the gold and the oxen pulling the wagons have down syndrome.
Instead of taking away most of the divisions and leaving a finger full, you should have taken away none and written more missions. More diverse missions for each division that aid in the career that the player chooses. If I want a career in fleet command then the command division would provide me with missions that require me to make tough decisions that determine the outcome of the mission.
As for the standings issue, I could download that API program that lets me see character standings so that I may feel comfortable to recruit him... (provided the player gives me said API) but the problem is that you're making this API program a priority not an option. There are other problems but I don't want to upset the tl;dr folks. (I personally think it should stand for "too lazy didn't read" )
In closing, reverse this patch and start over from scratch. "To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself." |

I agree. As a logistics pilot, the "new and improved" fleet consolidation took 2 giant steps back. Why was time wasted "fixing" the tabs into drop boxes, it wasn't broken? Why on earth were the broadcast columns removed? Now I have to READ READ READ who wants what, wasting time and risking fleet members ><

Some remarks on a patch (my character is mainly a haulern the core the carrier in hi-security space and fulfills fighting missions a little).
About standings of other pilots' with NPC:
I am happy that it isn't loaded entirely (my opponents who have casually looked on my character's standings, died in lags :) ), however I consider that review of relations with NPC, at least with factions and corporations, should be accessible on players' demand. For example, the button "See standings with NPC" in "Standings" tab. It is necessary as for scouts and fighters for search of a residence their targets and targets' jumpclones, as for space dealers - determination of possibilities of competitors and partners (at stations what NPC corporations they are have easier NPC brokers' fee, refining/reprocessing taxes, etc). And for player-corps recruiters - for a cognizance of all aforesaid about candidates.
About current changes in system of agents:
This attempt is very unsuccessful.
1. Relations with NPC to a patch were valuable. Step by step I reached the best agents, strengthened acquaintance to some of them for obtaining of the best rewards, reduced taxes for ore refining and trade on interesting for me NPC stations, and it was a game part, it was fun. After a patch standings with agents have lost the value. And relations with corporations - even relations from 0.0 upto 8.0 (for jumpclone) can be reached with 2 days - unless it interesting?
Beginners in EVE also it is quickly reached good standings with NPC, allowing to take any missions and it is easy to do everything on NPC stations - but whether it will be interesting to them? Beginners simlpy will transit this part of a game content (and will give for it less $ to CCP, I consider) more faster.
2. The fixed type of mission from the agent - yes, the player will receive mission of that type which expects. It has facilitated... No, not game process as it was supposed. It has facilitated non-stop mission grinding. To the player for whom mission running is game, it is easy fly out to other agent. And if this player wishes to quickly-up relations with NPC, having fulfilled encounter mission for Distribution agent? No more choice...
It would be more logical, that the agent with whom (with the agent, instead of with its corporation or faction) capsuleer have good standings, periodically (not always) asked to capsuleer, which type of mission he wants to receive - the chance of a having choice is more better than more better the standing. That is, that this convenience was, but got not for nothing, he should achieve at first.
Also, about gameplay by a "hauler in hi-security space" - with the last patch the balance of incomes for this sort of gameplay was broke. It was earlier necessary to search for balance between trade with players, trade with NPC, performance of express missions from players and from agents. It was necessary to think how to maximize my income and how to reduce risks, how less to fly with empty ship's cargo, how to find the best clients.
Now it is not necessary to think - is a lot of readily available lvl 4 agents who never offer fighting missions (that is, agents are not "4-hours stayoff") who offer quite good money in recalculation to ingame-time (show me the player-warrior who can fulfill 2 missions simultaneously one character - for hi-end haulers performance of 2-4 tasks simultaneously is normal) who as a result give more incume, than any of the types of activity specified by me. Instead of to think it it is not interesting.
And as for me interest in all areas of gameplay in which I was engaged was lost, I meanwhile will refrain from EVE subscription payment. Later it will be visible.

Quick question: after the latest patch, certain pilots took advantage of tutorial agents to gain massive amounts of standings. This was fixed shortly after as it wasn't intended design. Now then, what happens to said pilots who made off with days' worth of standing grind within a few hours? Some have even hit 10.0 faction standing, which is weeks or even months worth of work, and that is simply ridiculous.
Normally from any other MMO company, we can expect a systematic reversion of standings meant to "correct the developers' error." Is CCP willing to openly admit a mistake and fix it, or will the lucky exploiters get away with it?

CCP... I think we should change the agent standings back to public view. I believe this is another "carebear effort" to halt another part of this game's pvp in wardecs. If you're going to do missions while at war then you need to be extra careful of your surroundings similar to worm holes rather than another step in the opposite direction. I joined this game initially bc of the hardcore pvp aspect it has to offer. You guys know you're at the top of the list in this area and if we continue to change that aspect for the worse than you guys are going to be just like every other mmo.

Without agent standings being public view now you can't check local and see if you have same agent standing as someone else to see if you have something in common and make friends.
Besides public agent standing was like a trophy case for mission runners...

+1 to putting the standings back in the public eye
Not sure where the idea came from to remove it from view but it certainly wasn't a player- unless it was a griefed, 'UMAD' type of carebear.
It added a layer of complexity that without it, starts to feel like a very topical game. I sincerely hope this is not the overall direction of the game, I fear it'll attract the WOW MMO'rs, ie, the very casual and short-term gratification seekers.
In my case, when I lived in a wh I would stockpile the locations of my potential future targets should I choose to hunt them out. Gave me a 'blacklist' to one day to return to. Looks like that hobby may well vanish. Shame.

You know how you sometimes get a little song stuck in your head and can't stop hearing it?
Well this is what's been going through mine for the past few days ...
Dumbing Down The Game,
Dumbing Down The Game,
CCP Is Dumbing ...
Dumbing Down The Game.
Ruining the complexity and variety that made playing EVE a rich experience trying to keep noobs who are going to quit anyway from quitting has been a mistake.
Eliminating all meaning to bloodlines killed what little value there was to the EVE back story - since the players were no longer a part of it. People ask which faction they should play and the answer now is - it doesn't make any difference - they're all the same.
Eliminating Learning skills - just facilitated all those silly people who just couldn't wait to get into a battleship. They were not better off for it.
Now - the richness and complexity that was the missions system is gone. Replaced by the simplistic and the boring. Before you had to think about which agents you wanted to use. Now they're mostly the same. And within the few classes of agents left - they give out the same damn mission types every single time. The worst part of running missions was that they were boring and repetitive - so what did you guys do? You made them even more boring and repetitive.
EVE is not going to be another WoW or The Sim's - it just isn't.
So - in attempting to make the game simple enough for all the stupid people in the world to play - you are making it a stupid game the intelligent people who were playing it may get tired of.
You had a special, niche game. You are making it into just another mindless game for the mindless masses - just like most of the other games out there ... games I might add which do not have an 8 year life span. The mindless masses get bored - no matter what you do - and they move on to the next big thing. So you're ruining what you have for something you never will have.
Congratulations - you're on the way to being the next SOE.
