Actually looking at the file names that are in this build, assets for shops, public places and what-not are in there, we just cannot go through the doors to get to them.

Edited by: Raid''En on 27/05/2011 15:36:04 hum i don't have access to character creation, not being able to see the preview of the vanity items, that's normal ?
also got big camera / movement bug after sitting.
and character speed is back to the old thing where you were slooooow
and where are the market data we have on previous build ? that was the only good thing, and it has diseapered... i don't care about your career agents >_<
ps : about minmatar lighs, they are only available on high shaders, low shaders are dark.

I'm up to 5fps from 1.9 fps, but UI lag is still severe. This is with graphics settings turned to off or low as applicable, Medion MD 96970 w/GeForce 9300M S. With this card/these settings, I don't see engine glows on the intro screen =(
If the mouse is over a button when that button is drawn, I have to move the mouse off the button (for at least half a second to allow for UI lag) then move the mouse back over the button (for at least half a second to allow for UI lag) then I can click it. Best example is character recustomisation - when you switch to portrait capture, the finalize button is drawn under the mouse pointer (since that's where the "next" button was). I have to move the mouse off the finalize button then back over it again before I can finalize.
Pathing is atrocious, my character will walk past the spot I double-clicked, instantly turn around (with legs mid-stride), walk back over the spot, instantly turn around, walk back over the spot, etc. Repeat about six or seven times.
The station UI is still unusable until the CQ has loaded. Sure, I can open the ship hangar as soon as the loading bar disappears, but none of the ships are shown until CQ has loaded.
Opening the solar system map increases framerate to 11fps in station (it's 23fps outside). The solar system map is closed when docking, but stays open when undocking.
Very promising update.

This build is much more stable and I'm loving all I've seen so far!
Quite liking the new Carbon UI, the huge amounts of Aura speak is awesome too. I did some of the first tutorial and it's much improved over thee crash course I battled with when I first started.
Was a little disappointed when I fired torpedoes and they just magically appeared out of my hull when all the the new turrets look so awesome in comparison. When can we expect new launcher/missile graphics?
I'll post a bug later, but there seems to be an issue turning on HOR resources. (Get black screen in space, but fixed when I docked.)
+1 for the ability to use the hologram to ship-spin.

Will the Friday test be available in any form for the Mac, even if it has a few more bugs than the PC version?
Will we ever get to test a candidate release before the TQ release? We tend to get different bugs, and would like a chance to report them.
Will the June 21 release work for the Mac? In the past you have stated that Incarna 1.0 will not be released until its ready for both Mac and PC, is that still the plan?
If the Mac release gets delayed like every CQ test release to date, how will we be playing the game?
Confirming this build finally works on macs, but the preference directory has been moved without notice which makes things a bit tricky. See this thread.

PLEASE CPP listen...
CQ is way WAY to dark. Not all of us are 20-40 year olds, have the same monitors, vid cards, or health issues, some of us have real life eye problems. Many games have a "gama" setting to allow the users to select thier own lights. Yes... we all know that you are "trying" to enforce a "look" of eve, but in doing so by forcing no options for the users is not the way to go about it. What good is a "look" that one person can "see" that many can't see!!??!
Please listen- it's to dark.

I was knocking on the time spent on the CQ that could have been better spent on other current issues... Now I'm feeling kinda bad -- The way the captains quarters look is pretty great, guys. And you know it's going to be even further polished, refined and expanded to other cool station interaction.
CCP has such an immense task of tackling so many different subjects and branches of where they want Eve to go. Slowly but surely I'm being convinced they've got something really awesome going here, the last Q&A shows quite a bit of the dedication and listening they do.
Is CCP biting off more than they can chew? Probably.. but I'm still liking where this is going =)
PS. Minmatar Quarters *should* be the darkest of the 4 races, looking a bit more run down and not as luxurious or tech heavy. Besides, that's the kind of place that I'd consider relaxing. Can't wait to see the others in their full glory.

YOU REMOVED CIV WEAPONS! YTAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
I can't tell you how many times I had to explain to my friends that civ items were useless, or more so that normal mods took cap, or ammo.
It might sound obvious to us who have played for a long tie, but havig a single weapon i the whole game not use ammo was stupid.
I love that you teach players now by making them fit real guns to thier noob ship. thank you CCP.

What? This can't be! I thought EVE was dumbing itself down, to be made easier for WoWn00bs! Wown00bs can't be arsed to check ammo in their guns, they're used to swords and axes and stuff that don't use ammo!

Captain Quarters with the compeleted textures looks really nice. A downside is that it stresses the gpu a lot. My gpu fan runs at full speed. First game which achived that. Congrats. That means the gfx-card is getting hot, very hot. How many cards will burn? ;) |

My system is below a mediocre nowadays, probably not really low yet.
Build is definitely better than previous, still lightyear away from finished. Slow, both CQ and UI. Glitchy.
Still is a major resource-hog, though better than previous. Few BSOD's here and there. Some random notes:
- is this really a final lighting ??? Walls may look OK, but avatar certainly isn't. There are literally 2-3 spots where a face somehow resembles the one in character creator. In most other places it is black/dark brown poster sketch. Like it lacks ambient lighting, or something. Avatar on a stairs to balcony is mostly a black silhouette. Is this that super duper unique lighting, hyped a lot couple years ago ?
- when you look from CQ to balcony, a floor between CQ and stairs is here. But if you look opposite way, it isn't.
- someone pulled recruitment and central screens all the way up. Mostly hidden by the stuff hanging from above now. In the still visible bottom part of the central screen there is nothing meaningful and nothing interactable.
- almost all my chars have a random patches of their skin hanging in the air next to a doorway.
- it is still possible to put avatar in an endless turning around in one place.
- bondage geeks rejoice. Female avatars still have their elbows tied behind their back.
- after sitting on a sofa, you may stand up, but can't actually exit it. Avatar is stuck in a sofa, does not respond to mouse.

I don't like how AUR show up on the mouseover on the wallet, for 2 reasons. 1) I don't give a **** about how much AUR I don't have, because I don't see myself EVER using it. 2) It makes it harder to see how much ISK I have at a glance, which I do care about.
CCP being greedy bastards trying to fund a new private yacht for the execs is already disrupting gameplay.

I'm pretty sure that small bit if just the minmatar feel. Once the other stations are out go dock up in an ammar or caladri station and feel the light

Edited by: Veimo Lailara on 27/05/2011 17:56:04 You should really make use of the corp screen. Enable the corp to put up bulletins conserning ops etc. and we'll have a powerful information tool :)
Also, it would be nice to be able to zoom in on the screens while sitting on the sofa, as it is now it's better to stand infront of the screen in order to see everything. Oh, and please tell maintenance to get rid of that trash bag in the entrance to the quarters, it stinks (really though, capsuleers with a wealth greater than nations wouldn't tolerate this if EVE was real, even in minmatar stations).

I played through whole beginner tutorial with new Amarr char, and also walked in CQ quite a lot.
1. Rate the graphics performance (framerate, UI lag, etc) Score: 4 20 fps on my laptop is enough for me (while I do get 60 fps on TQ). I noticed some graphical bugs, but nothing major. (Except maybe occasional mostly black screen after undocking if postprocessing is at maximum but disabling postprocessing fixed that.)
2. Rate the overall performance Not sure what you mean with this, I'll rate usability. Score: 3 It is usable, but there are still many problems left. - It's hard to walk away from sofa. - When walking from ship to CQ doorway, avatar sometimes ends up walking in small circle instead of walking to doorway and staying there. - When moving mouse around I kept getting those UI buttons shown which were useless since I was too far away to activate them. Maybe don't show them if I am too far away to use them. - I kept trying to activate some things on walls which did nothing. Is there no interface for e.g. different station services or showing world map? I don't remember more ...
3. General feedback - CQ is a lot better than what I expected. Excellent work - I'd like to be able to zoom to main screen when sitting on sofa.

Yup, runs is more appropriate tbh. The point being tho that it is possible for OSX only users to actually try it out and not waste an hour DL and installing only to be met with a black screen. Again. |
