"Oh lol, you play the 70$ monocle game?! Hah!"
I feel the same way... EVE players used to be the elitist bastards of the MMO-geeks... now we're the noobs with the item mall and overprized monocles. *shudder*
Quite fking true. It's AMAZING how much bull**** we put up with from CCP and they STILL think they can screw us over time and time again without any consequences whatsoever because they have an undying loyal fanbase- whom they basically give the finger to in most of the patches and game changes of late.
WELL DONE CCP! Keep testing your playerbase and see how long your farce of a business keeps operating! ----------------------------------------------- One stupid item in a 'pay to play' game shouldn't cost 5 months of playtime to buy in an item shop! |

Now get them to link the internal mini-magazine 'Fearless' (should be 'Clueless'.)
Soundwave admits to being a dishonest shill for CCP and confirms that in spite of their lies, they still intend to make microtransactions for far more than vanity items:
"I would like virtual goods sales in EVE. In fact, I'd like to sell a lot more than vanity items. Does this mean I'm an evil capitalist ...?
Let's hope not, although that's the impression I get sometimes when interacting with our customers. There is a pretty overwhelming perception amongst EVE players that these changes are bad. I think they're brilliant, but our players don't. We're going to face an uphill struggle, and the reason many of us never talk about this publically [sic] is that we'd be burned at the stake by the players."

An astonishing amount for an item with no in game functionality. For comparison, BethesdaÆs often mocked Horse Armour DLC cost $2.50 on release, some 28 times less.
Kotaku - Eve Online is selling horse armour in space

Those articles are all well and good. And it's nice to see some exposure of these issues outside the community, But they all have one thing in common. none of them have mentioned the real problems that have arisen with this patch.
I'm kinda on the fence with regards to micro\mega transactions, If you don't like it, ignore it. Hardly game breaking stuff.
But there was little or no mention of just how bad CQ is, no mention of the reported hardware issues, shoddy programming..etc etc
Those are the real issues that should be brought to light, not how much a stupid ingame vanity item is!!!

That's just the regular stuff. CCP used to get away with that. Now we know they have no real interest in actually fixing EVE but for their money grabbing schemes. CQ is there to accommodate MT (M is for macro), PI is there to accommodate Dust, which will be MT-based. Given that they're off to a great start (sarcastic), this just doesn't bode well.

Well i am not sure about game breaking stuff happening in EvE all I know is it works fine for me. Maybe few little bugs I seen mostly graphics atm but did not fully jumped in yet.
CQ works with out a flaw for me though I a pretty good system but that is a other discussion all together.
The point in that articles is the pricing related to RL money if you gonna buy them or not is also besides the point.

Such an amazing blunder by whoever's in charge. This game will die horribly if they don't wake up, and fast.

Originally by: Ayieka pretty sure it was the same way when tf2 released the mannconomy, and they're hardly hurting for players.
everyone just loves to jump on the 'we hate microtransactions' bandwagon whenever it shows up, a day later they're buying hats for their dude.
I only bought the spy pack. Everything else was just fluff.
This NeX thing is no different. The problem is that prices for the MannConomy was reasonable. $20 for a VERY LARGE PACK of items. In EVE, we're spending more than $20 on a single shirt. A shirt that we can't even wear in real life.
See the difference?

They'll be needing a timemachine with a range of about 12 months.
It's all done, they were told by many that they needed to focus on product used by existing customers, but the apparent strength and elegance of the idea blinded them.

I totally agree. Pay to play subscriptions means that revenue is directly tied to entertainment value and playability. It means the producer is directly engaged with the game, it's mechanics, and the reasons why people subscribe. The better the gameplay, the more amazing the experience, the higher the subscriptions, the higher the revenue.
Moving to the "buy useless stuff for $$$$" model just encourages the producer to make more useless stuff.
