Anyone that played the old EverQuest games remembers how Sony broke their expansions into smaller and smaller patches and sold them just as much, if not more, than their early expansions like Velious...

When SWG put in NGE/CU, they destroyed a great game. I vowed to never gain pay SOE another dime. I've lived up to that since 2005. I have no plans of ever letting up on that.
If CCP and SOE join in even the slightest way, I will never come back for any reason, ever.
That's my choice as a customer. End of story.

Given the train-wreck of public relations and business models witnessed this last week it wouldn't surprise me that this is true...
CCP Games is a Public company with CCP "employees" owning the majority of the stock - as for how that ownership breaks down into which individuals owns what portion... I don't know.
2 Subs were in the process of running out, but if this is true I'll tank the 2 alts and my main sub.

I'd decided to stick with Eve despite all that has happened as I still enjoy the game.
Years ago I boycotted all Sony products, and if they become a controlling partner Eve will be no different, and I'll quit before I get frustrated with Sony's attitude of adding more and more inconveniences and problems with their products in order to force every last penny they can from their customers.
Come to think of it that kinda sounds like charging real money for more ship fitting save slots.

This is an SOE tactic written all over guys, if it is true I wouldn't be at all surprised and as an SWG player I have boycotted all Sony brand goods. EVE will be among them if this rumour turns out to be true, since micro-transactions and cloning other games in a poor manner is what they love best.

How do you think equity is managed pre-IPO?
Publicly listed merely means the shares are publicly tradable. E.g., via a stock exchange. Non-public companies can, and very often do, issue shares. I've got a share certificate hanging on my wall now from a non-public company. Which I hope, someday, will be worth more than I paid.
