Cry me a river. Do you have any idea just how easy it is to pop a falcon, a scorpion, or any other ECM boat? ECM capability is exchanged for both tank AND dps. So if that jamming ship DOESN'T jam you, he's pretty much dead. The other day my Falcon got jumped by 2 frigates and 2 cruisers. I jammed all 4 of them and got away. But I have level V recon skill, and level V signal dispersion skill. So you could scream till you're blue in the face that this proves that ECM is overpowered - what I don't mention is I got away in structure... it was a very, very close thing. Had I NOT jammed even one of them, I would be dead. So much for my 200+M ship/fit and months of training. ECM ships are WEAK.
Now if you're complaining about people fitting ECM modules on regular ships, their jam strength must suck, meaning you should easily survive most jam cycles with ECCM. "But it gimps my fit!" Yeah, just as much as he gimped his by putting an ECM module in his mids that will be useless against you. If you don't meet enough people using ECM to justify changing your fit - why are you complaining at all? You cannot expect to win every single fight. |

A 100k rifter can take down a 100m Tornado with the same argument.
If you're going up against 4 ships, you should count yourself lucky you got out in structure, no matter what you're in. The fact that you did get away kind of does prove that they are overpowered. How many other ships would have gotten away?
Anything big enough to kill you solo wont be able to lock you fast even if you do miss a jam for you to be worries too much. I think it was 15 seconds for me to lock a Rook the other day. So I could probably get 1-2 volleys off at most even if he did miss a jam. |

Following that logic I better fill the lows of my myrmidon with tracking enchancers + warp core stabs and it's mids with ECCM and fill my drone bay with ECM drones and lastly my highs with neuts, then I'll be prepared for all recons and I can finally solo pvp.

If you're flying the falcon right then nothing should target you, the argument is that ECM boats are killing solo pvp, which is true a Falcon should by all means render most ships useless, completely, there's no real counter, yes you could fit ECCM but that gimps your fit, and most people would rather fight at their full capacity than gimp their fits in fear of one type of ship. I think the main reason that people hate falcons is that they really do make a ship useless, Arazu's can damp but you can simply move closer and force them to either fight close or warp off, or you can change targets and try to kill the tackle or take down another ship with you. Curses can neut you out, but you can still do dps with certain weapon types and drones, huggins can target paint but let's face it, it doesn't make THAT much difference to alot of ships. Falcons stop the player from engaging in combat, they can't do damage all they can do is try to burn away or hope that something goes wrong.
Honestly, I'd prefer to be blobbed with no hope of escaping than be jumped on by a falcon and another ship, because atleast I can do SOMETHING to alter the outcome. |

The argument that ECM ships have no tank is bad also... you could just fit some lol... it's no different from your demand that people should fit ECCM.
I think perhaps ecm should have a much shorter optimal range... and a much longer fall off, 20km optimal? 90 km fall off or whatever
The paper thin argument doesn't work when the falcon is also able to jam most ships reliably from 50-100 km where most ships (unless sniper ship) can touch them
If the jamming duration was put in line I think the range would be fine... and perhaps falcons should be changed a little also Christmas wish list https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=134275 Module activation delay! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1180934 |

What difference does that make? I know exactly what fitting tank to a falcon does... it Gimps mobility and total ecm capability (1600 mm plate is increases chance to be caught with pants down)
As I said I don't mind being in fleets with ecm, but that doesnt change how "gay" ecm is.
Ecm isn't overpowered, its simply imbalanced, specially compared to all other ewars Most of the people who are butt mad about others suggesting ecm being nerfed in any way obviously the same people fielding ecm :) not wanting to be nerfed
When I am calling for this change, I am unpartison as my fleets often has a falcon or 3 with us, it would a nerf to us too... but I rant because I care about the game also, I want the game to become better. If you're not jammed, shoot it. If you are, switch to FOF, rush at him with your 4km/s Tengu and shoot it until it warps out.

Not when it's actual mechanic that is overpowered/broken.

Except that it's not overpowered. A Falcon can jam one, maybe two ships of a given race, assuming that's one of the races the Falcon brought 2 jammers for. Bring 2 or 3 ships of the same race and the Falcon's gonna be running off field.
Add ECCM to that, and a Falcon's unlikely to keep one ship totally locked down.
Just because you have a hard time dealing with ECM Solo and don't realize that teams beat solo any day of the week, doesn't mean the mechanic is overpowered.

I like going out for a roam alone and losing a ship. I'm not into the whole large gang stuff, been there done that. So I like going out, knowing I'm going to die but try and get a kill or two before I do.
The last few times I have, I've been blobbed which is great and to be expected, but I can't get a shot off most of the time which is what hacks me off. A crappy T1 hull cruiser can sit many KM from me and stop me from firing a single shot. It's so dull and predictable now. There is no effective counter against it. I can put some ECCM on there, but that's about as useful as a condom machine in the Vatican, and wastes midslots so shield tanking is out of the question. I tried ECM drones last time out and put them straight on the ECM boat, but nada. Granted it was a T2 boat this time, but that shouldn't mean it's invulnerable.
So I could try a drone boat, but that leaves me with just a handful of subcaps I can fly and hope my drones pick the right target.
Maybe it's just me. I expect the ECM pilots think it's great that they can make a 300m Maelstrom die with a murmur in their crappy T1 hull.
I don't mind dying in a glorious fire with all guns blazing, but not being able to fire my guns makes me a sad Minmatar.

I get the point of ECM being fine where gangs and large fleets are involved...if there's more than 1v1 then it's easier to counter ECM. And yes--if you're going solo don't expect to come out ahead when you go against multiple targets. I've been on both sides and agree that in those situations it is justifiable. But, talking about ECM in gangs/fleets wasn't the OP's point here.
I like soloing...I expect to die lots and I do, just as well I win sometimes (Solo PvP is not dead, just difficult and limiting). When I choose to solo I do my best to pick my targets carefully. The other day I engaged in a 1v1 at a FW plex...Thrasher vs Thrasher. He had ECM and I didn't. I was dead in the water and I died. (Thrashers have no drones & 1 launcher w/ FoF won't do much) Kinda crappy. Seems to me in that scenario ECM is too powerful and as others have stated; maybe it would be better if it didn't have the ability to completely render a target inert. Perhaps making ECM mods specific to ECM boats...kinda like the CovOps Cloak can only be used on CovOps ships. It just seems wrong when a player with no skill or training can fit the one button win mod and nullify anyone else on the field.
