The socket wasnt closed, They simply put one of those child-proof covers on it so you dont hurt yourself. |

Looks like it's a Abovenet/MFN issue rather than one end user ISP. Seeing a crap ton of packet loss from their hop on from LINX.
I'm not on Virgin and I'm seeing the same issue from some other connections too that go via the same route/provider into CCP. |

It seems there have been numerous instances of cable theft and damage over the last week and it is heavily impacting some parts of BT's network. Looks like the ones to blame are the thieving so and so's stealing copper cabling.

For those of you affected by this, you may well want to keep an eye on this website and perhaps consider contacting BT directly. I wish you the best of luck getting your service restored properly and getting back in the game

Kinda begs the question why only EVE and why did it happen when I was piloting my mega in a fleet behind enemy lines. Unless the GMs love me very much I dont think I can get her back home alive |

It's not a BT issue, see my post above.
$dayjob connect via the same route to some places and we are seeing the same issue. |

I had this issue quite often, I traced it down to EVE Radio, not sure if that is your issue, but I have not had it since i stopped listening to EVE radio. |

 So its just not me i got socket closed last night (4/10/12) and its continued tonight (5/10/12) and yes i,m on BT infinity2, but hitting top speed but my entire net connection was sluggish.
just reinstalled win7 64 ultimate and new eve client @8.9 mbps and downloaded 4.9gb in about 10 minutes |

im having this issue now as well, but my router is flashing every time I drop as if iv lost total internet connection, and iv got no clue as to whats doing it :(
