Ra'Shyne Viper wrote:if you've gotten so bored with a game that you decide to destroy other peoples experience, you should probably quit. requesting people to talk to you in local seems like a sad request for attention, if youre whole code is based on AFK mining is bad for the game, youre just a dense person with a robust vocabulary. Like the code said, people have kids, wives, and other obligation to attend too, just because some loser request that i have to speak in local, now i gotta carry my laptop to the bathroom while i take a shtt just in-case i'm being beckoned? Bot mining is bad? how about bot ratting, i don't see no action taken against them, from neither side. this in no way is going to make someone a "better person" or improve the game. I recognize that people have kids, wives, and other obligations to attend to. When you're not playing EVE, you're generally free to do as you please. I won't object if you log off for awhile and spend some time with the family. Getting in the way of miners' enjoyment of their lives is the last thing I want to do.
That having been said, when you're online and mining in one of my asteroid belts or ice fields, your priorities need to change. You set the wife and kids aside and put me or my Agents at the top of your list. It's no different than how you listen to your boss when you're at work.
Finally, we are extremely accommodating of people's bathroom needs. We're people too, not monsters. We understand. Please see this post for more information on how to use the restroom without violating the Code. Thank you.

Same with minimng.
You stop gameplay, you fundamentally kill the game.
You are working towards the REAL EVE endgame......shutting it down. There are plenty of counters you keep pretending don't exist. They've been suggested in this very thread by CCP Falcon. CCP Falcon wrote:So, I just spoke to the GM Team regarding this to get some clarification:
Firstly, people who are bumped always have the right to petition. It is the right of any player who feels that they want to petition an issue to do so.
However, with regards to the rules in EVE Online our current view is:
Bumping is not considered harassment. Bumping is not considered griefing. Bumping is not against the rules.
It's actually been used for a long time to prevent warping as a rudimentary form of tackling when you don't have a point, or don't have sufficient disruption strength to keep someone pinned.
Along with that, the people that are doing this for the best part are in player corporations. If you don't like what they're doing, declare war on them so that you can punish them, or pay a merc corp to do so on your behalf if you don't want to fight.
There are plenty of options to counter this, if you use your imagination. Miners can also mine aligned and warp out of the belts when neutrals or hostiles in combat ships land and wait for the other playes to "play through" - just like golf. But golf isn't dying either. Welp, I highly disagree with CCP Falcon. Just because he works for CCP does not make his opinions the Word of God. You disrupt playstyles (forcing industrialists into perpetual wars that will not stop) you kill the gameplay. And folks will indeed leave. Have fun on your empty server.
Are you serious? People like you aren't needed on our servers. First off we aren't disrupting anyone's gameplay (if you wanna call AFK mining gameplay), we are creating emergant gameplay where smart miners are actually coming apart of the community for the first time.

Speaking for #2, AFK bot-aspirant miners who were unresponsive in local and not paying attention now just might.
Actually all the ones who bought mining permits pretty obviously do pay attention now, enough to ensure they are not bumped for being AFK despite their permits.

its my personal view that everything adds to EvE, even ideas like the "New Order". That ore that was mined was turned into minerals, that was sold, used to build something, then blown up.
That is the way I see it.
Even the AFK miners add something. Even if it is only a little ore.
Also thank you for acknowledging #1 Hat off to you sir! Mining without a perimit, till the day I die |

Ooooh, I see. We're fuelling all these structures (fun to shoot, right?) as part of player driven content, off the backs of the afk ice miners in Tolle and whereever, right?
If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have massive structure shooting ops and the like !

Value = Demand / Supply.
As supply goes up, value decreases unless demand goes up considerably.
Do you suspect the demand for ice products has tripled since the barge buffs?
How about what's happened to all the ice prices?
The formula works and AFK mining is driving down the value of mining as a profession.

Oh i know about bumbing being allowed and us still being able to petition it etc etc
Really I never did expect the devs to do something. Hell i wouldn't have even know the "New Order" existed if i hadn't seen it on the forums during class.
