Hilmar, you undermine Zulu when you let him post his non-content blog and then wait 13 days to "make up" with players.
The sad fact is that CCP has already lost all trust capital you once had. Your words mean nothing. As one of those who played this game for what is approaching to be a decade, I somehow still appreciated your devblog, but as you put it yourself: In the coming days and weeks, the details of this plan and what it means for you will be unveiled.
What will be said there, is what matters. And if you do happen to listen to us rabble crowd, then I got one advice for you - make sure neither you, nor your staff, write blogs when you can't follow it up with content within 24hours, preferably sub 12. Let alone two weeks. You could make it as simple as stating that you cannot release any information at a point, and preferably give a timeframe. Posting "watch this space", then insulting players in the replies, and leaving it two weeks before you (again) post a non-content blog is quite insulting, and disturbing. You somehow already improved on this, since Zulu's winter-expansion blog came three minutes after yours.
The best tip anyone could give you is to stop the poor communication. The lack of, and the slow one, which is the two versions you use, are both bad. Straight to the point, honest, open, is something you don't do.. but would do (very) well to utilize. Good luck. Hilmar, Zulu, Soundwave: We care about our hobby. Do you care about your jobs? |

thank you ccp &hilmar for restoring some of my faith in you.
i have always found it funny how you do not contact the community more before big announcements. just as some joke math, say you ccp invest some 38 hours per week into this game per employee. some people invest 50 or more and pay for it... to me that tells that a big part of the real know how is in the player base, especially when it comes to balancing game play issues!
on that vanity items thing. i would love to see things you can buy for your corp. say a possibility for corp members to put a small corp logo on their ships e.g. or similar things.
getting close to being able to proudly say <3 ccp again. |

It is a big man, that admits that he is wrong! It is a bigger man that takes steps to correct the wrong.
You've taken a step in the right direction. I am keen to see your actions in the immediate and long term future.
Good luck on your journey CCP. Know that we, the players, want you to succeed in making EVE better. |

I honestly loved reading this. Well said. I am looking forward to this renewed "EVE Online" focus.
Props go to Hilmar for the admission and sobering soul searching. And to the rest of the devs and CSM and community for having the patience to get to this point. |

These can't have been easy words to write Hilmar, and I'm suprised and impressed that this blog was so brutally honest. If you guys can follow through on the promise to work on those structural probems that contributed to the disconnect, then eve has a bright future indeed.
We're all going to be watching your actions with caution, but you've given me some more hope that CCP will avoid repeating some of those mistakes. |

I'm surprised given the level of input and involvement of the EVE community that such problems arise. There is still plenty of low-hanging fruit to pick, and dozens of helpful people like FNG, Azual, Chribba, The CSM (especially Saleen and Mittani) and many more giving CCP our valuable insights. Massively and Tentonhammer are also helping give a voice to the community as a whole.
As a new player, I'd strongly suggest reading their posts about the new-player experience and am happy that the unrest is being met with humility. |

In a previous post I wrote this
Vincent Athena wrote:"We watch what you do, not what you say"
If you really think that's true, and nothing CCP says has value, do you think they should say anything?
Its odd, as I see two lines of thought going on in the forums. One is the above, and the other is CCP does not communicate enough. But as soon as CCP does communicate, they get slapped down with the above statement.
So what do we want them to do?
My suggestion:
Say what you do. Do what you say. We watch both.
Then in CCP Hellmar's blog I read this:
"But enough talk from me. We all know that much quoted phrase, GÇ£ItGÇÖs not what you say, itGÇÖs what you do,GÇ¥ that will make the difference here. From now on, CCP will focus on doing what we say and saying what we do. That is the path to restoring trust and moving forward."
and I had to look under my chair in order to retrieve my jaw.
Thanks. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. |

EVE is a sandbox, In the MMO world, EVE should stand for community, for partnership between players and developers, for continual evolution, for the greatest social experiment in gaming history.
Give us the opportunity to work with you, give us the tools to reshape this gorgeous, vicious, intriguing, unparalleled universe and then, by God, watch what we do with them.

CCP Hellmar wrote: Removing ship spinning was a negligent oversight and a clear sign that we had fallen out of touch with our community.
The spin doctor who wrote that (does someone think those are Hilmar's words?) really think of the community as a bunch of morons. It's not an oversight when you are warned multiple times and defiantly reply that the feature is a goner and won't be back.
Then I'm almost hearing you scourging yourself, and that's music to my hears, now when start to see acts after words, I for one will resub my cancelled accounts. This game is so close yet so far to be really good, it's a shame that overstretching the company put us all in such a quagmire. |

Well, thats why I'm still playing after eight and a half years.
Its nice to see the leader of CCP rediscovering the art of doing things differently and learning to love the spaceships again!
Seriously, its a good blog and I'm happy the revolutionary spirit in New Eden this summer has had what looks to be a good outcome.
That said, I still hate NeX!
On the point of alternative revenue to make up for falling monthly subs model - the truth is staring you in the face still. PleX is microtransactions in a form that Eve can live with. RL rich players buy plex for for $ to convert to ISK via the market in order to buy flashy spaceships. The end.
There really isn't a need (or potential) for reinventing the wheel on this.
If you want to increase revenue via PleX invent isk sinks.

After a long period where you guys have said alot of dumb stuff, this is a step in the right direction. Well done. Now make sure the next steps are similarly positive.
One nit-pick, however:
Quote: The game needs new ships
EVE has nearly 250 different ships, the problem is that probably three quarters of these are either outright worthless or massively outclassed by other options. Balance the existing range first, then worry about whether its wise to add more.
(Not that I expect this to be read down on page 12 or 13, but thought I'd add it anyway) |

Huh. You actually correctly repeated more or less every point we were screaming at you during the now internet-famous Jita 4 protest. ...with a bit of self-criticism to boot. Nice work.
...Let me guess; you really DID have an appreciable dip in subscriptions, didn't you? We told you we would vote with our feet, didn't we?
I still have to ask - if you're aware that all these issues were and are so unpopular, why are they still up and implemented? You want to *really* impress us? Cut the captain's quarters until it's ready, bring down the vanity item prices, and maybe put in some new content that's not solely geared to people in 1000-man corps.
Overall, I endorse this somewhat less defensive and arrogant approach big-time. Maybe I'll even play some Eve? |

Before i came to EVE i had played star wars galaxies for 2 years. Sony Online Entertainment obviously had lost the relationship with their fan base & community and instead of trying to fix it, they decided to ignore it and opted for the big numbers of WoW by attracting new customers with a completed revamp called New Game Experience, converting a good sandbox into a mediocre theme park game. Their arrogance peaked, when they started marketing and pre-selling game features, which were to be removed with the revamp 2 month later. This made me cancel all my accounts and compel SOE to refund the pre-ordered expansions. The final impetus to my decision were letters to the community written by John Smedley, CEO of SOE, where he tryed to justifiy their business decision of revamping the game towards NGE, but only proved that he does not have the slightes clue of game and its community. Even today - 5 years after - i am in anger with Sony and try to avoid to purchase Sony products ... any products, not just computer games .....
Fortunately, the reminiscence of this desaster i had with EVE for the last 6-12 month has ended as of today. I acknowledge, that CCP is aware of having temporarily lost their Mojo and has initiated or already implemented steps to regain it.
looking forward to see these changes enter the game !
