The new font system has a lot of potential, just needs some serious tweaking. The voice is horrible, I agree - but probably not final either. I hope they make it sound similar to the current voice on TQ, just more of it.

Okay. I have had a play around with the new patch and I have come up with this.
I would also like to say that these changes are the first ones I have ever truly disliked so please don't write me off as a serial complainer. I am writing this because I feel they will truly change the character of EVE.
Please do not change EVE to this monster
FONT
The old font was superb and appropriate to eve, the new font is so generic and hints of comic sans which is, imo a childish font, not what eve is about at all.
CHAT INTERFACE
Staying with the chat theme. The chat system was previously perfect, with the exception of you not being able to choose any text sizes to view ALL text from your side. Adding formatting abilities to the text client is an awful idea (imo), which will make reading eve a pain for everyone involved. Reading size 36 magenta font in trade channel is not my idea of fun. Especially when placed next to size 8 lime green or cyan.
Illustrating my point
Having everyone use the same formatting was easy to read, understand and kept the professionalism and dignity of eve alive. This new system spits on that dignity and that is a truly upsetting thing.
VOICE OVER
If you do change the voice over, please let us choose between the new and old one. I love the old voice over, it sounded so integrated, so perfect. It was someone talking to you in the pod. This new one is grating, commanding and sounds so plastered over that it breaks the immersion. While I understand it probably isn't the final voice it is horrible as it is and you will have to make it pretty spectacular to make me convert.
I hope I have formulated this is a clear and concise arguement, but if you need clarity on anything I will be happy to oblige.

i mostly play w/o sound already but if they keep that voice i'll forbid myself to ever turn sound on again
the chat... dont allow the kiddys and attention *****s to spam other ppls screen with horrible colored big text
or introduce a way to close (not minimize) every chan so i can get rid of that too as i'll do with the voice
or change everything in eve with the same quality and sense as u did the chat&voice and i dont need to bother openen eve anymore
keep old voice, keep old chat, maybe give option to change your display style but nothing more
keep the old font pls all looks horrible, i dont say that because i'm not used to it, it just looks like ****

gotta agree on this one ditch the voice for the old one - keep the standard white fonts and text for the chat window.

Indeed, ditch the custom fontcolors and sizes in the chat, it will only annoy others cus people keep writing in 36pnt bright pink lines, just to get attention.
Also, a lot of people chose their own GUI colors, and some text-colors are unreadable then, thus to be able to read all the chat-messages, you need to constantly change your background color all day long 
I like the readability of the new font tho. The old font was sometimes hard to read on high resolutions.

New voice isn't all that bad but I would also like the option to switch between the old and new voice.

Please stop messing around/tweaking things that don't need to be changed (and you know you're just opening the door to idiots pretending to be GMs, attention *****s using multicoloured text to annoy the rest of us etc).
That said, good work on the drone size/bay reduction. Should make them easier to claim as loot now.

I agree. There was nothing wrong with the old font at all.
The new voice is ok but the artificial one fitted better into the eve universe IMO.
Why are you developing such things when tere is so much more important things.
Why do you f*** around with stuff that ain't broken?

What resolution and settings are you running then, cus at 1600x1200 the old font is hard to read at times ,especially inspace mouseover text, text on the map and sometimes text in the chat. Im not sure if I really like the new font tho. The old one seemed to "fit better" in the game, but I still like the current one for readability :)

OK - heres the way i see it -
people should be able to chane the colour sceme of there chat and chanels - BUT this should be client side not server side - we dont need to have people smaping off in multi coloured text - this game isent a kiddies game we dont need to have every 1 writeing in rainbow - if thats the market that CCP wants to attract then there gona get a real problem with all the grown up people with credit cards forgetting to play any more
- as for the new voice - i play with the sound off because of the stupied sensor booster noise and the armour and hull repair noise - i dont want to sit at a gate camping for 2 hours listening to a woop woop woop noise -- ive had it off since that sound bug thing where u cant change the volume - wich as far as i can see on these moduals u get 3 settings - REAL LOUDreal quite& off
SO PLEASE keep the game the way it is
stop adding new content thats totaly pointless and dosent inhance the game play -
we want - new guns - new ships - and new people to kill

bring old fonts back, make any font or color changes client side. dont we-write the game code just for a few characters that are seldom used. Figure out how to add them to the existing set. anything is better than these stupid boxes everywhere.
Ill be patient and believe this is only the first step in a series to make it better.

My thoughts:
Don't change font or voice globally.
Let the client adjust his font however he wants, but DO NOT let font or color tags be used in chat channels to change how others see your chat. That would be bad, mmmkay?
As for the voice, well, don't much care as I turn sound off or my system lags all to hell. If you change it, I would allow the client to opt whether they want the old voice or the new voice or whatever. I see no reason to be changing it at all, though it would be fun I suppose to have a few choices.

I don't like the new voice or fonts.
I really don't understand why dev time was put into the font stuff but i do hope there was a good reason.
Other then that, seems like a total waste of time to me.

the most annying part of the new voice is the "we" and "our"
"we dont have enougth power" could easaly be "not enougth power"
and "our docking reqest has been accepted" could just be "docking"

i will sign this as I HATE thoes new voices and new text etc, what is this is eve turnning in to another YAHOO Clinet? lol BUT PLEASE im searus PLWEASE revert it back to the old voices and text.

well not alot of people has the resulution at that my resulution is at 1280x1024 and u can read old text VERY VERY, but well the new text JUST HAS GOT TO GO pearid.!

And there are more bugs in this patch than I have ever seen on the Test Server...not sure what's going on

mmmm i think its early stages for the patch changes - expect a lot of bugs at this stage but jump on anyway its all data and feedback for the devs - i must say the new fonts are not a good idea (ie colour etc) and the voice is a bit mmm ditch it

I agree, both text and the voice are horrible.
On another note, i had the music down and the volume high so i could have a good lsiten to the new voice, and I just realised that theres singing in the background in the fight club station

I don't like the idea of not being able to control what comes into the chat channels.
While colours may be fun I donĘt see the point of having huge text on your display.
I already have enough problems trying to ready the last 5 minutes of a conversation that I have missed, if one word will take up the space of several lines I can only see this getting worse.
If this change is going into effect then at least give us the option to turn it off. People will abuse this.

I really like the new female voice. The new fonts are horrible, but yeah the voice is cool. Then again probably 90% of the people that don't like it are from the uk.
