DB Preacher	Posted - 2005.06.29 12:44:00 - [4] I got my basic medic medals and played for a bit but goddamn it's hard to get onto a ranked server and the pings sux for us EU peeps on most of them. I wish there was a decent way you could join up with your buddies online though... like a squad based chatroom before you join a map. Sounds like a power surge caused by excess dust in your pc. Probably overheated your gfx card causing the bsod and a power surge which affected your tv. The ranked servers are always full and the only time you get on one is when everyone has disconnected from it due to lag! It's getting kinda dull playing with strangers too and the tactic of going prone as soon as you're fired on is getting a bit dull, to say the least. Are there such things as headshots in BF2? TekRa	Posted - 2005.06.30 21:00:00 - [28] been playin bf2 for about a week now, and really enjoy the team work on the unranked server, had my first go on a ranked, EA UK 16 player.... totally crap. the teams were just stacked for 4 maps, 3 rounds each. I stayed on in the hope someone would do something, no such luck. the server was pretty stable and hardly lagged at all, we had some half decent team work going, but spawning and being raped is a tad lame to say the least. I really hope the other ranked servers don't play like this, uber stacking and no chance for anyone else. :(

I installed it successfully and such, installed the DirectX version included on the cd and also the Nvidea drivers located on the cd. After having done that, I start up the game, and the screen flickers for a couple of seconds (quite normal when the screen adjusts to the game's graphics or such), but the bad thing happens then. I get thrown out to windows desktop without any errormessage or anything. I have no idea why, and it's quite frustrating as I want to play the game and have just paid for it. Any ideas?

The Clash	Posted - 2005.07.10 10:18:00 - [68] its great tactic . we always work as a team and move like one so once someone died teh squadleader takes cover and wait for us to respawn and continue our quest or when our leader dies someoen offers himself to return teh favor :) TS or some sort comms is needed tho to coordinate it well tbh . and believe me i die a lot , some games i just respawn and die instantly like 5-7 times in a row im not the luckiest man on earth when it comes to BF 2 as for teamwork it rocks , we dont always get to be the top dudes but if your team has lost its Commander toys dont bother askinh how ? wtf ? who ? when ehh .? you dont get lotsa points etc but it makes gameplay so much better roaming around as a team with set goals and it helps teh overal team to win , things liek that can tip teh balance when done right _________________ Re-activated ... I wish I unlocked the G36 or L85 instead, since I play specops and medic far more than assault (except now I play assault almost constantly so I hone up my g3 skills).

When I want to play as part of a squad of mates we need to go to a server without auto balance to get on the same side. Problem is when auto balance isnt on it seems to be most people choose the US side and the MEC/China end up fighting odds of 2 to 1 most times. I get Network connection problems with alot of servers although this is happening less these days. When flying getting tk'd by morons on my own team with other aircraft or aa and no brains. No way to join a sever as an already formed squad or even see if your squad mates are around. No favourites list for servers The game itself is great and there's nothing more fun than setting satchel booby traps on bridges, choke points and around the flags I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it...

First off autobalance is turned off because the clan members (of any clan) or friends that want to play on the same squad are invariably 'balanced' to the other team, BF2 doesn't balance non squad members first, it is indiscriminate and ruins the game for those that want to play together. People with negative scores, people with high pings, people that aren't in squads, finally people with leet names. Understand it from our point of you, we need to be able to play as a group so Autobalance is out of the question. We have to get our own members on the server, if you suffer because of that then I'm sorry but that's just the way it is seeing as we are the ones paying for the server.

Right, as clash said we have had an enormous server upgrade on our 64 player box. The lag is now absolutely non existent as the average cpu load has dropped from 90% to less than 60% so lots of head room. I'll be turning the VOIP back on with the next restart. I love using the pistol though. It's got a decent rate of fire and you can move fast while remaining reasonably accurate. I usually use it if I see an enemy reloading and just rush it. Yeah, but its still a big choice because its gonna be so LONG until I get Sergeant. In the end I went with the G3. Its a good gun in single shot mode and in auto it drops enemys fast. I still like my PKM though.

Its really a full time job and even though I was sitting in base the whole time I couldnt really keep up with giving all the squads orders, so I really only gave generic attack orders. You'll probably get more kills from laying low on the ground Good advice, also aim above the head a touch and if a bunch of people or an apc look in your direction, don't move and stop firing. They'll give up 9 times out of 10. I was sniping today and got a bit overexcited they kept trying to get me and I was headshotting them every time. It was like the killing fields. Fixed my computer today so it finally stopped stuttering, yesterday was getting about 10 points per round. Today I was getting 40 or 50. Bit of a difference :)

If you were on the same level and at extreme distance then you could probably land a headshot about 80% of the time but doing it like that where you have to work out the angle as well it becomes almost impossible to do. Probably the furthest I can reliably do them on Gulf of Oman is from the hillside at the bottom of the runway on to the spawn by the Transport Heli at the top. That is easily doable.

And i have also killed 4 or 5 dudes with a salvo of missiles (i had no copilot) on a "train" of vehicles, 2 apcs and 1 tank This demo has been a lot of fun, im thinking about buying the game lol!

On strike at karkand, for instance, I killed 3 snipers at once with my trusty L85 Someone did an actual comparison of all the guns to their unlocks, the L85 is sort of average except that it has that scope. I think it makes all the difference for me. Lots of people say it sucks up close too, but it works just fine for me. I guess I like long range firefights. BTW, playing as medic I'd get maybe 1:1 K/D ratio with the standards. With the L85 I completely wipe the floor, except for when I get raped by an m203/tank/blackhawk.

The other snipers are great for medium range but I still think the M24 is the best (I prefer to get a headshot before they start to panick and run arround like chickens).

They have a much higher arc of fire so you can hit stuff in more directions, and they do assloads of damage. Plus you dont even need to aim, you just fire in a general direction. Its a freaking death cannon. Can't wait till they stop the chopper whoring. Best use for the MEC and PLA transports imo is slapping c4 to the front and ramming full rapehawks. Thats what I call them now btw. Oh yeah... is anyone else celebrating like hell that they are going to redo the punish system? Lets hope they get it right. Maybe then I'll play engineer/commander more...

You can snipe with it even though its a carbine, its got great ROF, unmatched accuracy and its a specops gun, and specops are awesome anyway. Although the other 3 specops guns are pretty good already so its not that much of an upgrade. Since you've already got that i'll give you my opinions of the others. M95 Barrett: Unless you LOVE sniping, you shouldn't get it. Its basically like an M24 except slightly stronger, slightly less accurate and can shoot through aircraft glass. G3: In my opinion, this gun is pretty crap. At short range you will run out of ammo real quick, and there is no grenade launcher for noobing people. Not only does the gun only hold 20 rounds you also get less spare magazines. At long range, the recoil of this thing makes you cry along with the iron sights. Its decent at medium ranges though, as it hits hard. I would only reccomend this if you only play assault, and only play on maps like Mashtuur and Karkand - and even then, the AK-101 is just as good, if not better. PKM: This thing hits like a freight train. Its much better than the other 3 LMGs, since you can actually hit stuff beyond 10 feet. It fires slower, which is good because the recoil is very manageable, while still having awesome damage. If properly used this thing will mow down squads with ease. This one gets my stamp of approval. Jackhammer: Its awesome up close, but it takes a while to reload and you need to make sure you don't run out of shells mid fight. Nonetheless, its the engineers gun, and engineers at the moment suck because you will always get some friendly APC filled with 5 noobs that runs over your mine and they all punish you. L85: Lots of people hate this gun, others wear by it. I'm one of the latter. Basically, this gun has lots of advantages and lots of disadvantages. I'll start with the disadvantages which you already know. Its got high recoil, it doesnt do that much damage (more than an M16 though), and its got a little more aim deviation. Unless you're really good with it you will not win most fights up close. However, this thing features an AMAZING scope. The L85 should always be switched to semi auto except when you may be exposed to a close-range fight. When you are using the scope plus semi auto... you will absolutely dominate at medium to long ranges. This one gets my stamp of approval too, especially as its the medics gun. Medics are real fun to play, can heal themselves and teamates too. With the L85, you become a sniper that can heal himself and reasonably fight at close ranges. DAO-12: Ok, this one I'm not so sure about. In almost everyones eyes this thing is an amazing upgrade over the SMG's that AT comes with standard, and it probably is. It does great damage, you can reload one shell at a time so you never waste ammo, and it comes with the AT rocket so you can kill vehicles too. However, you are seriously lacking in long range fights. The AT rocket won't hit infantry unless its a noob. I won't give this a positive or negative stamp, because I'm not really sure about it. I do OK with the SMGs personally. Not knowing your playstyle except that you suck with the L85, I'd say go for the PKM. Although thinking about it the DAO-12 might be a decent choice too - you have the G36 which is good at long-medium range, the DAO-12 might be a good choice so you can have a good close-range gun too. But, the PKM is also good up close. Besides, the DAO-12 is ugly... if they make it so engineers aren't crippled by punishments in the 1.03 patch, I'd suggest the jackhammer.

That way you're guaranteed to get the kills, otherwise it will occasionally count it as them killing you and them suiciding.

You know if you get on top of the blackhawk, the other faction's choppers are bigger and will kill the blackhawk before it dies. So basically you don't even have to die killing it.

On all servers mostly its only me defending that point. Sometimes I manage like today I got 10 kills and 0 deaths all from just defending that point. Then next time the USMC manage to get their tank through and I lose and when that point gets capped its all over for MEC. I hate it.

Its quite easy, and if your noob, you can click again during the missile flight to steer (is taht the correct word) the missile. Now, the hard way, this is something only lucky people like me or uber pros can do, which is flying your Fighter Bomber straight into the Blackhawk, and let your Co-pilot fire the anti-tank missile in a way that it hits teh Blackhawk. Joshua Calvert	Posted - 2005.08.31 20:53:00 - [309] Well, EA/Dice have pretty much admitted that certain usage of Blackhawks is a version of stat-padding because they're going to fix it in the next patch (if it ever bloody arrives!). Some of you should check out the CANDYS Ranked Server - some of those guys are pure tactic geniuses. The best one they used was on the Strike at Karkand map. They line up the truck with the Vodnik on the roof on the first bank at the junction right at the front of the apartment blocks (if you're coming from the US of A spawn point) so that the Vodnik can aim down to the corner aswell as along the alley behind that first building - it's practically impossible to get to without dying painfully to the Vodnik fire. Only an air strike gets it done without lots of kills. LEEEEERRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
