Ships USED to catch fire and burn for a while before they blew up, you took that graphic out, now they just explode.
There USED to be a graphic for the webifier, now there's nothing.
There USED to be greenhouses in the stations, now there's just an opaque window.
There are others but I don't feel like making a laundry list.
It seems, that special effects in general are just getting trimmed slowly over time.
Most of this stuff could be handled on the client as graphics options built into the game. The graphics options made available to the player are weak at best. You added LOD because you raped the graphics otherwise in the last patch. Add some other player options in the game control panel for the player to select. It's weak. Kudo's for trying to make the game run faster for low end machines and Kudo's for the LOD option in the control panel, but it was not really an option, because the game looked like **** otherwise. Add some other options, please.
It would seem that you are slowly reducing this once beautiful game, to icons. I know that people ***** about lag, but the fact of the matter is, your minimum spec requirements to run this game are off and too low. You know this. It seems your reducing this game to the lowest common denominator:
Minimal hardware: CPU: PIII - 450 MHZ or higher RAM Memory: 128MB (256MB for 2000/XP) Hard Drive Capacity: 1 GB Connection: 56k modem or faster
you call that a solution? And some people ***** because they lag? Well on a sytem like that, no ****. If you want people to be able to play on these 10 year old systems and you want people with state of the art PC's to be able to enjoy the game, your going to have to give the PLAYER MORE OPTIONS of setting the game up.
If Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E isn't enough to reduce lag and stuttering on older machines, raise the minimum specs.
Taking content out of the game to address this issue is the lazy way out, and ruins it for those people that are able to run Eve in all it's glory.

No you need to fix your graphics. Stations still have greenhouses, and ships still catch fire. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

There was also a good reason for removing the webber effect (don't recall what) and it is supposed to be put back in.
The only legitamate graphics complaint is the textures on the resized stations and I haven't even noticed a problem with that. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

Edited by: Guardian Alpha on 28/07/2005 19:26:23 The ships do still catch fire, but only once in a while, and jumping between systems sometimes turns it off completely. Same for ship explosions.
Lately, sometimes things don't explode.. they just dissapear.
This is with a top notch PC/lap top as well, so it isn't computer error. A lot of graphics are going in and out and in and back out (and not LOD).
Quote: There was also a good reason for removing the webber effect (don't recall what) and it is supposed to be put back in.
Because there was a bug on Sisi that made the web graphical effect not only stack over and over on top of it self, but it NEVER went away. ------------

Na, they nerfed it, and ships very very rarely catch fire. The overall intent of my post is right on target, CCP is slowly taking content out of the game along with graphics nerfs. Quit being a fanboy. |

Try clicking the 'Use LOD' option on/off in the graphics options.
Also, I've got a film of a Kestrel smoking (with LOD on), so don't tell porky pies

Ships still ALWAYS catch fire, everything explodes. The only thing removed was the webifier animation thing.
Good hardware != good performance. You need good settings and drivers and stuff to match.

Shut up and go back to the WoW boards. Calling someone a 'fanboy' simply because they disagree with you is idiotic.

This is all interesting but I think the real questions are: is there a way to turn the webber effect back on? Is there a possibility for CCP implementing a checkbox in our settings window in the following patch (or perhaps hotfix, but maybe that's a bit too optimistic)? When?
This effect is one of the things that are key to fast and efficient gameplay, as seeing the effect will immediately confirm webification.
Coming up next: can bees think? A new study indicates that no, they cannot. |

Edited by: Blind Man on 28/07/2005 23:47:27 Also something I'm noticing is that the ship propulsion flares that fire from the back of your ship (the short ones not the long streams) only show up when you double click in space for some reson.
Edit: It would be really nice to have an option to turn webbing effects back on too (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

afaik from the test server build anyways the webber effect was removed due to it sticking on targeted ships after being deactivated, think the only way to rid of it was a session change or relog

Edited by: Daniel Jackson on 28/07/2005 23:54:52 i think ccp are boared with the game and they dont have the brains to make it any funner, so they are sloly nurfing things so to slowly make people quit the game.
so the people will feel that the they quited the game cause it got sucky, insted of ccp saying "well were boared of this and we have to close all the servers for good so no more eve" and then people will get soo ****ed off and also start getting loyers etc at them.

How do you manage to login to post? If CCP nerfed you I would pay them a $100.

There always seemed to be something wrong with the webifier effect. Sometimes it was there, sometimes not. For months, the graphical effects of a webber were 'contagious' (every ship close by also appeared webbed), or the effect just stuck on you even if you were no longer webbed.
Frankly, I find the effect rather annoying now. Not sad to see it go. |

The graphics are too beautiful so it deserves to be nerfed. In fact you don't deserve any fun or happiness at all, as we are all going to nerf that too. We have found the ultimate way to force people to 0.0 space. Nerf the graphics and then match it to risk vs. reward. You will get better graphics as you move down to riskier space. We will also add new skills which upon mastery will improve graphics, such as Graphics Enhancement, Super High Polygonal Modeling, and Advanced Texture Rendering. We will also add expensive implants that improve graphics such as Illusionary Optical Augmentation. These will be given out as agent rewards, or found in the end of deadspace complexes and at the loot of commander rats.
Yeah we rule :)
