Chribba Garmon Shadoo The Mittani Kill2
Of those I'd expect Chribba to be on pretty much everyone's list. Garmon for his videos, for his trolls and for his alliance tournament victories. Shadoo for alliance tournament commentary, legendary rage and for being so prominent in EVE politics. The Mittani for many things but primarily for the Mittani Dot Com. Kill2 for his videos, for his alliance tournament commentary and for his community activism.

Still not convinced this is market discussions material though.

Also, trust can be a product of fame for some people. But it really depends what you are famous for. From my list there is only one name that the common man would trust, even though most of the list are men of honor. |

I agree that they have risen because off there in game activity. But most "famous" people first got there name out on the forums and used the forums to kickstart there business ventures Don't trust me im a trader |

From the perspective of the economy, and from the top of my head, with tongue in cheek, I would like to name these (active) influences: Bad Bobby - influence diminished, but reverbratingly tangible Akita K - may come out of hiding any minute to wreck (and predict) financial mayhem VV - penetrating the outer (and inner) reaches of space economy, whether you like it or not Chribba - rumored to control the Veldspar market, may influence Eve economy at whim in other ways (but unlikely to) Grendell - Eve economy may crash the day he gets run over by a bus (holds 38% of all eve assets) Yih - I just wanted to say that Happiness is a warm gun. |

To answer OP ,
Chribba and molle , these two where the first to make their name a ''brand'' .

But bringing a touch of reality and economic relevance to this thread, Grendell is extremely important. A lot of deals simply would not happen without Grendell and the other top-flight 3rd parties. Deliberately or by default, the trusted third party is an essential part of the EVE economy that bridge the gaps in CCP provided functionality.

If you want a list of blasts from the past then we'd have to roll out Hippoking, Dark Shikari, Ricdic... etc etc

Also, Istvaan Shogaatsu.
Although really his name is nowhere near as famous as his corp, possibly because nobody can pronounce or spell it. But when mentioned among veterans, it's normally followed by a chorus of "I started playing EVE because of him". I certainly re-subbed and had my second go at EVE because of him and have never left since. |

I'd like to ask the people on these lists what they feel their greatest achievement in EVE was.
I suspect that in many cases the answer will not be the thing they are famous for. |

I have many personal achievements that I've managed to stumble into over my many years in EVE. I'd probably only be able to narrow that list down to two things, it would be:
1) This first would probably be, going from being a CEO of m0o, to making a full 180 and becoming a well known trusted carebear. m0o a very long time ago was an infamous pirate corp, known for being untrustworthy griefers. It was never the plan, I simply just got jaded with pvp, and needed a change.
Today I enjoy both sides of eve. But I still can't help but laugh at how my time in eve took me from one end of the spectrum to the complete other end of the spectrum.
2) The second would have to be, that I learned how to be a good leader. I seemed to always find myself in a leading role, but it took a long time before I actually became a good leader.
I had a lot of other small achievements from goals that I've set for myself, such as isk goals, ship goals, etc. But they didn't seem as significant to me.
EDIT: Random remark: Being CEO of m0o at the time gave me some of my best and worst times in EVE.
