What a fantastic way to portray EvE, this needs to be released to the mass media. After that CCP would break the 20000 player barrier no problem.
Btw, on the subject of the race intros, the Gallente girl looks like my g/f any chance you guys at CCP could sort her out some royalties (watch it!!).

Edited by: Sarkos on 17/09/2005 11:22:26 OMG! That video was AWESOME!
Now, get it put on the CD for the American PC Gamer, and the US market will flood you with subscriptions. I as one of the few, and proud US players need help on second shift. :)

Nice videos guys! But why only Amarr and Gallente intros? Unless I'm blind and missed the Caldari and Minmatar ones... |

Amazing video and great music! Can we have music like that in the game?

dude! that... i... it... dude!

im looking around fileshack.com and seeing 'game videos' for every crap game every made, and NOTHING from eve, let alone this masterwork. Get it sorted!
...dag, i'm inundated by Brits too.
Seriously, unless Blizzard is paying people to not host other mmog's movies i don't understand why this isn't Everywhere. Hell, i'm a subscriber to fileshack (yeah for 7 bucks a month i'm a lazy impatient sod, but every time i need some 50-200mb patch i'm more than glad i got it...), i'll start bugging them myself why they don't have anything.

I just posted about how this trailer, great as it is, is misrepresenting Eve gameplay. And I mean in the way that it's claiming to be actual gameplay, as though it were what the player would experience, when it's actually not at all, since it's had all sorts of special effects and modifications done to it. It's confusing... may confuse new customers and I don't think that's a great idea... just a minor issue really but it irks me somewhat. I mean I'm sure you all know what it's like when you see a trailer for a film thinking "wow that looks amazing" and then going to watch it only to find that it's nowhere near as good as it looked in the trailer. Especially a trailer is supposed to be an unedited, fair demonstration and representation of the actual product.
Then I get accused of looking for stuff to pick on, and just generally being a ***** whose only goal is to whine. So you know what forget it, I'm not going to bother with this anymore. Hooray for the Eve community, bunch of overdefensive oversupportive sour icebergs. I mean really, oh wah wah someone is making a comment about the beloved CCP let's lynch him. So childish, and it's a wonder any suggestions ever get through at all when any criticism get's you dogpiled by a bunch of ignorant thugs who don't even properly understand what you're trying to put accross, but don't care anyway because they've got nothing better to do than grief people who're just trying to help.
The video is great, I love it. I've watched it god knows how many times now. Shame the clientele of the forums aren't as jawdroppingly awesome though. It's a wonder that there are even a few decent people here given the number of exasperating morons chasing off anyone bold enough to share their opinions and suggestions.
Good luck to you Eve community. And thank freaking god you're not as annoying in game.

Edited by: Lanish on 18/09/2005 17:40:51 If / WHEN this makes it to TV in various countries I envy the people that will experience EVE for the first time by catching that Video.
Actually you might have to put a warning at the start to make sure no one is holding a hot cup of anything, (Verone's roasting walnuts), and sitting comfortably with the sound UP.
Superb..

The video and music are really good. They are not something that should be sent off to magazines or shown in mass media. Why? Because the video is nothing more than a bunch of cool looking images thrown together. In order for something to really work on those who don't play Eve, everything has to be explained. Things that would make no sense to someone not fimilar to Eve: 1) The ships and thier names in the middle of the video. 2) They wouldn't understand the races at the end were indeed the races of Eve. 3) The moving of game windows at the end mean nothing.
I know people will flame me to death for this. If you just step back and view the video objectivly instead of as a Eve player it will become clear that while the video is great to an Eve player, it wouldn't have the same effect at the non eve game player.

There are some special camera options that you don't normally have access to. Iirc, they were a little experimental and allow you to confuse the hell out of yourself if you don't know what you're doing, which is why they weren't made available.
I believe Verone, Seleene, Leafo, and a few others would like access to these camera controls. *nod*
T20 mentioned this a while back and that it was a possibility. I need to get off my lazy ass and finish up one of the three different vids I've started in Premiere... -

Edited by: Lanish on 19/09/2005 09:13:35 Very True with your points there Meer.
I see alot of folks not knowing what the hell they are looking at, but I'm confident that this would not deter alot of other people from wanting to investigate further.
The music, graphics and presentation alone,(aside from actual content), would cause enough folks to at least give it a go. The obvious fact from that Vid that there was alot of content would have intrigued me too.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
This is another point that I agree with. It's an awesome video for the players of Eve and Eve fans. It's not a video that would be good for new prospective players.

How do I DL this without it trying to play? I mean the rightclick save as is saving the .asp page not the file. Otherwise stupid WMP tries to play it as it's DLing as with 118meg over half a broadband line this is screwing up a lot. I could do it before but not now... What am I missing? |

Yesterday I showed this video to a good friend of mine, who not only is a television producer AND edits for a LIVING, he is completely clueless when it comes to the MMO genre, and that includes EVE.
HE WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY.
He asked first if this was a professional commercial for the game. I explained that it was 'semi-pro' as the creator was assisted by CCP with camera 'unlocks' to get a few shots, but also explained that the creator is a gamer who plays. His only technical question was this: "Does it really look that good in game?", to which I replied, "other than a few camera pan moves which are locked out due to potential player confusion, the graphics are in-game." He whistled.
No confusion, no "huh?", just amazement.
Showed him a couple others...the Seleene recruiting vid got thumbs up........but Meridius's Vanguard was the two thumbs up enthusiastically from an editing perspective. ---so Meridius, you have a real hollywood editor pattin' you on the back. ;)
