After getting afforementioned error message, the client (not the launcher, despite exactly that being it's job) told me that there is a new patch and offered to install it. The client closed itself and called the patcher, which downloaded some stuff and then errored out as well, proposing I should try the repair tool. So I did, and now when I start eve, I get told, that the "content server" is not available but I may start eve anyway. (gee, thanks)
Eve works now, but the launcher doesn't even pop up. So, almost working as intended, I guess? |

Fake edit:
The "launcher" doesn't download todays patch and the "play" button stays greyed out. It throws an error instead. I can still start Eve via ExeFile.exe, but I cannot connect. (wrong protocol)
Exactly the same issue here, but running on Windows 7.
Great job!

Okay, long-time Mac user, first-time Win8 Singularity installer here!
I followed the copy-and-paste-and-rename instructions for the Singularity client; double-clicked the shortcut, and for one brief shining moment saw the SiSi launcher -- only to have it then be replaced by a another launcher-esque window saying there had been an error.
I guess there's a new launcher that I need to use for SiSi, yes? And is that the one that is linked in the first post of this thread? Is there anything else I should know -- gotchas, weirdnesses, etc? |

We're still looking into issues with the Mac version of the new launcher, so at the moment the mac is still on version 1.32 and you don't need a new launcher to connect to Sisi with your Mac. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Since there were no technical concerns left with the Windows version of the new launcher, then yes, we did roll it out. That at the same time an external problem with our web servers pops up is a really bad coincidence, but that could have happened everywhere.
We've noted the concerns that people have about how it changes the way one has to do multi-boxing stuff and we are working on improvements on this. With that regard, though, let it be said that with all the various ways in which people are multi-boxing then it's near impossible to not annoy some parts of our userbase which do this. We do not really like that either and are sorry about this, but it's a situation that we have kind of forced on ourselves by never having done proper support for multi-boxing, and adding proper support now is going to cause some pain to you and us. you say there is no technical issues. I think you will find a 17 page blog response page that says other wise.
your forcing something that most people don't want and or don't like on them and have buried you head into the sand regarding there replies you say you havnt supported multi boxers. well the blog replies from ccp devs back in march 2012 indicated that there were considerations being place into the launcher to take into account multi boxers. you just removed all of them.
I stand by my comments, this new improved launcher is in fact far form improved, it currently is many steps back in functionality and infact shouldnt have been released in this broken (see blog replies) state. OMG when can i get a pic here

Agreed. As it stands, the only thing that this new launcher actually adds is support for your single sign-on idea. Everything else is at least a step back from what we had at some point in the past. |

after rereading this a few times it dawned on me. why the hell are you not asking us multi boxers how we run our set ups, what works best for us and then working on a solution rather than thrusting crap on us that wont work and will in fact just alienate us?
we documented a lot of these things when the launcher thing was rolled out back last march, you must have (im really hoping you didn't fail so badly as to not have) checked there to see what we were using and how, especially as you didn't ask us directly when it was time for you to butcher it for this roll out OMG when can i get a pic here

Here's some feedback - absolutely fcuking horrendous!
I multibox and this new launcher is about to make my life a *lot* more painful.
What exactly is it giving us, the paying customers, over the current method of logging in?
We need to be able to launch multiple copies of Eve, with the account name remembered, and log them in easily - not this backward step of logging into a launcher and firing up a single copy, then backing out and doing it again!
Did anyone on your team sit down and try using the new system with multiple accounts??!? |

I call BS on the "web servers" was the cause of the issue. Since all of us where clearly able to connect to your forums, and dodge the launcher and connect to Eve, or in some cases, never lose connection to Eve because we were logged in since DT.
The same reasoning that caused you to "honestly think we were ready" with the Inventory fail that was almost a year ago is what got you into this. I don't really remember any glowing feedback about this from SiSi (mostly given the fact it did not function for most ppl), let alone all the people asking you to please reconsider this "upgrade" as it only made everything take longer and only added steps with regards to the client. So why did we need this again?
I think the launcher problems perpetuated your poor web server reliability b/c all of a sudden, THOUSANDS of people were trying to update to a botched piece of code that belongs in the toilet.
Is it appropriate to say, "i told you so" yet? http://blog.beyondreality.se/shift-click-does-nothing -á-á < Unified Inventory is NOT ready... |

I use keepass since years now with both the eve-client and the web pages (and tons of other games/pages). This launcher is an absolute ******* travesty. As a multiboxer who only plays eve because of the former friendliness to multiboxing, I am razor thin close to just cancelling all 12 accounts and telling CCP to go **** themselves with pay I no longer give them w my wallet.
This was completely ill thought, planned, and executed and whomever is responsible should have a serious reprimand incoming to them. I am absolutely dumbfounded that this launcher was considered acceptable.
Congratulations CCP, alienating the playerbase that is actually your cash cow. |

CCP TheRambler wrote:Hi, a quick update from Team Roundhouse Kick here: we read your feedback and we deployed on Sisi a new version of the launcher webpage that adds an autoplay feature in the form of a checkbox on the right bottom corner. If checked, the launcher will start the client as soon as the user is logged in and the client is ready, so no additional click is required on your part. If you don't want this to happen, just uncheck it, the launcher will remember your setting either way. This feature was tested internally and now we would like your feedback before pushing it to TQ, please use this thread here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=230690Thanks!
Does it fix this problem:
Quote:So....the new launcher.
I always mult-box and do not particularly want to have muliple instances of the launcer open just sitting there after I log on. So, I select the "close launcher after log on" option, just like I did with the old launcher....
BUT....when I want to swap characters on the same account, there is no longer a logoff button, only a quit game button. So now I have to re-launch the new crappy launcher, instead of just of the client automatically going back to the logon screen.
If not, and I suspect that it doesnt, keep at it and get it sorted asap, as this is a load of crap. |

I've said it before on the other threadnaught and I'lll say it again here. Just suspend all meetings, and get the right people sat at their stations to roll this mess back first. Then resume the meets and figure out what to do next and release it again only after you have all these issues figured out. As it stands now, all those meetings look like the debate on the gender of angels that took place in Constantinople while the city was being attacked back in 1453. True story!
There's a fundamental problem that isn't the launcher on itself but instead the issue is with the epiphany that CCP believes to have had with the SSO.
The SSO would work wonderfully both with the client and in all websites using our eve account credentials if we were limited to a single account per person as well. This limitation could be from simply banning multi accounting (I know, right?) or creating a system in which you can get all your toons into the same account (and with the new spend plex, train an alt simultaneously, there's no reason not to get this done).
SSO vs. multi accounting players just doesn't work and CCP would have been better off sorting the multiaccounting thing before moving into the SSO. |

It's far too late to ban multiboxing, they would have had to do that from day one. Many EVE Players have multiple accounts thus generating more income for CCP. Baning multiboxing would mean less money. Not to mention all of the "Power of 2" deals that CCP has advertised over the last few years....
Here's my solution to the new launcher: Scrap the SSO in the launcher. Instead, imbed an HTML5 page (the SSO) directly into the client itself where the current login screen is located. There's still a launcher for ease of patching, there's still SSO, and no one has to wait on the launcher to finish launching before switching accounts in the launcher. CCP RedDawn: Ugly people are just playing life on HARD mode. Personally, I'm playing on an INFERNO difficulty...

Well, you wanted my feedback, here it is.
I have to congratulate CCP for breaking something that didn't need fixing. I did at least, manage to get my old settings restored by starting the launcher a 2nd time. So that at least is not a problem.
The problem I have with the launcher is this. This is not my only account. (Big surprise, right?). With the old launcher, I'd click to start the client, and log on from that. I could do this 3-4 more times if I wanted to, with little problem.
With the new launcher, I now have to log out, and log back on as a different user, each time. From my point of view, this has added an additional step that isn't really necessary. And to be honest, I see no great advantage to the new launcher. In fact, I see no reason to use it at all.
So, either give us back the old one, or at least just take this current piece of garbage away, so it doesn't clutter up our screens.
Thank you.
P.S. ROLL BACK the LAUNCHER!!!
Oh, and don't EVEN think about making my settings portable to other computers via some cloud bull crap. |

As it currently stands, it DOES NOT remember anything other than the first account typed in. Period.
Also, if you type another account name in, then hit "tab" to put password in, it resets the account name field back to the first one ever entered. You have to mouse click 'password' after typing in any new accounts.
Total crap. Roll this back off TQ until its atleast fully functional. It should never have been rolled out to begin with. http://blog.beyondreality.se/shift-click-does-nothing -á-á < Unified Inventory is NOT ready... |

Alright. Going through exefile.exe with /server:87.237.38.50 just leads me through a whole lot of "cannot open launcher.exe for patching" after your latest patch about 24h ago (SiSi was fine just before), so I'm going to assume that your patch REQUIRES the new launcher. Repair tool, deleting and re-installing a TQ copy to use for SiSi, nothing worked.
Your new beta launcher is downloading the 540656-539491 patch as we speak, hopefully that'll work. That still means we had to use your crap launcher to get into the system, however. Again, choice is going out the window (whether intentional or not) and we're apparently getting burdened with a launcher that does its best to cripple multiboxers (proper multiboxer support, that's hilarious). |

CCP Aporia - where have you gone. I was looking forward to hearing your replies to the issues ive had regarding this launcher and how the by pass works so much better than it.
why does it not have focus on the password box?
why does it still not remember account names after its patched?
why does the log off or restart button not close the client and reopen the launcher so I can log alts in WITHOUT leaving 8 launchers running on my desk top while im playing?
why the hell is it validating the client every time its opened?
why are you trying your hardest to remove basic multibox support?
do you know that using the eve.exe from the bin folder allows you to fix all of the above issues?
it retains password focus, it has working log off and restart buttons which don't require me to leave 8 launchers running on my pc. it only cares if the client is up to date and dose not keep checking and lastly and most importantly it provides the multibox support that the launcher does not.
fancy answering any of my questions CCP Aporia ? OMG when can i get a pic here
