I'm so disgusted by CCPs behavior as of late. I'm truly at a loss for words at how despicable this is. What more can one do than unsub? My account runs out on the 7th. Unless CCP performs some miracle that makes everything right again (which I highly doubt due to this new piece of fail) I won't be coming back.

I thought CCP was headed in the right direction these last few weeks, though I'm sad to see anyone have to get fired these days. But the list of people on certain websites that have (allegedly) been sacked so far (and not just those in the community team).... wow... I guess CCP just still doesn't "get it." |

Response to the Cyprus Black initiation.
Do the right thing re-sub and get more people to EVE so CCP will be more confident about their future profits and retract those personnel changes.
That is probably logical way to achieve something positive about cutting off people jobs. |

anyone that has posted anything anywhere have had interactions with these people. To many they were the "face" of the company since everyone else were pretending eve wasnt a trainwreck. Blaster, Rockets, Supercaps, Null sec, Low sec, Faction Warfare, Mining, Industry. and many other issues that drove people away I hope will be addressed SWIFTLY. I would trade in your transparent blogs for immediate results anyday. Im sure im not the only one that feels my time, energy,and money over the last few years is on the verge of being for nothing. These are hard times for everyone but one thing we could count on was Eve, sadly that doesnt seem to be the case anymore. |

there's 2 sides to the nickel here.
1- lower overhead and focus on core design and implementation.
2- lose communication and simply release product via standard channel and patch note process which can be 'done' by the intern.
given the language in CCP Swollen Head's apology letter and prior, we can see that communication as dictated by Head was never really communication. it was standard press release format with little or no discussion. i find it likely that internally Head saw some of the community team as being the bad guys, as they were the one's bringing together and forwarding status reports on community states within the forums and outside the forums (your community is bigger than one board, you research all of it).
with the focus on 'improved communications' being a priority within the refocusing of eve it simply stands as a 'we watch what you do, not what you say' moment. here we see you do this, and it's not a positive step.

When you take 1 guy out of every 5 guys, you can not pick "only" the ones who no one will never miss.
What comes to selection procedure and reasoning... We may not agree, but honestly - who can say they posses enough information to make this kind of difficult decisions better than people who work in the actual company.
This is sad day for many, blame games or finger pointing will not change that. When people are laid off, people who we know and like will vanish. That is what cutbacks are about. They are not pretty.
When people get laid off, they easily start to blame themselves, even in situations like this, they are just victims of some bad corporate decisions and global recession. Showing support to the people who are leaving and thanking them about past years is something they surely appreciate.
This is not end of world for anyone. There is always tomorrow. It may be better than this day, even today it can be hard to imagine.

What the hell? Zymurgist and Fallout? That doesn't make sense... they released a dev bog about how they are firing 20% of the workforce to focus on eve and dust for now... This makes the playerbase happy.
And then they fire what are basically eve celebrities, in the same stroke? Thus making the community angry? Maybe we don't have the whole story, maybe those 2 quit. I can't believe anyone is that dumb.
edit: wait Wrangler too? ok fallout and zym i can almost take... but Wrangler? **** OFF CCP. I joined back in 2007 and he was there helping me on day one. This is BS. |

Yeah, this is ridiculous.
CCP made a commitment to more open communication, and deeper involvement with player feedback, and more forum activity to respond to players.
Zymurgist and Fallout were great assets to the playerbase, and did a great job of keeping us informed with as much as they were allowed to share with us.
I cannot fathom how firing the people that deal with the EvE community can be good for the company when this whole crisis stems from not being in touch with the community.
CCP management, this was an 3PIC fail. We still applaud the work being done for Winter Expansion, but this was all about COMMUNITY in the first place. And the two people the community relied on the most, and were connected to the most, are now gone.
Who will take their place??
Who is the new voice of EvE to the playerbase?
What will be done to ensure the community is taken care of, if you've done away with the two primary people dealing with the community??
I dont expect we'll get explanations for every internal company action, but we'd all love to know where this is going.
What a depressing turn of events. I just can't imagine how this fits in with "Lets focus on EvE now".

Hilmar's spanking must have just been horrible. He was after all the one with the "lets see what they do an not what they say" attitude after all.
