So, apparently a big majority of the 20% that got fired from CCP are the community devs. Well known names are Zymurgist and Fallout.
The CEO (or whoever) of this company decides do ruin the game's development, because money is more important than satisfied customers/developers and also better than a good, playable game.
After he realizes he ran into a wall with his head in front, he decides to fire the employees who had to deal with the shitstorm caused by the outraged community.
Usually after things like this it's the CEO going, not the employees who have nothing at all to do with this whole thing. |

Funny How a lot of people called this or something similar to this happening when the LOAN they owe money on came due in OCT.
I think this is a Stick a Fork in it CCP is dead moment. And incarna was clearly a SWG moment for eve. |

Firing good people while the sh*tbags who initially caused these problems remain?
Seems like things are just getting worse and worse from here. My confidence in CCP will drop significantly if it's true Zymurgist and Fallout were let go.

I too thought that CCP management had finally grown a brain, but to fire the two people that actually tried to work with us during monoclegate, shows that maybe my faith was misguided...

I hope this will give EVE / CCP a chance to re-think its priorities and what made CCP / EVE great. Ive only been playing 2 weeks so dont know much about EVE's 8 year history but CCP should stick to what makes EVE best and not get caught up in the typical MMO need to sell fluff. If you have a great product it will stand the test of time and people will want to play the game for what it is and not the stupid typical MMO crap.
CCP admits they lost track and are trying to put things right so lets give them a chance. Its only been 2 weeks but EVE has the best community out there that have been very welcoming. Lets continue to provide positive feedback and help shape this game you all know and love, and for those of us just beginning the journey ! |

Usually after things like this it's the CEO going, not the employees who have nothing at all to do with this whole thing.
So either hire a CEO who never makes a mistake and can predict the future in order to make perfect decisions today, or fire the CEO and quickly find a new CEO that know something about Eve and the MMO market. Or keep the devil you know and let him use his new found wisdom to develop the strategy needed to keep the rest of the company afloat and moving.
Let's be honest here. CCP was trying to be proactive instead of sitting on their laurels. They were * trying to implement the Eve vision of an Eve that encompasses all MMO aspects from spaceships to the economy to avatars to FPS and so on, * trying to pre-position themselves to handle the changing MMO market scene (aka microtransactions,) especially since Eve still charges a premium monthly rate in a competitive market full of free2play, freemium, etc., MMOs, * trying to expand the company by branching out with WoD in order to avoid being completely reliant on a very old, very niche MMO in a very crowded MMO market.
You have to give CCP's management some props for trying to take the road less traveled.
Even so, I do believe Someone(Gäó) should still be beaten with a wet noodle over the "macro-transaction" NeX store strategy.
Tinfoil. It should be at the top of everyone's food pyramid.

http://www.ggsgamer.com/2011/10/19/ccp-fires-staff-focuses-on-eve/
So CCP ignores eve for 2 years. The core Product paying the bills. Many people pointed out how this was a mistake.
Many many trolls said that the people bringing up the issues just didnt get it. ETC.
Incarceration hit and years of backlogged rage exploded. It was the final straw for MANY. Made it impossible for many to even play, others lost computers to graphics card meltdowns thanks to poor coding.
NGE all the way confirmed now.
Pulling back on WOD is prob the wrong move as it might have been the thing you had to get out to save your but in the long run. This is a short run solution is another bad decision.
And they fire the people they need to rebuild respect of the consumer. BRILLIANT (sarcasms if you miss it)
Hilmar needs to step down as of yesterday.
Well, CCP
So long and thanks for all the fish. |

They do but you never hear it that way. It's usually 'moving onto new things' and I can think of one ceo in the gaming industry who did that within the last few years. |

They were fired for not properly communicating the :awesome: Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

It's my guess that due to how CCP tends to do stuff, "all in one go", both WOD and EVE were forever waiting on each other to get stuff done due to similar technologies. Party A needs info/stuff from party B, who is waiting on other thing to happen from another section of party B, which itself is waiting on something from... party A. It's a grid lock that can't be solved as long as focus is on both products equally resulting in nothing actually happening.
Thing is that this isn't only between EVE and WOD but also within EVE itself, that's why things never really actually happen and is almost always half arsed. The only way to solve that is to pick a favourite in order to break the impasse, I guess that's what CCP are doing atm.
Whether or not firing community DEVS over this, the ones who have been taking the brunt of our anger, while others who actually created the problem are still employed is probably very much about office politics, sadly. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude. |

CCP blew its foot off.
Then it decided it might as well blow its other foot off to make sure.
I really want to know what idiot is making these decisions in their company.
With the feelings of people around the world being focused on issues of being brought up by the Occupy crowd around the world this is freaking straight out moronic.
