if your not sure, reset pc, then retry.

You added extra steps to log in (especially multiple clients).
You also made it take even longer to switch characters on the same account by removing the log off button (something I do often).
How about making it easier to do stuff instead of harder? |

Goto your Eve install directory, then goto the \Bin\ folder. Look for ExeFile.exe, and create a shortcut to this file. If you use the symbolic link directory method for running multiple clients, you will need to do this from each symbolic folder.
Once you create your shortcuts, just copy/move them to your desktop. The client will fire up with all your settings (provided you didnt muck with your %appdata%\local\CCP folder) and you will have your saved login usernames same as before.
The only thing you loose doing it this was is the auto updating part of the launcher. If your client becomes outdated (due to a recently released patch) your client will display "Incompatible Protocol" If this happens, close your client, open the launcher, allow it to patch your client, then reopen your client with the "No Launcher" shortcut you created above.
Congrats and now stop your bitching, and get to killing things :P
I hope this sticks around as the launcher is pile of crap. This is what we need. Fast and easy way to login. |

okay I had the offline issue, I went into the bin folder and ran it, eve window for login popped up and said update is ready, did the update and now it will not run at all, if I click on the eve icon on my desktop, it looks to be loading but never runs, nothing happens. and every time I start it through the eve-bin evefile.exe it keeps saying update is ready even though I've already updated, nothing is happening and it keeps updating and not working, I just don't know how to get it to work. anyone have an ETA ON WHEN THE SERVER WILL BE FIXED? or possibly an solution or answer to why this keeps happening (updates then nothing happens) |

If the launcher doesn't automatically update as expected you can download the new EVE Launcher manually here: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_539169.exeThe main change is a new and improved landing page and a new login mechanism which will allow you to log into EVE Online using our SSO (single sign on) service. WeGÇÖve also included a new self-update mechanism in the EVE Launcher, which will make the update process for the EVE Launcher itself more reliable and allow us to deploy more updates as we work on improving the flow into the game. In addition to these features, weGÇÖve worked on a new version for the Mac which should also be deployed soon, which brings much closer parity between the Windows and Mac EVE Launchers, with a new embedded browser and low level tweaks to the EVE Launcher. A devblog about the EVE Launcher upgrade can be found here, further information about SSO is available here. We welcome all constructive feedback and comments and our developers will monitor the comments closely. Now if you could fix the issue of the login box only saves the first username to log in that would be great. I run 3 clients using the symbolic link directory structure, and ALL of them only see the first username to log in. Also you cant hit tab to goto the password filed, as it clears whatever you just typed for a username, and reverts back to whatever username you used the FIRST time you logged in with the launcher. |

Is the settings whipe of the new launcher a key feature? Not happy to have to redo all those settings yet again.. though admittingly it has become routine over the years. :P Making me feel all nostalgic I guess.. in a very bitter vet kind of way.
Edit: as per dev post: relaunching the launcher works to fix the loss of settings. :) |

Thank you CCP for unveiling this pile of equine *****.
1: When using multiple accounts on the same client install it now takes even longer for me to log in. 2: Upon my first login with this I find that every single setting I had has now been reset, thank you for making me spend the next 20-30 minutes redoing all my settings. 3: I will now be unable to even touch Eve on my linux box because I can't get into settings on the game before it launches full screen and breaks Wine.
If I didn't have so much time, effort, and money invested in this game, this new launcher of yours would have lost you 3 paying accounts because of all the hassle I'm having.
Good job.
PS: Ever hear the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it'? Previous launcher wasn't broke, why did you try to fix it? |

Symbolic links is a way to have x number of directories with eve installed (x being number of accounts) without using that much space. You basically have one real folder and then rest are just fake links that client sees as a separate path. That way you can have x number of settings (like colour scheme and things like that) while still using up space for one client and having to patch only once.
On windows systems this is normally done with junction (free tool from MS). |

Again we apologize for the issues caused by these server troubles. But all my settings are gone... Please close your EVE Clients and the EVE Launcher and then restart the EVE Launcher again. When you start the EVE Launcher the first time it looks for your settings in the wrong place, that is fixed as soon as you start the EVE Launcher the next time, then it will load the settings from the correct location.

Nah it's just a tiny utility. You run it for each directory you want to sym link and that's it. After that you can delete it. No install or anything of the sort. |
