It's not like you can finish real ingame fight with up to few seconds accuracy to avoid yourself running out of cap and for uses where you just compare what is better to fit like "cap recharge rig" or "mwd-less-cap-use rig" errors introduced by capacitor calculation should cancel each other out.
I'm interested in the accuracy for other cases, such as supercapitals with various fits. The inaccuracy there can be many percentage points on cap stable setups, depending on fit. That can be the difference between jump cap stable or not. |

i have a problem exporting the eft fits into eve, it seems that some of the modules in eft are named wrong so the import into eve is not working correctly
for example in eft the 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun cannot be imported into eve because it should be called 425mm Prototype Gauss Gun |

Having a wierd problem with EFT 2.14 (on Windows 7 64 bit):
* when I run EFT 'as administrator', I can see the new Tier 3 ships etc... but none of my existing set-ups or characters * when I don't run EFT 'as administrator', I CANNOT see the new Tier 3 ships but I CAN see my existing setups and characters
I notice that running as administrator resulted in it creating some new empty folders in the EFT folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\EFT) called 'Characters' and 'Setups'. FYI - I've given 'Everyone' 'full control' in the filesystem for that EFT folder.
Anyone have ideas? Where does EFT place the files when not running as administrator?
I can't be precise but I was running a fairly up-to-date version before, definitely from this year.

Doh - found it... running as a non-administrator, the files are placed here:
C:\Users\ user name \AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\EFT
For some reason it's data subfolder didn't update with the new files - or I didn't know I had to manually copy them here! - but copying the data folder from the EFT program directory to this virtual store fixed it.
Now to play with Tornado (not with this char :P) |

2.14 rev DL'd today and working great so far.
Next step is to attempt to import some old fittings. :D
Thank you for this helpful application.
Edit - I spoke a little too soon. Experienced the classic ugly shut down issue when closing down EFT with fits still open.
Steps to repeat:
1) Create / Open one or more fits.
2) Do stuff in EFT.
3) Click the EFT window's close button (the X in the upper right-hand corner).
4) Watch EFT struggle to shut itself down gracefully while sometimes creating an error noise.
I saw this behavior in 2.13.x running Vista 64-bit. And now seeing the issue crop up in 2.14 in Win7 64-bit.

Gripen, can you explain this behaviour? Why cant I see the new battlecruisers? Is there some kind of persistent cache somewhere that EFT uses? I did delete the old EFT before unzipping the new 2.14 so nothing that is left from old version. I checked about inside EFT and it says 2.14.

I am having this problem since 2.13 every time I try to update my char it alays give authentication failed.
I have copy / paste the API and keyID several times asked for new codes waited for days before use them,
Even tried the full API, and tried without firewall on.
Getting out of options what am I missing ?

Any ideas? Look a bit above for Long Nu posts. You may face same issue - putting EFT to Program Files folder with UAC enabled may mess up things as UAC silently redirects file operations to other place. Easiest way to avoid this is to move EFT out of Program Files.

It isn't a significant issue as it doesn't cause any problems. I know about it for a long time but it is very tricky to fix or even reproduce because it happens rarely and seems like randomly.

I have a work-around for the WININET Error issue.
You will need an older version of EFT as well as the newest version. I'm using 2.12.3 as well as 2.14.
- Unzip / store each version in their own seperate folders.
- Run your older version and update your character using your legacy API key. Then close EFT.
- In the folder with your old version, copy the "Characters" folder and then paste it into the folder with your new version.
- Viola! When you run the new version, you will have the option to use your nicely updated character info, imported via the old EFT and legacy API key.
It may not be a perfect workaround, but it's doing the job nicely for me and my corpies. |

It appears that EFT still has a lot of the old naming for modules that include the 'I' which were removed with Crucible. This is creating errors importing EFT fits into the game and other programs.
When will these be updated? |

I noticed this some time ago and it's still an issue in 2.14.
So my Megathron's PG in game without any implants and PG-related rigs is 19375. When I plug in a 'Squire' PG-2 implant (+1% to PG) my PG in-game increases to 19568,8.
But...
When I create a setup in EFT I get initially 20343.75. Then if I add the implant my PG decreases to the correct (in-game) value: 19568,75.
Shorter version: the implant increases the PG in-game but decreases it (to the correct value, though) in EFT. The main problem is I cannot use EFT for fitting a ship for an implantless clone because the starting value is wrong.
Deleting the Setups catalogue and starting EFT again didn't help so it seems it doesn't have anything to do with older setups.
All this applies to my other ships as well, at least part of them.
I've got all PG-related skills maxed out so I couldn't have set them too high, I've double-checked everything anyway. |

Sadly, that would be unethical. Fixing Gripen's code errors where he has misused windows DLLs violates the implicit license granted to us for this program which "isn't [open source] and not planned to be."

As a major plus to those with difficulties, it has a very responsive developer community int their forums.
The second is Pyfa (Python Fitting Assistant ). I have only recently been introduced to this offering, but I can see that it's source is readily available and it's liscense (the gpl 3) while not perfect, lets you practice that advise given by NetheranE and actively fix problems as they come up. It seems to support all the features of EFT and quite a few more, not to mention a much more appealing UI. Also, it is fairly trivial to import all your old EFT fits into Pyfa. |
