It's funny because I don't have a PS3, so whenever I've watched DUST vids I've ended up playing Planetside 2 afterwards because it really has the same vibe to it.. But I think there are some fairly big differences underneath the FPS sci-fi war surface though.
Oh and I do hope they'll make DUST for pc too, would be nice to try it.. and I think maybe a lot of EVE players in general has a pc, and they'd have an interest in playing it more than completely random playstation gamers. |

What's funny is I was watching a Planetside 2 stream on The Mittani and thought that was Dust 514 at first, then I eventually realized what it was, instantly downloaded PS2 afterward. Pretty fun.

I was thinking about getting one, but the PS4 is coming out in the fall...
I might get that so I can play Planetside on it. (I don't like PC FPS's anymore, wears out my laptop keyboard).
I might download DUST, but the PS4 isn't going to be backwards compatible and I don't know if CCP knows how to move DUST to it |

The target market for DUST begins and ends with EvE bittervets who are bored to death with the space game, too "HTFU" to ever play some bullshit kiddie themepark like STO or SWTOR, and were looking for an excuse to buy a console. Within that microscopic demographic, DUST will be the only FPS anyone would ever play. People who don't give a crap about and have never heard of EvE will play it for thirty seconds, uninstall, and never look back. |

Probably should have just waited to port it on the PS4 so they could've use that Unreal Engine that was originally intended. |

it might not happen right away but it will be converted to the PS4, it would be seriously stupid of CCP to release a game they expect to keep going along side eve right at the end of a consoles life and throw away 5 years of funding plus whatever it cost them for the eve sides changes

True, but the question should be if DUST's profit potential warrants more development given it's performance in 2013 and in light of recent news, the Planetside juggernaut will be there waiting for it. |

I just want to point out that FPS games are probably the worst possible games to play on a console. Controllers + real time precision aiming = massive incomprehensible failure. For the love of god, get Planetside on pc. It's worth a worn out laptop keyboard.

no idea what the profits are but being f2p i'm sure it's making a decent bit, really they just need to do some advertising but CCP has never been great at that

dust has better gameplay imo, PS2 is a lot bigger scale but i'm not sure how far they will have to bring that down to work on console hardware, it's already fairly laggy on even beefy PCs
also the skill system is much different and really PS2 has way more p2w then dust, honestly when you compare them PS2 becomes more for the COD type |

how stupid do people have to be to not know that PS2 was going to be a flagship title on the ps4?
didn't the last 10 game updates over the last 6 months hint to it enough? |

also, dust was partially paid for by sony to get their userbase acquainted to the idea of a f2p fps mmo.
absolutely nothing outta this is a surprise. if dust closes shop in 6 months, noone will care, not even ccp will.

I have no idea how DUST is doing in CCP's eyes and I haven't even played it. But my point was that whatever it made in 2013 (and whatever profit projection this extrapolates out to) is going to be probably cut in half at least when it's directly competing with PS2.
I can't imagine a scenario where it's better off when it hits PlayStation 4 than it was at launch on PS3. So the question CCP would have to ask itself is whether it's worth it |

Shockingly accurate explanation of Dust's demographic. Makes me almost pity CCP in their decisions to create the game built around the audience, stuck between having to make the game fit the expectations of eve players and ignoring the need for a decent fps foundation which would have attracted other fps/console players.
What is a shame is that the community will never understand or learn about the profit loss/gain from CCP's little diversion of a title because I can only assume they loss quite a bit of resources from the whole deal.
I think the lasting legacy of Dust514 is a strong warning or wake up call to CCP for future projects outside of maintaining EVE(hopefully for another decade), considering their other ventures failed in such an abysmal fashion. |

I hope CCP has the sense to keep it on the pc, and ignore the ps4, and i hope public beta for WoD starts Q1 of 2014/
on a side note/ Imagine the woe of CCP if WoD crumbles like dust. Why would any talented/upcoming designer sign on to that studio for that level of job security. |

Arma3, battlefield, crysis, RO2/RS, TF, PS2, BlackLight, CS:GO and many more argue against the statement of any decay of pc fps or its market. |
