The ones I liked the most:
Neon Genesis Evangelion Hellsing Kiddy Grade Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z
I can't remeber any I disliked more than Dragonball GT, it totally ruined the series for me (DBZ and the original DB ruled).

At the moment, Berserk has got to be my favorite right now. It makes absolutely no sense until you read the manga and realize that the anime is basically an origin story to the whole thing. MediaBlasters picked it up a bit ago and can usually be found at Best Buy and the like. Dark Horse Comics picked up the manga, but they're only up to vol. 10 out of the 28 that's already scanlated online.
Other cool ones:
Ghost in the Shell, along with SAC Trigun was fun Cowboy Bebop Samurai 7 is cool for the Seven Samurai story
Ones I could stand to have missed:
Anything that starts with DB Naruto Inuyasha (It had it's moments, but couldn't Kagome just have brought back some automatic weapons or something around episode 90 or so and just finish it already?)

(animT n00b) I'm thinking about getting the Guyver series - any opinions? I saw the first episode years and years ago, and I thought it was brilliant, but I think I was 10 at the time. -------------------------------------------------- Loyalty, Integrity, Honour. |

Edited by: Hessi on 15/01/2006 03:04:02 I cannot believe i just read a 7 page thread about favourite animes and mangas and not once read Nausicaa. The anime is great, the manga is beyond it, it is about the best thing Miyazaki ever did (besides Porco Rosso, the rest follows close by). Other missing great series that havent been mentioned yet(or i was blind): Honey&Clover Azumanga BECK (manga and anime) Planetes Scrapped Princess pretty much the whole Seikai no saga (the original books to appear in english soon).

Eh i usually dont post to these kinda topics but hey!
Best Anime Films: GiTS. GiTS2 Innocence, oh and Appleseed rocked. - If i had to pick just one i'd go for Innocence just because the animation in Innocence was just mindnumbing. And had a deep story but i had to watch it about 4 times to get a good grasp of everything due to the subtitles.
Best Series: Eh dont really watch much on the series level except for the GiTS:SAC (noticing a trend here ) And if my siggies doesnt give it all a way well...
*Siggie images all from SAC season 2 episode 5* Hehe i made my own siggie :)

Edited by: F''nog on 15/01/2006 07:16:31 I'll have to go back and read everything that was posted, but from the first few I've read. NGE is very interesting and thought-provoking up until it crashes and burns in the last episode or two. They really sucked. I haven't been able to watch the movies yet, but hopefully the second one makes it all worthwhile (I've heard the first is a real let down).
And I don't know what's so bad about DBZ. It's a lot of fun, and has some great fight scenes. The only real problem is that it's so long. If it were American it would be a fraction of its length. This has some good and bad points, but a lot of episodes could have been skipped or compressed easily.
Best series: GITS, Bebop, and GundamW are right up there. Edit - Last Exile was beautiful. Best film: Akira kicks ass (especially if you watch it several times). Mononoke is great too. There's some others, but I can't think of any right now.
Best Manga: Appleseed was very interesting. I really need to reread it now that I'm twice the age as when I first read them.
Can't think of any Worsts, sorry.

I have to agree, GITS is one of the best anime I've seen
Is there anywhere I can get hold of them without haveing to wade through god knows how much crap in hubs and then waiting hours (or days) for stuff to download only to find that the file is corrupted ?
I'd even be willing to pay if there was some kind of box DVD set or something.

Actually, no, End of Evangelion still sucks.

All of you that liked FMA (full metal alacmist), have you seen the film yet? it's very good. but the anime is nothing compaired to the manga which is still going and getting better and better all the time.
