Hi,
I have noted while playing a bit on Sisi that "Warp to 0km" option is in. This might sound as a good news for the travel grind/boring time haters (me included). HOWEVER, the "compensation" is TERRIBLE: there is a random factor in each warp making you exiting warp with a 0 - 15 km deviation !
More, all the bookmarks have this "deviation" and i havent found a skill yet to reduce it.
I have made a trip of about 20 jumps using my perfect bookmarks and 4-5 were not working as they should be: i have exited warp at 6.7.9 and even 12km from the gate using Instas !
I truely hope CCP will do something about it else the only things they will achieve will be: more ppl to empire from 0.0 and ppl in empire just quit the game due to boring travel times (check the MMORPG.com threads under Eve cathegory and you will see that 90% of those that didnt liked Eve said it was due to the: LOOOONG travel times where you can easily play Solitaire on the Desktop to fill your time.
I TRUELY hope that this bookmark/travel mess up will not be released as it is now cuz it will be a big blow to Eve's attractiveness and i hate to see Eve suffer a similar fate to what SWG suffered after the "Combat Upgrade" patch.
Oh the the new font on Sisi just SUCK. Cant you guys not see that it is terible ? Its like i'm not seeing good anymore and i need a pair of powerfull glasses to see through the New Font blurriness !!

Bye bye instant jump bookmarks.
I tested it thoroughly, and you honestly don't need instant jump bookmarks anymore. The new system rocks, you can go anywhere without being like "omg I have no instas, I'm going to die"

Yay!
It's a first step, now they need to add in a replacement. Remember missile nerf. First day everyone cried the sky is falling as no one had missile skills. We just need insta skills / mods now. I would personally prefer no skills and all mods as they take up room and ocmbat performance. Skills just become additional grinds as necessity denotes.

And this means there will never be one? Ever? Patience. 'Test server' denotes 'incomplete' not 'final build'.
And the warping to bookmarks doesn't mean there is a problem with bookmarks, they are still fine and nothing has moved. The randomness is factored into your ship, not the bookmarks. Otherwise it would not make sense if people could still use lag-inducing cpu melting bookmarks anyway and still get on the dime. Patience my good fellow, patience. ------

You people need to understand something about the Test Server. It's a TEST SERVER.
This is where you can play like it's a great big sandbox, and TEST proposed game changes. Test them, and if they're not working or are ill-conceived you have to let someone know about it.
Start a thread in the Game Development forum about it, especially if it's a bug.
THIS IS THE TIME TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK. Do it correctly, and your feedback will be noticed by someone.

I understand the need to address insta-jump BMs, but without access to the test server I can't see how this is going to affect the kind of tactical BMs that players use, such as good asteroids or sniping spots. Does this mean that these BMs, which are not used for faster or safer travel, will no longer be operational either?

winter, you also need to understand that CCP put RMR on sisi. this means this insta changes are part of RMR.

There will most likely be a way round it. Afterall, you can warp to 100km away from things as it is. And just get a friend out there in a ceptor/covert to speed away to your desired distance and gang warp yourself there if all else fails.

This does not mean they cannot change parts of RMR. It's not a "all or nothing" sort of situation. They can tweak the various elements of RMR as they need to.

They have a 15km deviation that means, if you have a bookmark 200km out and warp to it, your ship halts in a 15km sphere around it. that can be anywhere between 185 to 215km from your starting position.

"I tested it thoroughly, and you honestly don't need instant jump bookmarks anymore."
How did you "test it thoroughly" if the server with current build went up just today, and there's neither related skills nor modules available, yet? o.O
(oh and base warp in distance seems to be random between 0-15 km. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't)

While this is pretty cool, if there's skills to reduce the deviation its pretty useless if you ask me. Everyone will have to train it, and there's no freedom of choice nor specialisation at all.Just a pointless timesink. And if there is no skill, then its gonna make gang travel with different sized and speed ships quite interesting - if your inties land on teh gate, but your vulnerable freighter lands at 15k.... ---:::---

Yay lets add a rank 5 skill that decreases the randoness! That way newbies have even less of a role in the game! Whoohoo! ------------------

This is bad news, if it works like this on all kinds of warps. And I am not talking travel here. Risk landing 30km from a target at a busted safespot? Come on, he warps before you've got in scrambling range even with a Crusader (chosen for light weight)!
Would be much more interesting and good if this only aplied to warps that'd end inside the Jump-Space-Destabilizer-Sphere-Thingy around the gates (meaning 100km warp-ins are accurate, warps to member are accurate, warps to bookmarks are accurate, only insta-jumps get screwed)
Oh, and wasn't Red Moon Rising going to feature "Rapid Battlefield Deployment" changes? Battleship deployment time to battlefields just got slowed to half speed
I wish there were more fun skills with Memory as primary. Poor Intaki combat people with low perception... |

Edited by: Hakera on 14/11/2005 19:27:12 interesting change. I wonder if the new high slot nav module is stackable to further reduce the possible randomness.
I do wonder what effect this will have for warp bubbles since bm's no longer apply, where would they be placed to bring people out of warp?
Also I wonder what the effect will be on gang warps, could command ships get a appropiate module that increases this chance for accuracy for a fleet?

Look at it this way, currently you have a 100% chance of landing 15km away from a gate if you don't have instas.
With this change you have a 16.7% chance of insta jumping even without instas and a 33.3% chance of landing within 5km of a gate. That has to be better, especially if CCP can really free up more server resources that are currently tied up by millions of insta jump sets to improve server responsiveness. ---------
