I tried it on SiSi with meta 4 cruise missles and another setup with T2 torps... still takes forever and a day to kill frigates.

Your skills just arn't good enough i can instant pop frigs with a group of 4 T2 precision missiles and a single target painter. Elite frigs take two to three vollies with 8 missiles and a target painter. |

You can also use Sentry drones to blap frigs on the approach and if they get under the sentry tracking then use lights to finish them off, don't waste your Cruise volleys on them, in the end losing the ability to easily blap frigs isn't as severely crippling to the Navy Raven anymore, it also boasts the best projection with 940 dps to 122km with missiles alone meaning if the rats spawn at range (happens often) the Raven will be doing more damage than the Nightmare, Mach or Vindi, the damage starts to even as the rats come closer but at a top of 1120 dps with drones it's pretty close even at closer ranges.
Honestly I think it's pretty close to being one of the best mission boats, I doubt it would beat a Nightmare at EM/Therm rats but I'm thinking it could give the Vindicator/Machariel a run for their money on longer range missions. |

Warp in, shoot any frigates before they even move, and the slaughter can begin! In roughly 3 months time I'll be doing 1060 dps and 8468 volley damage just from T2 fury missiles.
With T2 precision missiles I'll be doing 761 dps and 6049 volley damage.
With T2 Sentries and fury missiles that goes up to 1246 dps and 9188 volley damage.
That's pure damage to hitting any npc for maximum damage as I'm hitting the lowest resist
All that with a 121.8KM range and a gravimetric sensor strength of 65.86.
Other ships might do certain npc and mission better but for overall userbillity against anything the CNR is very bloody good.
EDIT: The delayed damage isn't that bad either as in nearly every mission that damage has been applied well before the next cycle starts. |

There's a set pool of missions (A small, stagnant pool I might add). The NPC's spawn at the exact same range as they always do in a given mission.
After a few weeks of running missions its not difficult to have memorized what exactly you need for each mission, and if you can't then you can look at mission reports and get exact information on everything involved with running any given mission.
You don't need any overall usability, you need to cater your ship to get the specific mission done as quickly as possible. Not today spaghetti. |

I dont know, but after initial enthusiasm my feeling about cruise missile ships is back to "please npc, dont pulse mwd while Im shooting at you...****...please npc, dont pulse rep...****... dont shoot defender..."
...and I really miss being able to 1 shot frigs with half of the guns and hate seeing some npcs are left with 10% hull and i will waste full volley on them.

I don't get what your trying to say there, you can use half your missiles on a CNR to instant pop frigs. Elite frigs do take a couple of volleys of a full rack but to be honest you can just use drones on them to kill them just as fast while you take out the battleships and battlecruiser/cruisers.
Just out of interest do you know what your completion time for Sansha Pirate invasion is ?

I know what you mean and it may just be the fact I also have missile implants, but I just dont find it a material issue. What I tend to use the drones for is mopping up those rare rats that the cruises dont insta-pop and just keep the cruises walking up the locked target chain whilst the drones catch up on any stagglers (and there /really/ aren't many).
I use a similar pattern with the phoon when I use that boat, only the drones rip through even quicker due to the extra number of them and more DDAs.
@ExcalibursTemplar: If you're excited by the CNR, look at a properly fitted TFI, that thing is just hilarious. Without implants, 1418dps out to 39+12 (on the gardes), or 1363DPS out to lock range (bouncers), most of it applied. Add implants and you're talking silly numbers. And thats not even a deadspace fit, T2, some faction only. |

I know for a fact from accepting the mission and killing absolutely everything to handing it in takes me 12 minutes. If I remember I got it down to 8-9 minutes in the nightmare, but today I just blitz it by jumping between the station ruins and killing objective rats.
And what I was trying to say - cnr needs 2 full volleys of 8 launchers (16s and 2-3 target painters) to kill elite frig, assuming frig wont pulse its mwd or rep. Nightmare can do it with alpha of just 2 guns (of 4, with 6.5s rof, without use of target painters), mach can do it in 3 seconds etc.
You dont want to ungroup your launchers as it will only spawn more defenders and you cant really control your outgoing damage anyway, because missiles have delayed damage and you dont know if rat simply wont pulse its mwd and mitigate half of your volley, shoot defender or pulse its rep.
Dont get me wrong, cruise missile ships are great mission runners (as morrigan said, look into fleet phoon, that thing manages to kill rats noticeably faster in most missions), but everything has advantages and disadvantages too...

Rattlesnake is easily the fasted if done right, especially if you are just rushing through mission it will maximize profit. High slots run 4 cruise missiles launchers or torps if you want, but probably cruise with the buff now. That gives you 2 utility to salvage a few things since you probably wont be coming back with a noctis. Active tank it, yes... active tank that rattle. Run all bcs and drone damage amps in the lows. Use sentries for you main damage, probably gardes and bouncers. This fit will allow you to tank anything, maybe change out a resist now and then. You will do 1200+ dps and the main part of your dps has no ammo cost. Obviously you will need to spend some money on the tank, but not all that much and will still come out cheaper and better than the previously listed ships. |

Mach is still the king of missions.
Also when you get it expensive fit the difference between the others gets much bigger. For example you can get deadspace MWD and some A-type or X-type shield booster. Those 2 things will make your Mach the true king. My Mach has 2 officer mods, with them my ship is cap stable with X-type x-large SB on. You also get 1500+ m/s velocity with MWD which makes your DPS almost the same as on paper since you don't waste your time on traveling.
P.S. even with this cruise buff the missiles still fail to apply the full damage because of AFs rats use, Defenders and very small sig. For example 2 defenders will kill 50% of damage of golem's volley. So the more launchers you have the lower damage loss will be.
All in all nothing compares to Mach. I still can't complete AE in pimped CNR for less than 20 mins. Whatever. |

Once you know how many volleys you need there is no DPS loss, only DPS delayed.
This means with equal DPS a missile finish a mission ~5 seconds slower total. Not per ship. |

I levered up my alts standings with this character, so its much easier to just trigger a mission with my alt, and then do missions with this till they coincide, its not too hard a test to synthesize, but pocket clearing isn't best isk anyway.

and sometimes they fire a defender, or get a rep cycle in. if you have your guns ungrouped it isn't uncommon for only one more shot to be needed, and with turrets you only fire that one more shot. with missiles I group them and can waste many rounds. if you can count individual missile launches, well good for you, it is far more effort, and a bit too random for me to even want to try bothering with it more than I have. it is nearly impossible to do, if an npc is in strucuter a full volley is almost always overkill, but will it need 3, 4, or 8 more missiles to fully kill? with turrets the game finds out for you and only fires that many shots. This... and add mwd cycles where you easily lose 50% of the volley when npc is decelerating. Its beyond me how people dont see it, its like they are all theorycrafting and havent actualy used said ships/weapons.
I also dont believe in "counting individual shots" considering you have to manage 2-3 target painters (with different cycle time), your missiles hit with delayed damage (with target at point blank its 3 seconds) and you have NO IDEA if target will get rep, pulses mwd or fires defender (ungouped launchers = bigger chance of defender). And if it does and you already shot your missiles at another target (not target painted I guess), you have to wait 8 secs before shooting another volley at the first target and you are giving npc more chance for another rep cycle/defender... Overkill damage is another great point as it happens against every bc and t1 cruiser and most battleships.

You are right, I dont. Do you know why? Because it takes 5x more time to kill an elite frig with cruise misiles than with guns. Assuming frig wont pulse its mwd/get a rep cycle. If I could kill the frigs in reasonable time with cruises, I would do it and I would never launch anything else but salvage drones (fleet phoon is completely different beast, because its sentrys have almost 3x more dps than sentries on cnr and they can reliably kill even elite cruisers on their own).
I used t2 rof rig and cap booster (that I switched to sensor booster later). Not sure about web or drones as I never really felt it needs more tracking (keep at range + faster than most npc ships = perfect tracking).

I really don't understand why people keep going on about frigates. In my CNR I'm killing battleships in around 2 to 4 volleys. Isn't that the most important thing considering everything else except for elite frigs instant pops in one volley ? |

The two omnis I can tack onto my CNR actually make it less of a gap with the phoon, strictly on frigs (the bore in hard and fast so garde range is a non issue), than you'd think. The phoon pulls away on bigger targets.

jammers are annoying tho. I really don't understand why people keep going on about frigates. In my CNR I'm killing battleships in around 2 to 4 volleys. Isn't that the most important thing considering everything else except for elite frigs instant pops in one volley ? EDIT: Half a volley with a target paint for normal frigs.
Not at all. Its the total time to kill all the ships in the mission. Especially when volleys are 9 seconds apart compared to 3; plus travel time of the initial volley.
we're gonna make them eat our ship, then ship out our ship, and then eat their ship that's made up of our ship that we made 'em eat. |

Morrigan LeSante wrote:The two omnis I can tack onto my CNR actually make it less of a gap with the phoon The gap is still so big that drones on tfi can murder frigate/cruiser/elite cruiser/bc npcs really efficiently on their own. Unlike drones on cnr.
I cant imagine I would actually use sentries on cnr against elite cruisers in sansha blockade - it takes ridiculously long for them to kill a single 250k cruiser. Sentries on tfi can kill them on their own so I dont have to waste a single volley on them. Same for blockades last spawn scram frigs - they just pop to tfis sentries, while they happily get rep cycles against cnrs sentries and I sometimes have to launch lights to kill the surviving frigs (if they point me). When volley of cruises leaves npc bs in hull, I can switch tfis sentries to it and they are actually able to kill it really fast - against cnr sentries npc bs happily gets rep cycles and it takes really long time for them to kill it.
Sentries on cnr simply dont work well as "independent" dps and synchronising their dps with launchers in really problematic because of delayed damage, so you never really know if they actually helped you to shoot 1 volley less or not. They are good for inflating eft dps values though. It is not the case with gunships, because not a single shot from turret have to be wasted if you dont want to and their instant damage allows you to precisely control outcoming dps.
Tfi is specific case (and drone boats ofc, difference is that on droneboats guns are "secondary"), because on tfi sentries can work as independent dps force, so they have much higher combat value. |

I tend to use them as mop up tools, for stuff that doesn't die in one hit or just give them their own thing to shoot. It's no different for me compared to the phoon (in principle) because the phoon I use is missile based too. |

It's because it's the worst case scenario which happens maybe once per month in an Angel Extra. Defenders aren't a problem since 2 or 3 patches ago either. If you would fly a missile boat, you would have noticed.
Missiles do have their advantages - they never fight in falloff, they never lose damage to suboptimal damage types, and they never lose damage because you move your ship. ;)
Yeah, they have disadvantages, but the comparision isn't as bad as some people claim.

In most missions the majority of targets are at most 50k away. My missiles travel at roughly 10km a second so 5 seconds latter they're hitting the target. So there is delayed damage but i don't see the problem as it's well within the cycle time of my missile launchers. If the targets are much closer the damage feels like its nearly instant.
Just out of interest how many volleys does it take you to kill most battleships ? |

Yeah, sure, I dont fly golem at all, defenders do not exist and rats mwd once per month. Its almost like some people WANT TO BELIEVE they have bestest mission ship in the universe.
Oh, and if you actually used missile boat you would notice, that 90% of the rats in angel extravaganza spawn outside their orbit range and they regularly use their mwds to get into that range (which is around 8k)... it is same for every mission that spawns npcs outside their orbit range, which is... ALOT.
Missiles have advantages and disadvantages and they are far from so good as some people claim.

You probably aren't running sentry II's then. I'm just an RCH (little bit) under 20 mil a tick.
Pop the triggers first instead of last so that everything you shoot except for the fist couple ships is in optimal.

My Mach has ~1300 DPS with faction ammo and no drones. I use Officer Cap. Power Relay so I can run cap stable Gist X-Type X-Large SB. The price for faction ammo is almost the same as for T2 missiles and it's not that high.
As for range I have 3.8+59 and it's perfectly fine. I still 1-shot frigs at ~60-80km range.
The key to use faction ammo is you use it on missions with lots of BS. For example I never use it on Mordus Headhunters and Infiltrated Outpost missions. Whatever. |

Since I buy faction ammo in lots of 100k with trade-in ammo I build in my spare time and Concord LP from Incursions I never really worry about the cost. I also build my T2 ammo in my spare time as well, so here the breakdown with todays prices.
Hail= 320isk each Barrage= 215isk each Quake= 415isk each Republic Fleet ammo= about 600 per shot plus 3.3 LP every time 7 guns cycle (105isk and .48 LP and 480 ISK each)
I build ammo in batches of 800k each so I rarely pay attention to the cost. Currently have a bit of overstock on ammo (Noticed thanks to this conversation) selling 700k Hail and making some more since the profit margin is so high right now.
And yes the Tracking Enhancer nerf took roughly 20km off my autocannons so I dropped one TE-II for a Sig-Amp and added a scripted TC-II to the mids and I am back to essentially the same pre-nerf range.

And yes the Tracking Enhancer nerf took roughly 20km off my autocannons so I dropped one TE-II for a Sig-Amp and added a scripted TC-II to the mids and I am back to essentially the same pre-nerf range.
Seems legit. And good idea to swap out a TE for a TC. I still wonder how 1400dps with auto's is even remotely possible however. If you include 4 Garde II's you can reach that kind of DPS though. |

That also. A TFI can actually put ouf 1500+ dps at 100km though, not that that is actual applied DPS either. At anything smaller than a battleship anyway. |

Just unloaded the drones and checked to be sure, and your right I am only getting 1357dps / Hail, 1216dps / RF EMP, 963dps / Barrage.
1597 with Guards, or 1437 with Warriors. and Hail L.

With hail... yes. -30% tracking. And reduced falloff also over RF. You can actually get 1660 dps with hail however, and 4+48 falloff. /w 4 garde II's and implants/Burst rig. ^_^ |

Yeah for missions like Vengance where everything spawns between 20 and 30 km, just use an Auto targeting II and kill everything long before it gets any transversal if it does get transversal Pulse the MWD and wait for the rat to adjust to pop it. Vengance takes me about 12 minutes to complete.
And BTW the Tracking Comp II with a script coincidently give a 35% boost to tracking.

Missed you comment, I move the ship towards rats when they exceed 30 km switch scripts when they exceed 40 km and use different guns if they spawn outside 50 km. that's what the MWD is for.

I'm only getting 13 in my TFI but its because theres only one Sansha mission worth doing in Minmatar space.
15 mill a tick is the most I've ever had recently, normally its at most 10mill. BUT i mainly put that down to the missions them self. As I'm ultra careful with my faction standings and run pretty much every single mission except for faction kill missions.
To be honest the missions i get from my current agent are a bit meh. I only run for that agent though as I'm getting near 3K for my LP so I'm just blitzing them. If i moved back to Shuria i think i would make far more in direct cash but lose out on my LP conversion rate. |

I believe from a math post that quite of lot of that DPS actually is applied. Far more than one might expect if you use a three slot tank. |

If you know how to use EFT or PYFA, you will find that it is clearly not. we're gonna make them eat our ship, then ship out our ship, and then eat their ship that's made up of our ship that we made 'em eat. |

The information he posted jives with what I'm saying if you actually open the chart. 50% loss of DPS at mission range. we're gonna make them eat our ship, then ship out our ship, and then eat their ship that's made up of our ship that we made 'em eat. |

Machariel align speed and steady dps application makes it the top contender in my books. I've flown all of the top end battleships in a gank setup; the late navy dominix was awesome but is now lacking. The tracking enhancer nerf must have hit gunboats hard, too.
TFI can realistically top a lot of the boats with the raw dps numbers and speed. You can fly one with a 2 slot tank due to sentries and your DPS: pithum C invul field and a decent booster. I would probably fit it like this:
6x cruise II 1x drone link augmentor 1x utility high (NOS if they function well in uprising 1.1, drone link augmentor)
4x CN bcu 3x drone damage amplifier II
1x FN omni tracking link 1x gist B-type xl shield booster 1x pithum C-type invul field 1x utility mid (PWNAGE, propulsion, sensor booster or tank) 1x PWNAGE target painter
3x rigor II / rigor I
5x garde II / berserker II |

The only rats bouncers are efficient on are angels, which brings us back to the Machariel for angels etc etc etc. If you shoot a Core Rear Admiral with bouncers it will do way less damage for example. You should shoot that guy with Wardens.
The quickest kill time on him is going to be with a RS with wardens and Kinetic T2 missiles, period.
For the angel equivalent its going to be a mach with bouncers.
For Sanshas its going to be a NM with 2 curators. Lol.

I agree, but this thread is for quickest mission completion times. we're gonna make them eat our ship, then ship out our ship, and then eat their ship that's made up of our ship that we made 'em eat. |

Quite agree, but wardens/bouncers/curators are interchangable - my point was the DPS only drops because of the limited garde range - the boat is consistent, replicable DPS out to sentry range - not something which can be said for non-missile hulls.
Point is, for it's cost, it's brilliant. Of course, if you have the skills that thing needs to work...you're likely in a better hull, if you're looking general purpose. If you want a specialized hull for given mission groups - she's borderline unbeatable. |

Ok lets go back to the OPGÇÖs original question; GÇÿGÇÖWhatGÇÖs the best one as in for speed to clear the mission, money no object.GÇÖGÇÖ
I am sure most people can sit and drop fittings and modules into a hypothetical ship and show great numbers, but it come back to the argument of applied DPS over Paper DPS, and Missile cost over faction ammo cost, and why is it the colour of rust .

Actually that one might push me past 15 minutes, but I tend to MWD towards the BS's on the right killing the Damping cruisers first then head back to the new spawn throwing ammo away as I go, keeping the transversal up and shooting only targets inside 25km then rounding back to the gate for the next room. I kill the high bounties and leave the trash. I used to kill them all for the salvage but since salvage got nerfed I just CBA to bother with it anymore.

Ironically the assault is one of the best blitz missions there is because the gates are unlocked and you only need to kill 1 group to complete it.
Also, 2 boosters + scripts completely negate the damping in that mission if you want to kill everything. we're gonna make them eat our ship, then ship out our ship, and then eat their ship that's made up of our ship that we made 'em eat. |

Hint; For anyone that tries this make sure you kill the scramming frigs before you try it.
