Guys, through several ideas on this post I have come to an idea (at the end of the first page of that thread, or here directly for those who don't want to read all but my proposal). It might be a compromise on this topic! Please read through it. Maybe it's an idea CCP could implement?

According to this link...
Timecard Seller
Just on the thread alone, he's sold roughly 30 GTCs at about roughly 285mil each... add that, multiply that, carry the 1... He has made an estimated sales of 8,550,000,000 ... in about 3 days. Not to mention he has lowered his price twice.
That's one rich guy... prolly about 3bil per day... Hmmmm, seem fair to you?

couple of thoughts here
- the argument that ccp won't change this because the money goes to them is invalid as they get the money anyways, those timecards are being bought to eventually use so ccp gets no extra money as those accounts would have been paid for anyways.
- the argument that this is game breaking because one person can get rich quick, well, can you say T2 print? I knew you could. The mechanics already exist for one person to get rich quick and make tons of money for next to no online time ( log, place buy, sell orders and que the factory ). All the timecard system does is allow individuals a way to control weather or not they are the ones that get rich.
When ccp announced that the chineese gold, err, isk farmers were getting there own server cluster to play on and they were going to allow ingame item for cash people fraked and said what about us. Now that us is allowed a limited form people are freaking again.
As much as I grind on ccp for some of the stupid things they do ( seriously, a missle launcher on an omen... gawd what a disgrace... ) I also feel for them when they try something new some people asked for only to have another part of the player base go ape ****.
I have one final question, if mini prices have been so badly cut by all this macro mining for isk sales why does everything cost 20-100% MORE then it did 6 mos ago when I first started pricing fit outs for my future ships ( the ones I'm finally getting into now ) back when minies were selling for a lot more then now and you'd think prices would have been cheaper.

funny stuff
EVE is about pvp / competition between player. So somehow it's similar to using an aimbot in a shooter. So the aimbot is just a means to control, wether they are the ones who get shot.

comparisons between EVE and Counter Strike or Starcraft are pointless. In EVE, experience, skillpoints, wealth, assets, T2 BPO are things that make the game unfair for the newest players. (in an economical way I mean)
A newbie who sells an ETC can afford an implant set +3, all the skills he needs and many ships without the boredom of mining for hours. I think that it is good if it makes them remain in game. Buying isks is not learning to earn isks in EVE.
Each day some newbies convo or message me when they see my Obelisk to tell that they want to become traders and that such a ship would be handy for them. They are so disapointed when they learn the price of this ship ! By selling some ETC, they can afford this ship faster. And freighters are good for the deflation and for the capital ship economy.
The case of the players who buys 10 Bil (1500 us$) or 50 Bil (7500 us $) or 100 bil (15000 us $) threw ETC just to concurrence unfairly the established monopoles is highly hypothetic and fictive. And even with 100 Bil, how do you corner EVE's economy ? you buy one or two HAC BPO and then ? where is the change into the markets ?
Maybe I'm completely wrong and ETC sales are a real danger for EVE. But the wise attitude would be more a 'wait and see' rather than a 'BAN BAN BAN, and ASAP' !
sorry for my english

A "wait and see" attitude? Hasn't it already been proven in other MMORPGs that real cash for any ingame item just completely ruins the game.
Why WOULDN'T a game reward you for playing more? Now that philosophy is gone... you don't need to even play Eve to get rich. It's not about the guy cornering the market.. its about him taking away the things those that actually put in the time and effort. And yes... 100bil could easily destroy a regions market.
Example: I make my isk the good hard old fashion way, busting long hours, mining, trading, missioning, POSing, and I gather 10bil in my wallet in about a year. I check auction board, bid on some t2 bpos, and lose out to some guy who used real cash for timecards and sold them for isk... who gained his wealth in less than a week. So, i'm left to wait for more auctions, and sit back and wait for a t2 bpo lottery.
You all think you should have everything with no effort... and yet you forget the only way to achieve anything is through effort. I'll toss out the one word I always say... you people are SELFISH.

No. It hasn't. Ultima Online was the second largest of the origional "Big Three" MMO's, and has allways allowed it. It happens in other games, and the effects can be tracked...it's a tiny issue in most. The problems really happen when there is a seriously limited number of ways to gain certain items (unlike Eve) or when the in-game cash is duped (again, unlike Eve), or when, bluntly, the game sucks.

Let me put it this way... would you rather play a game where anyone could get anything at anytime they wanted... i.e. cheat codes... or do you want a game where people have to actually obtain, work, and make an effort to be successful?
This whole issue will eventually lead to a universe of rich massive people who have everything.
I, my friend, would rather keep the value of my isk, the time, and the effort.
Of course, this whole issue wouldnt matter IF those involved couldn't affect me and my game play... so far, no one has, but I'm betting on it that more and more rich timecard sellers are going to start screwing over everyone else.

So ban the advertising, and let them serve their origional purpose (letting the credit-card impared play), rather than calling for a ban.
Calling for a ban shows the real colours of a number of people (as selfish and self-centered).

Sorry, but this was so funny I had to comment. The person who is paying real life money most likely had to "work his ass off" to get that money for the isk. You just had to play a game. If playing a computer game feels like work, maybe it's time for a new hobby.
I don't entirely disagree with you, but the way you said it was amusing.

Edited by: Avon on 28/11/2005 23:20:00 I wonder, if I won the UK National Lottery, would put me in a position to buy up all the stuff from the TechII Lottery?
OMG, wouldn't that be cool? One silly lottery beating another. ______________________________________________
