EDIT: Powers of the same quantity offered on ebay.
2004.12.11 03:07:32notifyThe Serpentis Mercenary is too far away, you need to be within 54625 meters of it but are actually 13193590680251 meters away.

If something isnt done about these smegheads fast, mining will no longer be a viable way to make money in-game for players, and buying ISK is the only way to have money.
I mean, if the prices on ice have already dropped by 50%, who wants to mine for 4 hours to make 1.5M isk? With the crash of the trit-prices, mining ore is becoming none-profit too.
If this keeps up, I am afraid no-one will be mining soon, and everybody buying ISK from the macroers, who are the only ones stubborn enough to mine for 4 hours to make 1.5M ISK.
And, well, who does this benefit? The guys in low-sec with a POS, and the control of zyd/mega already.
This is a loose/loose situation for EVE, and I hope CCP will realize this soon(tm), or just run "rm -rf *" on their main server, because this is getting boring, and quite fast.

Erm, no, agent missions, belt rat bounties and the DED rewards for Overseers' Effects would remain plentiful sources of ISK.

While n00bs buy 200M isk to start off with, I have to run agent-missions for 4 hours to make a few ISK? Get real. Time is money.

People buying ISK are part of the problem. Just because all the n00bs are doing it, doesn't mean it is OK, or without consequence. So yes, grind away at the L4 or 5/10 until it's fixed.

The only way this problem can/maybe resolved is for the devs to make an elite or something konkorden officer npc which can scan in some way to give the said macroer passing through say gates etc and impossing a justified penalty accordingly just a thought for the developers. Then ppl wont complain so much about macro miners. This is just my thought.

Seeing as we are being redirected to this thread and not one of the numerous others which are older and larger, I am hoping someone upstairs is taking this idea seriously. It's a good one. Take out all the 0.5+ sec ice belts, and give low sec some more love. Perhaps with extra warp scrambling spawns.

Your minigame... is fun for 5 minutes... now imagine a guy mining for his POS... doing this for 5hours per day... psychiatric asylum FTW! _______________________ Forums DSU |

Well the delay is only ten seconds. Ingame it'd be like the cycle of the mining laser or so. Personally I can almost hear my braincells crying in agony after 15 minutes of mining which is why I never took it up as a profession. If I wanted to stare at rocks for hours I'd just sit in my yard.

Because there are ways of moving ISK about without it being obvious. There are item-drops and ESCROW. And the account sending the ISK is almost invariably a trial account. In fact, I'd be confident that if this happened only one sending would occur per trial character. CCP would be funding the macroers without stopping a single one.

Originally by: Rod Blaine the problem isnt the macro's but the farming.
if you remove the possibility to use macros, you will simple move the farming from unattended to sweatshop-attended.
No gain.
What you need to tackle is the ability to control more then say 5 accounts at a time. Even when on different pc's.
Wait, that's not possible ! So, you can't remove farming, period.
What you can do, is take away its feeding grounds: isk buyers in the 'illegal' circuit.
True. CPP should invest more energy into hunting the people that buy ISK then the ones that sell it. Perhpas even letting the sellers untouched so CCP can monitor all their ISK transactions and ban the receipients, scaring them from buying ISK.
If CCP ruins the market for them, ISK farming will eventually run into trouble.
But Macroing and ISK farming are two separate problems.
People running several accounts on a macro but not for selling the ISK for RL money, are also a problem.

Edited by: d Ankou on 27/11/2005 20:33:27 Presumably these macro miners are either using an indy or mining into a jet can?
If its the second option, just steal their ice. Ore theft is well, a grey area but macro mining is definitely a big no no. So well, teach them a lesson. steal the rewards of their lazyness.
Quote: If this keeps up, I am afraid no-one will be mining soon,
Erm, well. no. Ice mining was reduced mainly as there isn't a massive demand for it especially in empire. Macro mining is only a small percentage of miners anyhow...

We can wardec their corp, and not the newbie npc ones duh? ------------------------------------
Quote: 1 Billion isk currently sells on ebay for about $225 90 day GTC $38.95 Currently selling for 300mill
Therefore 1Bill isk costs you $129.50.

Well, I do mine ice every now and then for profit simply because the longer cycle times and non-popping ice makes it convenient when I have other things to do in the background. And I am sure I can't be the only one.
With the recent drop in ice prices I have have simply been stockpiling for a better time to sell.

Many problems with many (or all) of the ideas posted in this thread. But to combat the first post, if you remove ice from empire it wont stop the macro miners, it will just make them switch to veldspar etc. A 'minor' inconvienance for a 'macro' problem. Pardon the puns. ---

It's a lot harder to macro mine belts than it is Ice.... Ice doesn't run out. They would look much more obvious taking all the ore from belts. Ice is a total afk job.

Edited by: Auman on 28/11/2005 10:32:34 I'm confused! Why do people say that they are abusing trial accounts when from the looks of the skill reqs you can barely (if at all) use an ice miner + barge in 2 weeks. If I am wrong here and they are using free 2 week accounts just up the skill requirements to use advanced mining gear.
It would at least force them to purchase accounts. But like I say I'm surprised if they even can ice mine in 2 weeks.
CCP will never do it but would be nice if people people couldn't just exisit in NPC corps forever. It would help with ore thieves and macroing. Force people into war dec-able corps after a month.
