Trying to get some positive posts going on here.
Q: What cheap pirate ship do you favor and why?
I favor the Maller atm. It can do just about anything related to piracy. I don't even have decen't laser skills so I use tech2 medium autocannons or small ones. It's rather cheap and can tank so well. I love this ship and has got to be the best amarr ship ever created. Not to mention it looks pretty damn cool when you get use to it's wierd shape.

A: Revelation.
It tanks better than the Maller, is definately the best Amarr ship ever created, looks cool and kills everything quickly (as long as its not moving). |

1. Ferox: Some people laugh when I say that, but it's great for hitting soft targets. Missiles are nice, so are medium turrets of any kind, and the midslots let you MWD and scramble, and then be ready for shield tanking when they come back after you during the timer.
2. Geddon: 7 Megapulses + Mining barge = BOOM. You don't need a warp disruptor if you fit 3 sensor boosters instead.
3. Scorp: They can't even shoot back :P. Or, tracking computers and railguns 4tw :).
4. Incursus: These little cheap bastards are MEAN. My first pirate kill was me killing an Exequeror with one of these.
5. Blackbird: Cheap, EW bonuses, plenty of midslots, and fast. Might as well paint a damn Jolly Roger on the blackbird skin.

Id have to say RIFTER, dont come alot cheaper than that for the loadout you can use.
My current happens to be:
2 x 200MM Autos
2 x Malkuth Rocket Launchers
1 x AB
1 x Stasis Webbifier
2 x Gyrostabiliser1
Dont know if its great but I ahve taken out frigs and a few destroyers with it. So Im happy an all in all 500K well spent

i'd have to say rifter aswell, easily one of the best piracy ships. And the stabber was just born for piracy. (better for those slightly harder targets)

Thorax. great damage, great survivalability.
Rupture and Stabber are great too...
Rocket-Crow is also pretty good imo...

Hmm, AC Temp is a good pirate ship, Deimos is good, but Scorpion will ALWAYS be king of the pirate ships...

Top of my list is my old buddy the Thorax, I've made more kills with one of these than all others put together. Hits hard, and has great survivability. Has got me through some tough fights. RIP to my favorite pirate ship.

Any battleship cannot be the king of pirate ships by default, imho. I pirate solo, Battleship is pretty much the WORST ship I can think of for nomadic piracy (i.e. staying on the move, hunting targets)
Maybe its just my style of play but I tend to get blobbed by angry people with a grudge in a BS way faster than anything else. Atleast in a Cruiser or smaller, I can leave the scene before the blob show up.
My nominee would be the EW Vagabond.

used it a lot now..killed ferox,1600mm thorax with neutron heavy drones the whole package, also ****loads of caracal and buzzard. and mining barges with 9X hammerhead 2 ^^
not even light drones can track it when you doing a 16 k orbit.
also vexor is good, can break any cruiser with ease. after thorax nerf that 1 too 
this is all for piracy, real wars may be different. because targets will just mwd to gate than and jump with ares, because it doesnt have a web.
it still needs a boost tough. to much skills to make it work.

I solo pirated in a dampening Scorp for about 8 months straight and lost about 2 ships within those 8 months. With a skilled enough pilot, any ship can be the ultimate solo-ship.

Not cheap, but vagabone is my ship of choice for pirating...well in belts anyway.
Vagagond is the only ship that i can consistently turn a profit on, because I can always kill enough ships with it to earn enough loot to buy a new one, plus I can usually afford a few exotic dancers witht he left over profits, which is good.

I'd have to agree scorp is dam good because of the mid slots... not enough boom though, and struggles to take down other large targets.
I use a raven as a every day ratting machine. T2 cruise, 3 slot tackle, 3 slot tank and then dmg mods & stabs. No other ship in game can tackle, gank, tank then run away in one setup and be awesome at all four

Actually he's right and its not hard =) Provided u get a lock first (90% of the time they dont see it comming anyway) before they warp out, its over at that point as you can use ew like a mofo and use a single rail to pick them off =)

If the blackbird loses a high slot as had been proposed for the next update I doubt it will be able to gank anything.
