When I first started, I thought I could make good money hauling, buying and selling trade goods. So I went out, bought an Iteron I, and then filled the hold with garbage and dirt since I'd calculated that had the highest buying price-selling price ratio. After buying about half a million ISK of garbage and dirt, hauling it 20 jumps, and selling it, I came out with a grand profit of maybe 100k.
Kind of gave up on my dirt/garbage transporting scheme after that. ______________________________________________

I can't say that I've done anything out of the ordinary but I had a noob in a frig targeted my Carac while heading toward a gate. So I was cool and didn't decide to go hostile (like I did to someone 2 days before and got shot down by Concord).
Well, this guy gets near the gate as I approach and decides that he's going to shoot at me before he jumps and Concord took his arse down in a split second. I was lmao and decided to take everything in his can and bounced to meet up with my Corp.

After 2 weeks of hard work another noob and I were able to buy our first cruisers (omens). We thought we had hit the big time and took them out for a test ride hunting in the belts in a .9 sec system. We ran across a missile spamming frigate and my wing mate activated a smart bomb to try and defend against the missile. It hit me of course and Concord proceeded to spank his arse. Distraught but thinking fast I quickly tell him to eject and when he does I boarded his omen thinking that would stop concord killing it. Concord didnt care and finished killing the ship.
Upon reboarding my own omen I find myself getting ganked by Concord for some reason. In the end there were just two noob eggs sitting in the belt surrounded by the whole damn Concord fleet and wondering WTF just happened. No one can hear you scream in space, so STFU and die already. |

Edited by: Praxsis on 23/03/2006 20:29:59 I was ratting in 0.3 in my Ferox a day after I joined Novus - I've cleaned out the belt and I'm looting the cans, when a Merlin warps in. It sits at 0m/s for a minute or so whilst I move between cans - then he locks me up. I check the guy's info again, and yep - it's definately a week old PC, and it's an ordinary Merlin, not an Assault Frig.
He fires at me with everything he's got. Barely scratches the paint. I return fire (a n00b setup of rails) and his shields are gone and I'm into his armour in a single volley. He panics and runs like a burning chimp. I let him warp out (no scrambler anyways). He convos me. "You lied. You've been playing longer than a day."
It takes me a few seconds to realise he warped in, read the top line of my Employment History, and thought I was a day old n00b. I convo back with advice on how to work out a player's age - even sent him 100k to pay for repairs and to further his (likely doomed) career in piracy.

i had started my own corp for the easy hangar sorting. later I decided to join a player corp and did. what i DIDN'T do is empty out my corporate hangars at my mining ops base. mining barge, several cruisers fitted as miners, giant secure cans, minerals, BPOs...it alllll got liquidated and I got about 1.7mil for everything.
didn't have a clue about petitions either, not that I would have gotten my stuff back.
----- my playstyle is anti-pirate. what does this mean? it means you'll never catch me in a valuable ship and/or setup where it can be compromised. go on, trade your ammo for the scraps you'll get. |

I'm still a noob, so something I did yesterday should still count...
I knew I would be able to fly an industrial pretty soon, so I put up a region-wide buy order for a reaper (Minmatar) at 300k. To my pleseant surprise, someone filled it! Unfortunately.... it was left at a station in 0.3 space.
I'd already been killed once in my frigate last night, and I knew that flying through lowsec with an indie was certain death (I can't even use MWDs yet). I finally realized my only choice was to throw it in my probe (frigate), and then unpack it once I got back to high security.
I flew all the way out to pick it up, and then tried to put it in my cargo hold:
"You need 10000 m^3 to carry this object, but you only have 423 m^3"
Doh!

In my first Merlin I attacked a cruiser in 1.0 for locking me. I just hit F1 and up as soon as I locked him. Sofar my second day in the game.
Suffice to say I had to restart to pay for a merlin since Concord didn't like me at tha moment. I did dock my pod, hopped on my spare merlin and undocked, not lnowing I had Concord on my ass for 15 minutes.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |

This was in beta 6: I spent 6 hours mining Arkonor in a Reaper with a Basic Civilian Miner (yes you could do it then), warping to station with 6 units of Ark at a time. I right clicked it and sold it..... for 0.01 isk to some market scammer (they've been around all that time too). In those days, you didn't get a below market average warning message!

Right after finishing the tutorial I try a level 3 deadspace.
I was playing for three weeks before I found the right click in space method of getting to stations and belts.
I bought my first Brutix and put on a Halcyon WCS thinking it was named so it must be able to beat Fleeting warp jammer.
I still have a sheild booster on my Rax.

Edited by: Sicariidae on 23/03/2006 23:39:58 reproccessed 3 best named bcu's i got from a few lvl2 storylines(forget what mission but it yielded a TON of gal tags) simply because I couldnt use them for my ship. I also didnt know how much they sold for :O
Luckly around the same time with a 10 day old caracel i stumbled across 2x LG snakes from a commander in a system that had 5x faction spawns spread over 21 belts.. system starts with reag or raeg and has a concord logistics station, but 6 months later.. Its ubar camped now like 8 active pirate corpers per hour farming spawns. =(

An ally flew through a system I was defending and hung out near our group for a bit. Corp mate said "hey, check out his cool looking HAC!". I was running weapons hot, and I left clicked on this cool looking HAC to get the 'zoom in' view option... oops.
New player tip: Although you normally have to ctrl-click to target, if you have pre-activated a module, the game helpfully makes left-click lock target too. Right-click to cancel your pre-activations. Who knew? Not me. :)
