well those nasty little mining bots (cough macros) will be being killed a lot more after this patch so i guess their vast ISK reserves will start being eroded as they loose ships - i give it a few weeks but they will either be around more at hthe command console or start using battleships (which wont be to hard just bring a bigger fleet) i can see a big ISK sink happening but about time.

Edited by: sonofollo on 14/12/2005 20:41:44 it finishes on the 18th is about right :P that said i guess the extra day gives em time before the weekend to hotfix any minor issues = it was extensivley tested on SISI still when it goes large scale u never know Thundergodthor - please read above patch will come once they get some minor QA and hotfixing issues sorted out - so give it about 0600 GMT on the 15th then u can get youre patch 0 limelight hosting are also helping with distribution of the patch as well as as many mirrors as needed to get it out

I really need another game here, if wife see me switching off the PC so early she'll think I'm ill or something. The bad side of being a mmog player, is that when you upgrade your PC, you just delay all single player games installations to tomorrow, then next week, then sometimes next year ... now I wonder where I put them ... and they are probably sligthly old too .... ew

It means you did something dumb, delete your Eve dir and install again from CD and download the release cd to RMR patch when it comes out or download the full RMR client when that arrive. As clearly stated in the test patch - NOT FOR USE ON TRANQUILITY. still it will stop you from being bored during the DT.

And people please, please, PLEASE! use the bittorrent files or mirrors to download the patch. 70k users trying to autopatch at the same time using the patch on the main server is B-A-D. Already had that with cold war that the server crashed, needed to restart, crashed again.. lagged very badly. So, use the bittorrent, my PC will be running to provide some shared downloadpower!

Dear Diary, I woke up today knowing the patch is being installed sometime today. They keep mentioning some GMT time zone but that doesn't make any sense to me. I just know its six o'clock in the morning and I have to get to work. I'm looking forward to the patch and seeing what wonderful advances they have made. Time for work! 8:30 AM I couldn't resist a website peek. They said the website would be down for a bit while they installed. No luck though, it's still up. 9:30 AM Peeked again. It's still up. OOps, here comes my boss. 11:45 AM Whew! Finally got out of that meeting. I'm pretty sure I missed something important but whenever the boss opened his mouth, all I heard was "Your Railgun strikes perfectly wrecking the Serpentis ship for 435 points of damage." over and over again. 1:15 PM Back from lunch and now the server is down. No wait, our internet is down. darn. 4:30 PM Ok, server back up but now EVE Insider is down. Nice pics though! He he, I want a CCP shirt too. Those guys look like they really enjoy their work. 6:00 PM I'd be mining by now. Server still down. 7:00 PM Why can't I just get up and walk away from my computer? I mean, I work in front of one all day. I know, I'll go watch a movie. But then what if the server comes up? 7:05 PM Nope. Server still down. 7:45 PM My roommate thinks I need an intervention. I tried to play Halo PC but that didn't work. I think I had the flag and suddenly felt compelled to minimize the screen and check if the server came back. NOPE it hadn't. 8:15 PM I've taken to the bottle. Hank Williams is playing in the background (There's a Tear in my Beer). All I want to do is mine for a bit. Just a little Jaspet. Just one can. That's all. I'll take on a rat. Just one. 9:45 PM I got a blanket around my shoulders. I refuse to turn on the heat. It's about 40 degrees in the house but I'm afraid my computer might over heat. It never has before but i'm not taking any chances. My roommate has abandoned me to my solitude. I can hear mining lasers behind me and when I turn around, there is an Xbox 360 laughing at me and the server is still down. 10:00 PM Ok, CCP, if you bring up the Server, just for a little while, I promise I will never curse a veldspar roid for being in my way again. In fact. I would love to see a Veldspar roid right about now. Just one. Pretty little roid. Pretty little roid. 11:00 PM Bedtime. I have three meetings tomorrow and must get some sleep but what if the server goes down. I know, I'll sleep here in the computer room. 11:19 PM CCP hates me. 11:20 PM There are battleships in my room locking on me even though my room is .7 space. 11:21 PM It's Concord. CCP is after me and I'm in a shuttle. Oh wait, the server is down. Im immune. ha ha. 11:45 PM OMGWTF! I nodded off! Damn, the server is still down. In the dark of the room, I can see complex jump gate inviting me to activate it. Pretty lights. 12:00 AM Midnight. They're playing with me...they've got camera's in my room and they are studying my movements...good one, CCP! You win! Haha ha!...You've had your little joke now....where's the damn server!....I've got meetings tomorrow--well, later today...I gota getsooomemesleepp............

S! I swear I must have been in our Legion educational room and a captain in front kept speaking about cargo hauling according to the new rules and regulations, as well as about new weapon and armor certifications. All that yadda yadda you know. I am addicted to EVE, today the day felt LONG at work, listening to that lecture we had. And hearing things related to EVE instead of the actual lesson scares me Umm..should I enter the 0.0 sector outside my apartment or would I be ganked by some crazed cargo haulers (read: xmas shopping ppl) or pierats (read: tourists) ----------------------------------------------------- ~Let Chaos Entwine On Defenceless Soil~

The copy of the database used for Sisi was taken about 2 months ago, so any new accounts since then probably won't be recognised by it. Likewise, any skill training your character has done since then won't be reflected on Sisi. Other than that, just make sure your Eve test install is patched to the latest version and just log on to Singularity the same way you'd log on to Tranquility.

As Prefect pointed out.. it took a bit longer.New destined time: Midnight GMT. That makes it a total of 28 hours. Four hours lost training time for me. *sniffles* Not to mention the additional 8 coming from the fact that I'm asleep by Midnight GMT. 12 hours... Ouch. My own fault though.

Introducing - Flashmans guide to playing eve OFFLINE! You will need - A copy of E-ON i copy which can still be ordered in the eve store A pair of scissors (T1 will suffice but named or t2 are better) Some Card (Its chritmas, so should be plenty) Glue or Celotape (if you minmater, duct tape will add to authenticity) 1) Cut your favourate ship out of the EON magazine, if you look on page 2, there is the Minmater carrier, so it would be like having RMR now, before the rest! 2) Stick the ship of your choice of ship to the card, one its stuck, cut the card into the shape of the ship, also cut off some extra card and stick to the back of the ship so it can stand up unsuppoted. (You may wish to do steps 1 and 2 again with other ships so your not alone in the eve galaxy of your living room bedroom or airplane) 3) Equip your ship with modules, use anything you can find, i prefer this setup 2x 'Elastic' Band projectile I's, 4x Staple Gun II's, 'Fishnet' Stasis webifer I, 'Lynx' Afterburner (mainly to get the flame effect), and for tanking i use a 'Sock' armour repair system. You may use this setup or find better modules. Invite your friends around and you can take it in turns to shoot eachother, you can ask your mum to say 'Warp drive active' everytime you 'warp' and to say a module has run out of ammo when you flick your elastic band. The winner is the one remaining in the game. Its really just like playing eve in the comfort of your own home... Post some links to your and your friends playing flashmans offline eve here on this topic to show how fun it really is.

A good time to watch all player made videos. Somehow I don't think it will make me less eager to play the game... When will we see a button in the game that says "Manual" that when we click it will make us control our spaceships with a joystick? Click it again to be able to warp and such. That would increase the "dogfight" feeling a bit I think. Of course nothing would be removed from today's way to navigate and control the ship, just added as another way to fly.

I'm sure they will get it live soon... but tbh, in professional IT, downing a live environment for 24hours is in and of itself a looooooooooong time, to fail to perform the req upgrades in a huge 24hour window is the point where people get fired in most environments. Hope they get their house in order asap

Speaking as someone who has no idea whats involved in applying a patch this big to a game of this size, I sympathize with CCP. Better late than buggy. IMO CCP should calculate the time needed and add 12-24hrs, at least that way people could plug in a long skill and they'd have a big buffer for unforseen errors. It would also mean people would not complain as much when there is a delay as the delay time is already built in. Not a popular opinion I'm sure but perhaps more realistic. guys 28 hours still very reasonable - heck it could even run into longer but as long as these major bugs are picked out - and heck the longer that the new updates come on SISI the longer bug hunters have to find other potential bugs that might slip through so if youre on SISI keep testing every little feature every system, every ship every mission every NPC.

Maybe its time to bigger cleanup at CCP, in either Deployment department. Guys you have a product with custommers here, if you make an estimate HOLD IT. As long as I have been here you havent managed that, and you dont bother to make up for your mistakes to your CUSTOMERS. I love the game and gameplay thats why I still am here. I made a t2 cormorant by colouring the cormy with a black marker pen I pwnt everything as this game seems to have a power limit bug. I fitted 6 large industry size nail gun IIs 2 heavy "vacuum cleaner" energy drain 1 100mn "Sure for men" MWD 1 "Fishnet" Webbifier 1 Large "Transparent Plastic Cup" Shield Extender 1 "Room fan" Warp Core Stabilizer 1 "Laser Pointer" Staple Stabiliser --- INFOD

Hope they get their house in order asap Yeah, because fast and sloppy is a hell of a lot better than taking your time and making sure it works RIGHT, rite? You clearly have never worked in professional IT, but no matter, the post was not intended as a flame - hopefully CCP are more understanding of delays than say the commercial market I looked at their jobs page and noticed they want MS SQL server admins. So their first mistake is using a MS product The fact that it runs as well as it does is a testament to the quality of their programmers. Having worked with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL; I would put SQL Server at the bottom of the heap for performance. It is about even with PostgreSQL for features. Oracle is what they should have gone with. Ah well, live and learn

I wanted to respond to someone that said 24 hours of downtime was an ok thing in the IT world. I recall when I worked for Dell as an onsite tech; our company had a contract with Dell that said we had 2 to 4 hours depending on the contract, to get the server back up and running. Personally I think anything longer then 6 hours of total outage is crazy in the IT world. I canĘt for the life of me figure out why CCP thinks bringing down the servers for 24 hours and now pushing 36 is a good thing. At my wifeĘs company then are making a switch that kind of relates to a patch and the way they are handling it is to have parallel servers running. One with the old patch and one with the new. They will do this for 2 weeks before turning off the old server. In all the other online games I have played there were always patches but the new patch was installed with in 1 to 2 hours after the maintenance period. Why would this game even need to bring the servers down for 24 hours let alone 36 and maybe even longer since its still not back up?
